She was great! I think she is so pretty, I love her long hair. I do agree, she did seem like she didn't want to be up there. But I also agree that I think she is just sick of singing the same songs over and over again. I am pretty sure that I'd fell the same way if I was in her shoes. I love her music, and just basically everything about her. Jewel does definitely inspire me a lot. Oh, yeah, before I forget... Mikey, I don't know if you will get this message or not. Anywho, my name is CHRISTA, not Christina. If you are calling me this name 'cause I call you MIKEY, when your name is Mike, then I don't mind if you call me Christina. But if that is not the case, please stop calling me Christina. I really wish you would stop. I don't mean to seem rude or anything, but Christa was the name I was giving and I would really rather have that name more than Christina. Thanks for reading this sort-a long post, if you did anyway. Bye 4 now. In the meantime, I am reporting live for CNN news. Tune in tomorrow for another excellent news report........................ I read just about every single post/thread, so I guess it's about time that I start putting my two cents in. I guess I'd kind of like the songs on her new CD to be completely new, or a surprise. I wasn't aware of the songs on POY when it was released, except for WWSYS. Since then, I've fallen in love with the CD. So I hope that all of the songs on her new album will either be songs that I have never heard, or just a complete surprise. Either way, I'm sure I'll be happy. I love every song that Jewel comes out with. After the Jewel concerts in Europe. I would like to thank all of you for the kind reactions and hope my enthousiasm about the gigs did make a smile on some faces. That 1998 as pretty may be as 1997 through our music-glasses. In matter of fact before the Mr. BB post about the songs Jewel did record for her new album some months ago almost nobody had my nr. 1 song on their list. Now I see it more often and I love that. I really hope she will record it because it has so many special meanings to me! In Amsterdam she played it on my request and I love Jewel for the way she did it. I will never forget Jewel looking at me after that song. And here are the result of the dutch jury (;-)) 1. INNOCENCE MAINTAINED 2. Last dance rodeo 3. Satellite 4. Your in Cleveland today 5. Let it rip Let it Fly I don't do 14 because it's of no use. Just the 5 personal favorites.... And hoping the first will be a going out as single ...... (2 and 3 will be on it IMO. They have been played so many times in the november concerts that I think it's a hint). Thanks for your time, Greetings, Marcel. <> ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Feb 1998 01:18:48 EST From: PucaFddlr@aol.com Subject: Re: Soundtracks/Woe To Live On Sorry if somebody already mentioned this, but I was just thinking and thought I'd throw this out... I wonder if there is any plans for Jewel to contribute to the soundtrack of Woe to Live On. After all, most other musicians starring in movies (Madonna, Whitney Houston, Barbara Streisand, etc. etc.) have. For anyone out there who has read the book (although that's not too likely, since I hear it's out of print) - what do you think her contribution might be? As for me, I kinda think that Jewel's music is so uncommercial ('cept for those specially commercialized "new" versions of her singles, of course), that few of them would actually qualify as "movie music" in their present form. Of course, she could always add some stuff to make it adapt to the movie plot, and it's general feel. Just me thinking aloud... Well, not really aloud... But you all know what I mean. :) Alana. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Feb 1998 09:26:44 -0000 From: David Parry Subject: Foolish games (U.K) Does anybody at all anywhere, have any idea when it's going to be released The music shops keep fobbing us off with "oh it's been oput back a week!?!?!?!" Thanks! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Feb 1998 22:35:00 -0600 (CST) From: Sam Michael Megally Subject: please read! why judge jewel? fellow eda's, well, i must be honest and say that i really hardly ever write in to the list, but i've been seeing something lately that is getting more and more apparent, and i don't like it. we are passing far too much judgement on jewel lately. i mean, i'm sure that i will never have the pleasure of asking her myself over a nice candlelight dinner with a glass of chardonnay (oh, off the subject!), but i think it must be terribly difficult to be famous and have to worry about pleasing everybody. at least that's what the record company is telling her to do, right? and then we, who are supposed to be her most supportive group, come back and say "well, since when did she start wearing so much concealer? i'm losing faith in her -- she's becoming a valley girl!" come on, guys! just who the hell do we think we are, and what the hell does jewel owe us? nothing! if it weren't us who were her most loyal fans, it would be the next few thousand folks, and they might be a little less backstabbing! ask yourselves what jewel is really all about. she is about being true to yourself, and following your dreams, and love in the world, and finding beauty in so ugly a place, and likening yourself to an angel so as to do Godly work here in your time on earth. she is about that glimmer of goodness in the rough that is so hard to find, and about having faith that it's there and really does exist. i feel she has done a tremendous job at staying herself. i mean, it's not as if she does her own styling, to put that little scandal to rest, and even if she did, fine -- i think she only continues to look hotter and hotter by the minute! and the rest of the world can't be wrong for agreeing with me. now i know some of the flames i get are going to be along the lines of "well, we are a list designed to discuss jewel, and that's all we're doing!" but there is a difference between discuss and pick to bits. we have, of late, been doing the latter. there is this line that you can cross in analysis where you are no longer observing and discussing, and you are beginning to deconstruct, and that's a horrible thing we're doing to her, and we all deserve a reprimanding slap on the hand. i'm not even going to touch on the little "sick of foolish games" thread that's been going around like a bad flu, because we all know that it is ridiculous to expect that she's going to do