Hello! I have a couple of things to say here... 1. Does anyone have the EDA cover tape they would be willing to dub for me? I'll provide a blank or we can trade... 2. To all the people I'm dubbing Rare Angels for... Please send me tapes ASAP. I'm going to start helping with the Future Folklore tree, so I need to finish up Rare Angels. If you can send your tapes to me within the next couple of weeks I would really aopreciate it. Of course if you have some really good reason you can't get them to me that soon, I'll make exceptions :) Bradi == The EDA Message Board: http://www.insidetheweb.com/messageboard/mbs.cgi/mb37075 ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Jan 1998 13:48:51 +0930 From: Tiggles Subject: POY bonus song Hi all Just back from my local cd shop and what did I see? POY with 15 tracks on it, yep 15. I'd heard that this was around though I hadn't seen it, when I brought mine I got 14 tracks on it.(spewin) The bonus track #15 is foolish games (edit) though it didn't say how long it went for. This is the first year they have expanded the awards they give out each year (formerly, and possibly still called, BAMMIES) to the entire state. They have been televised in the past few years on one of the local TV stations. They have featured some great live performances, notably Santana, Chris Isaak, and many other great musicians. I have never attended the awards, but they are alot of fun and fairly well known in the area. Not sure why you hadn't heard of them Quinn... A wonderful friend of mine that works for Warner Bros. was able to get me a ticket. I was just wondering if any other EDAs are going to be there. He said that the taping starts at 5pm but that I should be there at least before 3pm. So if anyone is going please let me know for we can keep each other company during the long wait. First, it was written _for_ the movie The Craft, not just adapted to it. Second, reading the lyrics you realize that the words not only reflect the theme of the movie, but also Jewel's own philosophy. She did this so cleverly, along with great music and that adorable rap section, I think the producers made a mistake by not making it the title track. Unfortunately, it only gets a few seconds of background play. You know, I just realized that I've been posting to the Jewel mailing list for over a week now, but I never really introduced myself. (Whippings will be conducted out back. Please use real leather, as suede just doesn't have to same effect...) :) So, here goes... I'm 28 and live in Prince George, BC, Canada. I am currently unemployed, but I am also in the process of setting up my own computer sales and servicing business with my two room mates. My interests are music (singing specifically... My friends tell me I'm good, but I don't care. I think I might still do it even if they told me I suck. I'd just do it in private.), movies, computers, martial arts, and exploring the fascinating world of metaphysics. I've already posted my favourite songs, so I'll do my (rather mundane) Jewel story... It was shortly after YWMFM first hit the airwaves. I was instantly entranced with this woman's voice. I kept hearing this song, but was never able to find out who did it. I kept missing the name. One day, I was watching Much Music (the Canadian equivalent of MTV), when I caught a double shot of this singer, Jewel. They played WWSYS, and I thought, "Hey! She's good! I'll have to look for this album." Then, they played YWMFM, and I flipped! THAT'S who does this song! I went out immedeately and picked up POY. And I've been hooked ever since... Well, that's me. Sorry for boring you all to tears and taking up space in the Jewel list. Hope you all have a good one. Keep smiling! Oh well read and enjoy, or something. Hi angels- Just wanted to add my input to the current thread. My favorite songs by Jewel are 1000 miles away Have a little faith in me (I know this one wasn't written by her) and YWMFM I like the album version of YWMFM but I just received the GENESEO show from Janeene (Thank You, Janeene:-)) and heard the version she sung for that show. I like it a lot more. If you have heard it, it's got the same lyrics its just a faster rocky version. Anyway, I guess I'll end this now. I know since you all are already here that you already know this but still I felt like mentioning something. I have four pieces of Angel food currently. Every single one of them is unique with three or four songs that aren't on her album or on other Angelfood that I have. There is a lot more out there I have yet to hear. I'm sure she has enough for one or two more albums. But, she allows her music to be distributed through this group for free. Some other groups give us an endless bombardment of music that is unoriginal in album after album, only to make as much money as possible. Jewel on the other hand gives us unique beautiful music for free. So I'm sure I don't have to mention this but support her sold works. I can't say I enjoy poetry all that much but I plan to by her two books when they come out next year to give her a few bucks back on what she has given to me/ us. I wouldn't worry about it too much though, as Award ceremonies don't really mean anything anyway. I bought a Album a few weeks ago, by Roni Size, and on the cover it said it had won the Mercury music prize. While I do agree that it is an excellent album, the fact that Roni Size is signed to Mercury and he won the Mercury award said to me that it was all a ploy to get people to buy the album by Mercury. In fact that is all awards are intended to do, promote the various artists. That is why I admire Bands that ignore awards and say how much they hate awards even when they are the ones getting it. I am so sick of ppl saying "......yes and it is very nice to be recognized , and I thank all my fans etc. etc....". Their was a awards ceremony in England last night, called the nme awards, and there was not one surprise for who got the awards. It was the same bands that will get the awards at all the other ceremony this year. What I am trying to say, is, don't worry if Jewel gets any awards. I doubt she will get any awards any time soon, the music industry has moved on to it's newest "fad", the spice girls. The spice girls will drop into obscurity once something else comes along. All that doesn't matter, because Jewel is here now, and her music sounds just as good now as when she was new .( if you are still with me , thanx) . The music biz has done it's job, it has brought her to our attention, and now we can enjoy her, and she can write her beautiful music without the pressures of "them". God, it was all so clear before I started writing, now it's all a memory of what I wanted to say, like a dream you can't quite remember. I hope I got my message across. anyway... seeya Mark you can laugh a spineless laugh we hope your rules and wisdom choke you ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Jan 1998 16:30:45 EST From: MuzikJok@aol.com Subject: Atlantic Records Email Does anybody know where I can email the record company and when the 50th Anniversary Concert is? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Jan 1998 15:16:06 EST From: MikeDreams@aol.com Subject: Re: WWSYS - Flowers Ah Ha! Foolish Games- I think this song is sad, but I like the music to it, and the words.. it reminds me of some person i know, but dont c 2 much anymore... Near You Always- I like this song, and how explains how people feel towards each other when they like some1, its a happy song, and how they want to b near you always... You were Meant 4 me- I like this song and its words, and how it tells of 2 people who love each other, in everyday life Amen- I think this song this is very sad, but i like it, and i always remember when she says "Peices of Us Die Everyday...," it gets 2 me.. The songs I didnt really like wuz Don't and Daddy, They sound hateful, and I dont understand her message in those songs, kan any1 tell me? When ever I listen to jewels music, its like thats all i want to do, just listen to the words.. do nothing else....
