I just think that to me it sounds like she may not be the Angel that people think she is ..... Hi Angels ! You know, usually when this "Jewel's character" debate pops up on the list I do what most EDA's do I think. I sit back, relax and watch the clouds roll by until more fruitful discussions arise. But I have to post now as it really starts to annoy me. First of all: Have you ever noticed that all of those "Jewel being mean" posts go like : "I got a cousin and she's got a friend, who thought that her aunt knew a man who heard Jewel say...blah..blah..". But o.k. lets suppose all of this is true...... SO WHAT ??? In my oppinion that's just GREAT. She's a real human being afterall. Prone to mood-changes and having high and low days. And she has never claimed to be anything other than that. To me that just adds to the credibility of her music and her lyrics and to the attraction she has on me. So please my Angels don't try to put her up on the pedestal of perfection, 'cause it's just too high to climb upon for any human being may it be Jewel or you or me. Don't let us, her biggest fans, become just another burden on her shoulders by expecting her to be immaculate. Just like her the way she is (which I don't find hard to do) or let it be. This way we might just become (or stay ?) as special a thing to Jewel as Jewel is to us. One of the things her music taught me was that it is o.k.to be yourself. To express your emotions, whether good or bad without fear. Why shouldn't it be o.k. for Jewel to do so too then ? On another thing: Matt Adler stated that he thought we wouldn't deserve to be called Angels right now. I think that's a little harsh. Just looking at what is posted to the list sometimes you may come to this conclusion. BUT: every single list member that I got in contact with privately (you know who you are...) is WELL worthy of this name ! That's keeping in mind that none of us is an angel and that at best we're trying to be like an angel. I think our fellow EDA Mary has found the best "Angel-name": the _wannabe_ angel. Hey you guys, Guess what. 99X(radio station) does this thing called the CD count down on Saturday afternoons and it is the top 30 CDs of the week. Well, today was the top 30 CDs of '97. And Jewel came out #1! (Of course) The thing that amazed me was that, 99X never plays Jewel except maybe once a year or something and today they played her back to back. It was a cool how they setted it up. They announced that Jewel was number one and then told of how for a year POY sat in the stores untouched and then for the past year it's been selling like crazy. I know all of us knew that but it was cool that they said all that much. AND THEN, they played WWSYS and just as that ended they played Jewel saying "Hey this is Jewel and your listening to the CD Countdown on 99X." It was soooooo cool (I thought anyways). And then started playing the radio version of YWMFM. I LOVE THAT VERSION! But anyhow, I was just so excited that I had to share this with you guys. ;-) SARAH P.S.
