Ok I was wondering if anyone happened to have the setlists for the Irvine and Seattle Lilith Fair tapes for Jewel? If anyone happens to know the song I'm describing could they send me lyrics if they have and I still want the setlists too! Thanks everyone and have a good night! I really like how you can understand just about every word she says. Most singers these days sing really fast, and are hard to understand. Also her lyrics have so much meaning, and as you can tell, she sings with feeling and enthusiasm. She is the best female singer, and she is a really good person. That song is spoken in the voice of a young male just like the voice in "Boy Needs a Bike," which is identified as "Ride Away" in older Jewel setlists and the Innerchange Days tape for example. The two songs share more than just male perspective. Both perfectly capture the blue collar working class family without being obvious or trite. They both also wrestle with childhood confusion at a parent's actions and illuminate the perspective of a child who is trying to express something to a parent but finds getting their point accross difficult. If you can find "Used Cars" it's definitely worth a listen, as is the entire NEBRASKA album, one of Bruce's best but highly underrated because it didn't sell well as most of his albums did. "Boy Needs a Bike" is great too. It's one of my top 10 favorite Jewel songs by far. The version she did on Unplugged was exceptional, maybe the best I've ever heard. It also brought the song back to some of her setlists in a resurgence of sorts. It had been notably absent and a true rarity for quite some time. There are numerous similarities between Jewel and Springsteen, especially in her live shows, her friendly storytelling style and interludes between and during songs are remarkably similar to how Springsteen explains and gives background info on his lyrics and songs during his live shows. Both also feed heavily off an audience meaning that the better an audience is the more they can feed off of that and give outstanding shows. Unfortunately it works in reverse especially for Jewel in that a bad audience will evoke a subpar show from her. But it's not her fault that overpopularity makes a lot of jerks and non-fans turn out for her shows now. Anyway, I'm rambling.
