He was an all-star first baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League in the early 90's. He had a large part in the Phillies championship run to the World Series in 1993.(the last true world series) The following year was strike ridden, and in the off season he was diagnosed with cancer, he made a short appearance for the Chicago White Sox in '95, and '96. But, then retired, there was some talk about him coming back recently though. The reason he is mentioned in this song is because he is quite a large man. Not big, but fat. Hope You all had a Happy New Year, and I hope we are together for many more to come. :) Love Me, JonBoy911 PS- I FINALLY updated my webpage. http://members.aol.com/JonBoy911/JON.html ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 1 Jan 1998 19:40:17 EST From: MAXMOUZE Subject: Re: Jewel on Jewels plus a question In a message dated 98-01-01 16:45:59 EST, balfe@indigo.ie writes: << is this the only song on the Net where she does a duet with Steve poltz and finally if I was to buy a rugburn album which is the best one ? >> I don't know who John Crook is. Ironically, I was just wondering this about two hours prior to reading this. No, "Silver Lining" is not the only duet Jewel does with Steve. Other duets include "Old Lover's House", "My Body Is Changing", and "I Thought I Saw You Last Night". All four of these songs are really good, and I have been playing "I Thought I Saw You Last Night" and "My Body Is Changing" over and over and over today. Ironically, these two songs have been stuck in my head -- and they are both Steve/Jewel duets. Funny you should bring the subject up. As for the Rugburns album you should get, definitely get "Taking the World By Donkey". Not only is it my favorite Rugburns album, it is one of all-time favorite albums. And, it has "Old Lover's House", the aforementioned duet with Jewel and Steve, on it. Great song. Great album. Great band. This time it's in Europe. Every week NBC-Europe ask their viewers what they call an "Interactive Question". This weeks question is: "Who do you think should be the 1997 person of the year ?" The answer is clear, isn't it ? So go here: http://www.nbceurope.com and follow the link that says "Interactive Question". And hurry ! It's only up there for one week. I was in row AA, Seat twelve, That's right behind the first banner thingie, I was the kid in the blue jacket just incase you saw me, well, that $150 was my Christmas Present and I'm rather upset about how crappy it was, Jewel was Great, but short, but the crowd needed to get sober and SHUT UP!!!!! thank you very much! First off, I want to wish every one a very happy New Year!! I envy all of you who got to see Jewel last night, even if you say it wasn't the best preformance.....I still haven't seen her in concert. :( What songs did Jewel sing? Anyway, I was watching TV this afternoon and I happened to stop at a figure skating show. I sat there thinking, hey, I know this song, and it was Angel Standing By! I think that's gotta be the best song there is for figure skating; anyone agree? I can't remember who it was skating, but it was someone from China (or that's what I think tey said). Also, Katy (the Brazilian Angel), could you please e-mail me again? My e-mail got screwed up and wouldn't let me send a message to ya. Okay, I know I had one more thing to say but I can't remember it, so good bye angels!! ~Tasha~ The Little Angel (\o/) /_\ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 01 Jan 1998 02:25:34 -0800 From: Jan Winters Subject: HUNGRY FOR ANGELFOOD?