anything else but her current single on these high publicity shows. and not only that, but if we were listening to those words, instead of trying to deconstruct the song as well, we would realize that jewel's music is timeless, and your heart really can melt every time you hear it again, as if it were the first time every time. isn't that why we all joined this list? doesn't she move all of you the way she does me? well, i guess i did touch on it, but i'm sorry, the horse i was on just kept getting higher and higher. so, anyway, i'm now going to dismount. but before i do, i would like to start a little thread of my own, and see if anyone will keep it up (if anyone made it to the end of this long post!). i want to see little notes of encouragement to jewel, at least for a couple of days. here's mine: jewel, you are emotion and feeling, and every time i hear your voice, i recommit myself to beauty in this world. i wish you the best of luck in all that you endeavor to do, i can't wait for you to fully spread your angel wings, and i just hope that i may be witness to the flight. i love everything about you, right down to the hair, makeup, teeth, and overplayed songs. you are my inspiration. sincerely yours, sam megally dallas, texas ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Feb 1998 23:19:58 -0500 From: "Chris Klein" Subject: Most extensive Jewel/EDA Webpage---Please help Hey EDA's, Here it goes: I'm a sophomore in college, and part of my major requires extensive programming, HTML, Java, and network management. As one of my projects, I'm required to come up with a massive website. There are many details that I can't really get into, but I want it to revolve around Jewel and the EDA's. I'd really like to make page upon page about all the EDA's, and personal info. So if you guys could send me your names(first names are fine), E-mail addresses, ICQ#(if you have one), AOL instant messsenger account name(if you have one), personal info(favorite jewel songs, interests, hobbies, etc...), and anything else you want on my page. This page will be on the net, and others will be able to see it. It is quite an extensive project, and it will probably take me at least a week to get it fully operational. I know it'll take a lot of work, but I am more than willing to do it. I get kind of obsessed with things I love. :) So please send me anything and everything that you would like me to put on my page. I'd also like to make the second part about Jewel. I'm not exactly sure what I should do. Links, pictures, videos, info...???? It seems like almost all of it is out there already. Should I just combine it all into one huge site? I could really really use some great ideas, and your info. So please send it to me if you would like to get involved, and I really hope you do. I'd love to get every single angel up on my page. This way you guys can look each other up, and make some great friends based on your interests. I also plan on keeping this site around for a good long time, so it's not gonna be up and down in one day. It should be here for as long as the list is. :) Thanks for your help, Chris *the broken hearted angel* "Your life becomes what you believe" Jewel Kilcher ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Jan 1998 15:03:59 -0600 From: todd allyn werner Subject: Jewel on my mind lately... I've broken from lurking again. I've decided to cast my input into the fray. Of course, y'all know Jewel's made a few television appearances in the last couple weeks, so here's my thoughts on the whole experience, all saved up and wrapped conveniently into one package for y'all: I'm not even going to bother with the Super Bowl experience. It was fine, it was lip-synched, that's it. But, let me say, as duff said, that when i heard jewel sing FG on rosie today, i too fell in love with the song again. in fact, the last couple months i haven't listened to much jewel again, and after re-joining the list, i've started in again and feel like i've rediscovered this lost world that i knew once. and both FG on rosie and the tonight show made me fall in love with just about everything jewel's done. she might be tired of POY and FG, but i don't think that's stopping her from performing with emotion and energy. and really, as a thousand people have said, who wouldn't be tired of singing the same three songs from POY for two years? my point is that jewel continues to inspire and continues to amaze me in her talent and the power of music. so, keep watching. - -todd ps. does anybody else out there just love it when she's singing and she curls her bottom lip in...? that and when she crinkles her nose up (see Late Show NYA performance) is wonderful. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 3 Feb 1998 14:09:06 +0800 From: "Subashini" Subject: Re: 14 songs Well, I can't really think of 14 songs, but there are some that I hope she'll put on her new album. For example, if you are on America Online, you need to put your email address in as you@aol.com not simply "you" since there is no way for me or the computer to know you are on aol and not some other service provider. With the exception of one person using a browser that didn't support forms, this is the only problem we have encountered and uncovered. The next version of my program will check for basic errors in your email address before it will process your request. If you got an email saying you signed up, everything's cool and you will be contacted by your branch soon. If you didn't get a mail soon after signing up (it goes out immediately from here) then feel free to sign up again. Web signups will have priority since they came in first and don't take as much hand processing, but I will post email signup instructions soon. Over 99% (I'm not overstating this) of people have not had any problems signing up, and I'm very happy about it. :-) So everything is fine. If you haven't signed up for a tape, you can at: http://www.angelfoodbank.org If you don't have web access, you will find out how to get your request in via email in a few days. Thanks for your patience! If you have questions, you can ask them to info@angelfoodbank.org, or if you have technical problems signing up on the site, you can address them to webmaster@angelfoodbank.org which will go to me. So far the project's been going great! Over 400 people are signed up all over the world for Future Folklore #3. This tape will be available indefinately, so there's no need to worry about getting it.
