First off, I saw Jewel sing the national anthem and it rocked! :) I would have said it looked like she didn't lip synk (she did, right?) except she missed the first word. Oh well. Did anyone else notice that? Okay, after listening to WWSYS a million+ times (listening to the CD at least once a day does that to you :) I've been wondering about the ending of it. In the POY booklet it says it's a repeat of part of it- probably the chorus, but I can't remember- and it's not. So, here's the question: what are the lyrics for the end of the POY version of WWSYS? My favourite Jewel songs are Sometimes It Be That Way Passing Time Last Dance Rodeo You Were Meant For Me Chime Bells Amen I love all of Jewel's songs, with the exception of "Love Me, Just Leave Me Alone". I was able to hear STIBTW and Chime Bells thanks to my first piece of Angelfood- thanks Jay! :) Well, I'm sorry about the length of this. Have a great evening! I think it was the BIGGEST SCAM in the world to see Jewel LIP SYNCH the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner. I'm sorry, but if you can't SING IT, why bother being there??? I think it's pretty sick and it really stunk that she didn't do it LIVE. Gives the "is it live or memorex" a BRAND NEW MEANING.. Man, that was lame. Sorry to get rattled, but it was rough. AND yeah, she could have done it. HELL, Roseanne did it (GRIN).. AND on a separate (not flaming Jewel note), I DID NOT mean to have that sound nasty, BUT I think it's rough to see someone so talented as her, NOT sing it real. Saw the results of the Age/Locale post, and I'm amazed at how many people from Jewel List live in Michigan! I'd love to hear from some of you PRIVATELY, and talk about stuff in private e-mail chatter if you ever get the chance. I live in Michigan as well, and would love to hear from ya.. :} dan Visit My Homepage! I mean , wow. It was the second time I have ever seen jewel on T.V, and I was really amazed by how remarkable she is . The best thing about it though, was the fact that I didn't even know that it was gonna be on until about twenty minutes before it started. I was surfing the T.V schedules looking for something besides the normal crap that is shown on a Sunday night, and I was amazed to see that Superbowl XXXXXX (or whatever) was on C4. I find it astounding that someone like Jewel has yet to make it to the British charts. And that brings me to something else. A few weeks ago, I asked everybody (yes that means you) to email a radio DJ, to pressure him into playing jewel. did anybody email him? I didn't think so :( How can we get jewel going over here if some of Jewel's biggest fans in the world can't be bothered to help to spread the message. I don't think that you are real edas at all :( Anyway, hopefully this will make you want to help. If you can be bothered, email the following mark.radcliffe@bbc.co.uk or simon.mayo@bbc.co.uk Anyway, if you can be bothered.......... I bought it for my collection but I probably will never play it again. It's very annoying, and no, it's not Jewel who sings it. I figured out the name of the singer -- JEM. Get it, it's like Jewel (J-E) and jewel is a gem. I thought it was the lady who played Jem's singing voice on the cartoon. She had no enthusiasm for her >county. She started right away and I felt that she didnt even care. Well, for one it's a documented fact that Jewel really dosn't like the song (source: Radio Angels). So it can be hard for somone to really get into somthing that you just don't have any heart for. Maybe she is loseing heart in it all, but I think it was less a lack of enthusiasm for her contry as it was a lack of enthusiam for the piece (maybe that's unpatriotic, but oh well). Laura P wrote: >The National Anthem sounded good, but Jewel definetly needs to work on >her lip-sinking skills! Did you guys see her? You mean how the words didn't synce up with her lips? Yhea, it was obviouse, mostly at the start of the song. That dosn't mean she was just moving her lips to a pre-recorded music. Another thing that you learn from the Radio Angels tape (from Jewel's story about singing the anthem at some baseball game) is that there is a several second delay from the time you sing the note from the time it is heard, so I personaly think that was the reason.
