How R U all? I hope all is well. First off, I was wondering if ANYONE had ANY lyrics to ANY of Jewel's songs. And if you do, will you PLEASE e-mail them to me? Thanx. BTW, I already have the ones on POY. Ok, now to my subject...Last night, Friday, I was watching Jay Leno for Sarah. Anyways, I was thinking about Jewel and the conversation she had w/ Jay. Anyways, when Jay was doing his opening act, I knowticed he mentioned Bill Clinton. I decided to pay attention to it. First, to me, it sounded like he was insulting Bill Clinton. I was kind-of mad, b/c the night before Jewel said, "I like Bill. Leave him alone!" Then Jay agreed w/ her. And now he was insulting Bill. Doesn't that make you feel like Jay is insulting Jewel? It kind-of does for me. So, is this a bad thing or good thing that Jay was saying on Jewel's part? It seems like Jewel is the only one for Bill. Although, there may be a couple of you on the list that are w/ her. I don't really know the situation, so I'm not on anyones side. If you want to flame me, flame me privatly, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanx for your time everyone! It's nice to hear form people who agree and disagree with me. Alright top quesiton: Does anyone know if Jewel has written any new songs yet? I would like to hear some of them. Is her second album going to be only old stuff that she has already written or what? Oh yeah, for all the Atlanta/ GA EDA's who likes Pearl Jam (R.Hester) and receive 99X, PJ is going to be played all weekend and special concerts are going to broadcasted also. One last thing... Does anyone have the setlist for the EDA Compilation? I got the tape, but don't know what's on it. Don't worry though, Jewel has said many times that music and writing is in her blood. She has to do it. Her new cd should ignite her love for music again. I hope it does also. She's always been top on my list. The soul and passion in her music touches me every time I listen to it. (I'm only 12, forgive me) My parents dragged me somewhere and they didn't seem to care about the Tonight Show because we got home really late and they wouldn't let me watch it. They confined me to my room. Did anyone tape it. I wanna see it. I think that if she sang Foolish Games again, then I really don't WANNA see it. I know she's trying to promote the single, but please, that song IS overplayed already. The wwsys thing about on the vid. if she sang flowers or vemes or babies or whatever you guys think she said. Well, who cares anyway? I mean, I care about Jewel and I like her music and stuff, but the words are flowers, so go with that. Bytheway... don't hate me, I've got enough emails already without comiplaint emails!! =) I'd like to thank Allison LaNeave for giving me the Last Dance Rodeo lyrics and guitar tabs. My guitar teacher is going to help me learn to play it. I'M TURNING 13 ON THE 2ND!! YEA! I had to post that-I'm excited. hehe........ Ok, so I'm new to the list, someone help me out with Angelfood. I'd really like some of her other recordings. She's so awesome. Anyone wanna help me? I'd also like pics and posters of her. My room is becoming a shrine from pics from magazines. Her cd is always in my cd player and I'm always singing her songs. She's my #1 inspiration. Sarah McLaughlin (sp?) too. Anyone wanna tell me how to subscribe to her mailing list? My fave songs (out of the ones I've heard so far) are: Last Dance Rodeo (I saw it on Unplugged) You Were Meant For Me Amen I'm Sensative (sp?) and... last but not least... Little Sister I also love Foolish Games. It's great, but I've heard it so many times that I think I'm going to hurl. j/k :c) Is there really a POY piano book? What about a guitar book? If there are, are they still available? Someone email me and tell me please. This is really getting a little crazy. Doesn't anyone realize that Jewel is just human? So she's getting sick of singing the same songs over and over, would you? She's had the same album out for like ever. Jewel is not a God. She's a normal human being just like the rest of us. I think sometimes we forget that. We think that she's suposed to be this wonderful messiah or something, and she's not. I think that everyone gets a little crazy when Jewel says something. Maybe she was just having a bad night, just because she's bored with the music that she's playing now doesn't mean that we should stop liking her, does it? I think this whole thing was blown out of proportion. Calm down, take it easy. I'm sure that Jewel's not going to give up on music and I dont think that we should give up on liking her because of one comment or one show. Thank you. I wanted to write about this for 2 months ago when Michele from Philly (mg069242@mailhost.sju.edu) brought it up. And finally I had a bit of spare time on this dreadful hungover rainy California afternoon. Michele noticed that Sylvia Plath (1932-1963) had poems "Daddy" and "Morning Song". While I'm not familiar with "Morning Song" (Plath's), "Daddy" is similar, a somewhat spiteful, hateful ditty against her (or someone's ?) father, although Plath's daddy is a member of the Nazi Germans in WWII, whereas Jewels "Daddy" was a KKK racist (The song isnt about her own dad for you newbies out there). Like Jewel, plath was pretty, intelligent and sensitive, and wrote often about angels, moons, stars, and nature. Plath was a better writer as far as word usage and complexity, but of course she didnt sing or play guitar. Plath also had poems entitled "Dark Water, Deep Water", and "Crossing the Water", whereas Jewel has "Deep Water" and "Under the water", but I think thats kind of coincidental. Other random similarities- "If I'm alive now then I was dead"- Plath's "Love Letter" "I'm half alive but I feel mostly dead"- Jewel's "YWMFM" "Pieces of us die everyday as though our flesh were hell"- Jewels "Amen" "Flesh bears no relation, cold folds of ego"-Plath's "Night Dreams" Jewel has over 300 songs, Plath had over 400 poems when she was about the same age, at Smith College. Plath had an editor named Lincoln, Jewel a roadie named Kennedy (J/K) Alas, poor Sylvia committed suicide at the age of 30. (She had made several previous attempts). She suffered from depression and mental illness her whole life, and unfortunately had electroshock therapy and similar treatments nothing like the modern day medications and therapy we have. (Too bad she didn't have any Jewel records). Anyways she was a fascinating, very deep and often dark writer, but also had some beautiful romantic poetry. Her one novel "The Bell Jar" is A semi-autobiographical account of her struggle with mental illness as a young writer. Some of her best poetry books include "Ariel", "Colussus", or any collected works. I think my next Jewel's English lesson will be the great poet Pablo Neruda. Can someone send me a private email with the lyrics? Thank you. Basically I'm just too lazy to transcribe them myself. I've heard this song way too many times now, Jewel, could we please do something, anything else, when we do our live appearances? Now, this said, the second half of the song was extremely emotional and well done, but I just don't care as much since it's so played out. I mean, compared to the Batman and Robin version it was ten times better, I mean, she really hammered into the "Somebody more like myself" lines, which is where the song really picks up pace anyway, and from there it was a very strong version, but still, heard it too many times, was really expecting something else, anything else. Also, she looked incredible, the best I've seen in a long time, maybe in years, since back before she gained a little weight and started wearing make-up all the time, ie: Jewelstock, her opening dates for Dylan, etc etc. That thing she did with her hair really accentuates her beautiful face and she looked absolutely radiant. The post song interview was predictable but I LOVED her political statement about living Bill Clinton alone. Way to go Jewel! Say something instead of just answering Jay's lame, predictable questions. That's all I guess.
