She is in the March issue of Faces In Pop there is a small picture of her on the front so you will know if you have the right one. The poster inside is one of those 4 page size ones and is a good picture that I haven't seen yet and I have numerous mag. pictures of her so I reccomend checking it out. I also found a one page picture of her and a smaller b/w pic with a little info about everything she has going on in 1998. That is in 16 and is the march issue of that as well. I also found some import singles of her today at a local music store. They had the Australian import of Foolish Games, the German imports of WWSYS and YWMFM. They were selling for 11.88 each. Is that a good price to pay or not? Thanks, Karen ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Jan 1998 02:03:47 EST From: QTPYSK8R2@aol.com Subject: how i got into jewel hi peeps!!! everyone seems to be telling how they got into jewel.I actually got into jewel for a dumb reason.I REALLY liked a guy named Noah....so i found out all the stuff he liked.Well come to find out he loved Jewel. So i started to read up on jewel so id have something to chat with him about. At the time she had just made the video for "who will save your soul".I really didnt like jewel cuz i didnt dig the yodelling talent she possessed.Well i started talking with Noah about jewel and come to find out he didnt like her music but her!! all he kept saying was "if i ever met her i would kiss her and hug her...blah blah blah(self explanitory) well by that time i actually started to like jewel. Then when "you were meant for me came out"i fell in love with the song and immediatly bought the POY album.Around April of "97 i saw jewel in concert at the wilter theatre in cali...she was AMAZING!!! ever since ive been hooked.ANYWAYS thats how it happened!! just thought id share!! love always, jamie "twinkling angel" ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Jan 1998 01:49:05 EST From: Stugatz508 Subject: .WAV? I was just hoping that every Michigan EDA would send me their name, and where they are from and what angelfood they have and we can talk, and get to know each other and have meetings and stuff. BTW I have heard from a source that Jewel might be coming to inerlochen for a reunion or something like that in the summer. If you know anything about it, please tell me. Johnson" Subject: NJC: midwest EDAs, and my Jewel-like weekend sorry, I couldn't think of a good subject. Anyways, I really want to get an EDA gathering going sometime this late winter/spring/early summer here in the Midwest. So if you live in or near the Midwest, or would possibly be interested in attending something in the area, please let me know. Also, if you have any ideas for something to do, let me know also. Now for the second part. This doesn't really have any meaningful message, but I think it is kewel. Next weekend, I am going up with a group of friends to a place in northern Minnesota (which, in the wintertime is kind of like Alaska). We are staying in a log cabin w/o running water and TV (actually, without electricity), and it is called the Homestead. hmmmmm, that reminds me of someone else....(I know, it is alot different actually living and growing up without all the modern distractions, but I just thought I'd mention it). And hey, have a great day, everyday, in every way! My favorite song is by far 'You were meant for me'. It was the first song I heard of her, and it reminds me of the fantastic holiday I spent in California last summer, when we kept playing this song in the car over and over again. SOME songs...? Difficult, I think the first songs I heard from her are my favorites, although I haven't heard a song from her yet that I didn't like. I like "Who will save your soul", "Foolish Games", "Angel Standing By", and I also like "The Cold Song" and "Chime Bells". The last two songs I heard on her concert in Amsterdam. First: how got into Jewel. I heard WWSYS, and I wasn't very into it. I didn't hate it but I didn't want to listen to it all the time. then one day I went to my best friends house and she told me I had to listen to this song, it was Adrian. I asked her who it was by and she told me Jewel. So we listened to the whole CD and I loved it. The next week I bought POY and it didn't leave my CD player for a month. That was a while ago and I still listen to POY really often. The 2nd thread:Some of my fav Jewel songs. This is a hard one, cause I love them all. But if I have to choose, my top five would be: 1.Foolish Games 2.I'm Sensitive 3.Angel Standing By 4.Near You Always 5.You Were Meant for Me Yep, I think that's right. That's a hard decision. Oh yeah, if there's any Oklahoma EDA's out there, e-mail me privately and maybe we could get together or something. Brett The Angel Formally Known As..... ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Jan 1998 08:34:42 PST From: "Jewel Kaufman" Subject: Jewel In New Seventeen Magazine! And A Jewel Interview! Hi Everybody! This is my first post! I found a two paragraph story about Jewel on pg. 88 of the February issue of Seventeen Magazine, the one with Sarah Michelle Gellar on the cover. It is titled Hollywood's Shinning New Jewel, And it is about her new movie To Live On. Here it is: Jewel is about to put down her guitar and pick up a movie script. Next month the singer-songwriter will start filming To Live On, a Civil War drama directed by Ang Lee (The Ice Storm) that's due out at the end of the year. Jewel makes her acting debut as Sue Lee Shelley, a fearless frontier woman and the love interest of both Toby Maguire and Skeet Ulrich. No, she won't be serenading either heartthrob-hers is a nonsinging role. "I've grown tired of just performing (music," Jewel told us over the phone from Europe recently, where she was finishing her two-year world tour. "I've always welcomed new challenges." As if living out of a car, selling seven million records and starring in a movie weren't enough, Jewel is also adding writing to her list of accomplishments. A volume of poetry will most likely be published this spring. A tour diary-scrapbook-set to coincide with the release of her still untitled second album this fall-is also in the works. Does this mean we'll get to analyze the superstar's handwriting? "I'll write bits in the scrapbook," says Jewel, "but the poetry will be typed." No doubt she bought a laptop for Christmas. Well, that's the article. I also found something on a homepage. I don't remember which one but I remember the address of the clip. It is a clip from a interview with Jewel done before last years Grammies. It is very nice and it starts will her singing, goes into the interview, and has clips from the first version of the video YWMFM. I'd never seen the first version before. It doesn't take to long to download and it is worth it. The address is: http://hugse1.harvard.edu/~wangal/jewelretro2.mov I'm sorry, I really don't remember the title of the page. That's it for now! Hi everyone!!!! :o) I havent posted for a while but just wanted to mention a couple things.... ~POY... How I got Interested in Jewel~ I still remember well when I first got POY. I wuz in my sis's room doin a 3D puzzle thing ( which I never finished ). It was snowing out and the radio wuz playing. This is when Jewel wuz just becoming popular, about one or two years ago, this month. I didnt really know who she was at the time. She played on the radio twice You Were Meant For Me, then later, Who Will Save You Soul, that evening. I didnt relize either of the songs were hers... I didnt know who sung them, but it was like I think Jewel sings Who Will Save Your Soul... maybe. Well, I sat on the beanbag and wuz going through the BMG magazine (the first time I was joining it ). It was like I had to pick 12 tapes or somtin ( the offer with ask a friend (me) pick more cd's or somtin ). Well, I had gone through picked all the ones I wanted, but had a couple more to pick. So, I picked maybe ones too. I saw Jewels pic and tape in it. I wasnt sure who she was; but, then she was playin on the radio (Who WSaveYSoul). I thought that was her. But anyway I liked her name too. So, I said wat the heck and got it. About a month later I finally listened to it. Then I was hooked. I loved the music and the lyrics. As time passed I liked her more day by day. I also found out a lot of my friends loved her too. ~NJC- Buffy the Vampire request~ Just wondering if any buffy fans tape the two part previous shows. I usually dont tape the shows, but i REALLY like that two part special and want to see it again. If anyone taped it and would be willing to copy it and send me a copy I would really appreciate it. I would pay for all the usuals. If you can PLEASE email me back. Also, in one of here episodes she mentions somtin like, I have to live everyday like its my last or something. If you have the exact quote please email it to me, I'd be grateful (i think its from last seasons shows, or a very old one). As so, is you have any buffy pics online or anything you would share I'd like to, scince I got none (or where I can get posters ect.) Thanks. ~Final Notes, Old Emails Written to Me~ I just ordered the Jewel Calender from: http\\www.jeweljk.com . I cant wait to it comes in!! I also want to get some more things, but I cant right now. Angelfood offers to me: thanks to those that offered!!! I got the tapes, but keep getting the wrong kind, then 60 min. ones instead of 90 min. ect... So, I plan to go and get the tapes soon, for the third time, I'll email you back when I send it, thanks!!! Another thing, some people wrote to me a long, long time ago (like December or something). If I never wrote you back, PLEASE write back to me. My computer crashed and I lost EVERYTHING (most of my mail wuz in flashmail). So, if you wrote, write back again, and I'llglady reply back. Thanks! Thats it for now, I didn't relize it would be sooo long. PS: also if you have any Jewel Pics you can share em me, I'd love more, and I dont have that many.
