I can get the Australian single of foolish games (CD)which has on it the following: 1.Foolish Games (edit) 4:00 which I think is the batman release??? 2.Angel Needs a Ride (non-lp bonus track) 4:17 3.Everything Breaks (non-lp bonus track) 3:21 for $7-95 Australian plus postage $2-50 give or take for a total of $10-45, about $8-00 US I suppose, which I am prepared to get and sent to a few overseas Eda's in exchange for them sending me some angelfood, thats tape plus postage. I have POY and some other angelfood, mostly only real audio stuff, but really I'd be interested in anything. If your are interested mail me and we'll organize it. But as always first in best dressed. If anyone else wants me to send them the CD single for money/money order, if you could let me know ASAP. On the superbowl thingy I think Jewel was great, they just started the recording to early while she was saying hi. It was actually the highlight of the game for me as I must admit that I struggled to understand most of the rules for the game. Its the first superbowl I have ever watched and I'm sure everyone here knows why I really watched it :) anyway thats my two bucks worth. I am a bit dissappointed in that I won't get to see Jewel on the Rosie O'Donnell show as we don't get that here but I will be able to catch her on Jay Leno!! (Can't wait) If anyone has a video with heaps of Jewel stuff on it, live stuff, concerts etc, and would be willing to dub it for me I would pay postage and for the tape if they would be kind enough to send it to me. Living in Australia I have never had the pleasure of seeing Jewel live, but I enjoy reading all of your posts describing what it was like, please keep them coming. :) If you have read this far you really are an angel :) thanx all you angels Craig the un-identified angel (sorry about the length) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jan 1998 17:28:07 EST From: HRENB Subject: JC: Review- Steve/Jewel show 1/26, long funny story, random notes, my ususal Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit Organization: AOL (http://www.aol.com) X-Mailer: Inet_Mail_Out (IMOv11) content-length: 4118 Sender: owner-jewel@smoe.org Precedence: bulk Hey Angels- Whaddup? Please No more superbowl posts, I'll puke on my keyboard! That said- heres another quick (lol) view of mondays Steve Poltz show. I bought my ticket- 11 bucks- 13.50 with the ripoff master service charge. I had to go because I had that gut feeling Jewel would show- (like the thanksgiving gig which I didnt go to ) and she did. At like 8:00 there were only like 50 people in there (The Roxy on sunset boulevard- it has a bunch of little tables and holds maybe 250 ? people. Lisa Sanders was cool- she has an awesome voice but needs to work on her stage patter a bit- she seemed tired or depressed when she talked between songs- but maybe she just had a bad day. Mary Dolan didnt sing too much, just a little back up, but she had a great voice also. One of the best songs "Jewel" was dedicated to you know who. Picture the indigo girls singing to the chords of "Morning Song" in mixed up order and thats just what the song sounded like. Anyways before they started Steve just pulled up and walked in the front door- In his pickup truck I think. He was cool and friendly to everyone. (BTW when you called the Roxy hotline, the prerecorded message said Steve "Pollak" or "Politz" - a very Spinal Tapian mistake). I met a few EDAs there, Mike Dreams and Larry, and a few who's names I forgot. I was sitting by myself mostly, black shirt, in the last row of tables on the floor (I was by myself becuz I am having trouble getting my idiot friends to appreciate quality music and also cuz I'm the LoneWolf :). Okay so anyways I go to get a beer and come back and these 2 ladies and a dude are sitting at my table, at which I had left a tape recorder, posters, sunglasses, my other beer, and various personal stuff that any idiot could see someone was sitting there. So I said excuse me thats my table, but you can share it and use two of the chairs. So she looks at me offended like and goes " Were from Mercury records". I go yeah and you just walked in, I've been sitting there for an hour and a half. (I should have said good, Ill send you my demo tape). So the ladies sit down at the chairs I offered them and the guy gets on his knees next to them. Steve just starts playing and she goes, "Steve is our artist, and my friend is a VIP, why dont I buy you a beer and you give up your chair." I looked at her like she was insane and politely declined her generous offer. (If they were such VIP'S why werent they in the front row or backstage). So thats my cheesey Hollywood industry people story . Okay, Ill try to get this over with- I think Larry posted most of the set list. For you detail mongers, Steve wore red plaid pants with a light blue cowboy shirt and brown leather jacket. Jewel joined on 3 songs, and was wearing brown pants, a white shirt and light greyish? leather blazer. She looked fabulous, but sorry fellas, I think she was with her boyfriend. Steve was awesome- go buy his CD "One Left Shoe" on March 17. After the show he signed autos and took photos with everyone. This was the second time I met Jewel and like a Jackass I didnt have a camera again. She signed a tape cover for me, but looked a bit weary- I felt kinda bad- but she is soo nice to her fans, and dont believe any negative b.s. you read- I have never met a performer who spends as much time with fans as her. So in the future I wont ask her for an autograph, just say hi and great show. I did ask her if she was scared singing the national anthem (probably the 100th person to come up with this original question) and