I am so happy about this! :) I will also include a little dedication that will be printed along with my poem. I am going to say a big thank you to Jewel, who has been the biggest inspiration in my life, and also to you Everyday Angels, who have been such great and wonderful people. Through thick and thin, we've managed to stick together. :) It'll be printed in that book of poetry for generations to come, and it reflects who I am today and who I can become in the future. Thank you so much EDAs. There is NO WAY this could have been possible if Jewel and the EDAs had never existed. :) Love always, The Distant Angel :) __________________________________________________________________ (` + + | _ +| Inside my heart there's an empty room. _)|)(||`|<_\ +| It's waiting for lightning; it's waiting for you. + | mark + + | -=Jewel "Absence of Fear"=- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Jan 1998 02:46:02 -0800 From: "David Loewen" Subject: Jewel Theme Hello, fellow EDA's! In regards to the Windows 95 Jewel theme I'm creating, thanks for the response I've gotten so far! I'm hoping to have it done by this weekend. I've noticed we're finally seeing our international EDAs coming online, and wanting tapes. I think this is a wonderful thing, but it does complicate the postage picture a bit. When copying for newbies with nothing to trade, I've always just had them send me blanks and return postage, I copied and sent them back in their own envelopes, and this has been fine for US edas. The problem I'm noticing regarding international requests is that the postage can easily exceed the cost of the tapes, so it seems wasteful to have them send the blanks and have to pay 2 way shipping on a package that usually weighs at least 5-6 ounces (2 tapes is about average) I'd like to be able to offer the option of just sending me money for tapes and postage, reducing the first one way to a simply one ounce letter, but the question of how much to charge for tapes + postage is a tricky one. According to the post office chart I was looking at, all mail from the US to any country but the US, Canada and Mexico would cost US$5 for a 6 ounce package. Does this sound right to those of you who do a lot of international tape sending? For something like Innerchange Days, this would mean a total cost of around $9 for 2 blank typeII 100 minute tapes ($2 each) and the postage. This still sounds high to me, does anyone have some other system to make it easy to get tapes outside the US? Theresa The Analytical Angel ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Jan 1998 12:07:45 EST From: ABershaw Subject: MrBB-Tonight Show/Releases & other info Hi again, Jewel's upcoming Tonight Show appearance is sheduled for Wednesday February 4th. Lenedra told me there is a possibilty that it may be switched to January 28th or 29th, though. I'll have confirmation on the date early next week. Jewel will not be performing at the AMA Awards, but will be attending. The performance slots for the Grammies have not been totally assigned yet, but a performance by Jewel is very unlikely since those slots primarily go to artists with multiple nominations. Definate info as I know it, but a performance is doubtful. Steve Poltz's solo album "One Left Shoe" which contains 3 songs featuring Jewel & a 4th written with Jewel will be released on March 10th on Mercury Records. Jewel also recorded "You Make Lovin Fun" for an upcoming "Rumors" Fleetwood Mac Tribute Album. This album was offered to Reprise who turned it down. Lava/Atlantic picked it up & will now release it on March 3rd. Two other things are of interest that are tentively scheduled for mid March. One is the highly anticipated "Lilith Fair Live" double CD. This could very likely get delayed though. More info & Jewel track info is unavailable at this time. More info as I know it. The second thing is a major celebration concert in honor of Atlantic Records 50th Anniversary. Jewel will likely perform at this although details are unknown at this time. I'm guessing this will happen at Madison Square Garden in NYC. It will feature many of the most memorable artists on Atlantics vast roster including several high profile reunions, I'm sure. I would expect this to be broadcast live in some form, but don't know any details at this time. Hope everyone is doing well & talk to ya soon, MrBB ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Jan 1998 17:36:50 -0500 From: owner-jewel@smoe.org Subject: [none] by spectra.net (8.8.3/8.8.3) with SMTP id RAA20823; Thu, 22 Jan 1998 17:30:42 -0500 Message-Id: <199801222230.RAA20823@spectra.net> X-Sender: ducksoup@spectra.net X-Mailer: QUALCOMM Windows Eudora Pro Version 4.0 Date: Thu, 22 Jan 1998 17:31:35 -0500 To: Hotbod2472 , jewel@smoe.org From: Mike Connell Subject: Re: Super Bowl (when Jewel will likely be singing) In-Reply-To: Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" content-length: 524 Sender: owner-jewel@smoe.org Precedence: bulk Theresa wrote: >Does anyone know what time Jewel will be singing the National Anthem at the >Super Bowl so we can set our VCR's accordingly? According to the Super Bowl Host Committee Web Site. kickoff is scheduled for 6:18pm (Eastern Time), 3:18 PT. Since the Super Bowl *Game Show* starts at then top of that hour, I'd say you are safe to tape from the top of the hour to maybe 23 minutes after, in case they run late (usually not the case with the Super Bowl, they are usually pretty much on time :) Mike :-) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Jan 1998 18:12:41 -0500 From: Mike Connell Subject: Jewel mailing list: strange headers/emails problem explained (sort of) Hi folks, To the newer folks here, I'm Mike and am the owner/manager of the Jewel mailing list and its' digest version. I know you all have been seeing some strange looking emails from the Jewel list lately. They say they are from "owner-jewel@smoe.org", have no subject and also have this in the headers: Apparently-To: jewel-outgoing@smoe.org Precedence: bulk To: undisclosed-recipients:;;;@smoe.org; Then you see an actual letter from a list member. All I know is the problem IS in my email program and/or at my end. I recently upgraded from Eudora Pro 3.05 to 4.0 and ever since then, 3 or 4 posts a day from list members that I send on to the list end up with this problem. All I can say is, I am working on it. However, if you want to REPLY to one of these emails that show up FROM "owner-jewel@smoe.org", do NOT just hit the reply button. You'll have to read the email to see who the email was really written by and send the reply to them by either typing in their email address manually or cut and pasting it in. Also, to all the list members whose posts to the list have and perhaps still will suffer this fate, I whole heartedly apologize.