she shrugged and was like naaah, it was just a football game. Okay enoug babbling. Lisa Sanders w/ Mary Dolan- 7.5 out of 10 (although her "Rainbow" with Steve was a 10. Steve Poltz w/ the Apostles and Jewel 9.5 out of 10 - He was hilarious and heartfelt. Hi to newbies Kirsten, Eden, Laura, Vernon, Kate, Tina and others I cant think of right now- I'll adopt some more soon. Also Ill do the Sylvia Plath thing soon I promise- Peace Out - Oh my Ive been on lunch break for 1 and a half hours! Im screwed! I was flipping through this magazine called BAM in English class today. BAM is a music magazine that's freely distributed at music stores and newsstands in California's Bay Area. There was a two page ad in it for the 21 Annual California Music Awards. There was a list of nominees and Jewel was nominated for Outstanding Female Vocalist and was pitted against the likes of Gwen Stefani and Paula Cole. There were others, but I forget their names. Info: Where:Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, San Francisco Time:7:30pm Price:$100, $60 and $30 Tickets:(510)762-BASS I guess the main question is, is this award's show important enough that Jewel would attend? Just wondering, 'cause if she makes an appearance there, I'm gonna get myself a ticket. But I've lived in California all my life and never heard of it, so it's probably likely she won't be there. But for anyone who wants to go, I've posted the information. In the latest issue of seventeen(I think latest) there is a short paragraph about Jewel........ I tsaid something about how Jewel has hung up her guitar to star in a movie. It also mentioned a book of poems being published.... What I thought was funny was that they failed to say something about her new album! would probably clash with the 'jewel hungg up her guitar' thingg....... he he j/k bye Clearwater ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jan 1998 18:40:14 EST From: MikeDreams Subject: WWSYS - Flowers Some more, Adding to my last post, what I meant about the Flowers part, is what is Jewel saying in the 2nd and 3rd. I am relatively new and don't post very often but I have been reading everybody's posts about their favorite songs and I am so surprised by all the songs I've never heard before! I only have Pieces of You (the cd) but I am very interested in increasing my collection but I don't know what is the best (and since I am a college student, I need to be selective). If anyone has any suggestions and ways that I can acquire some Angelfood, I'd be very appreciative! And since everyone else has been sharing their favorite songs, I will share the ones that are most special to me. First, YWMFM got me hooked on Jewel. I heard that song and I thought it was absolutely beautiful. I also love Near You Always and Foolish Games. Those are my three favorites but I love all of her songs. Anyways, Thanks in advance for any help you Angels can give me! Anyone know? -Dew Introspective Angel ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jan 1998 21:26:25 EST From: Som1LykMe Subject: Hello all you EDA Ok...i've been on the list for a couple of weeks now, and i finally decide to introduce myself. My name is Chris Liv(that's Liv just like the word live, but with no 'e'), i'm 16(stay away from me on the roads), i live in durham, nc, i play tennis, and sit here listening to Jewel and sarah mclachlan. that's about all i do. I first heared Jewel's music in i think '96. I was flipping through channels and stopped on MTV to see a video. After the video i was watching came on, i heared this odd sounding guitar intro. It was the video for WWSYS. The first thought that came to my mind "hey this sucks" and l listened to a few seconds of it, then turned. I turned back because i couldn't find anything better to watch. A sat there and watched the last half of the video wondering what people were doing in a public bathroom. the music didn't really impress me at all and i never really gave it any thought. A couple of weeks later, i was watching MTV and they were broadcasting from the beach in California. then i saw a really good looking girl standing on a little stage. i heared her play a familiar guitar intro and i though to myself "hey, this is the girl you saw earlier but didn't like." I decided to actually listen to the song and kinda liked it a lot. i didn't hear much from her after that. A couple of months had passed when i was watching tv and i saw jewel's new video for YWMFM. i absolutely loved it. I didn't go out and buy the cd, because i'm usually not the kind of person who listens to music. So months passed and then i saw her FG video and fell more in love with her music. The agony of waiting for hours for the radio to play one of her songs became unbearable so i finally went out and bought POY. I listened to it straight for about a week because it was so good. She puts so much emotion into all her songs. i was online one day(while listening to POY) and thought maybe there're some cool web sites with her, so i looked around. i came upon a whole bunch and found one with a link to the EDA web page. I decided to take a look and after about a week, i joined. so here i am now listening to POY and enjoying all of everyone elses's stories. Ohh well...thaks if you're still reading this. i know it's long. OK BYE EVERYONE! ~The Fumbling Angel{\o/} /_\ PS- can anyone help me out with some angel food? all i have right now is POY. ohh yeah, are there any eda that live in durham, nc? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jan 1998 15:18:13 EST From: PENNY16161 Subject: Poll # 10 Here is this week's poll: Which song that Jewel has performed in a movie/on a soundtrack do you like best?
