Billboard is suppossedly on sales but i don't think so. i guess the music industry wanted to make the country singers happy. and toni braxton? what is that. i have to say jewel should've won artist and best single. jewel has been on the billboard artist chart for like what in the top ten for nearly 100 weeks?. which is amazing and she didnt win the artist of the year? that just amazes me. i have to say these music awards are all crap. what it all comes down to are business and that sorts of stuff. - -alan- some kinda angel i guess ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Dec 1997 02:17:40 EST From: JEL88 Subject: jewel in movie & on MSCL &... Well, I just completed my last final and I am officially on Christmas Break!!!! :) I figured that since I now have all of this free time on my hands, I would make this offer to all of you-particularly those of you who are still searching for that first bit of Angelfood. I am willing to do the following for about 10-15 people. All you have to do is send me an e-mail telling me your name and address and a non-POY song that you have heard mentioned on the list and would like to hear. If I have that particular song in my collection, I will send you a copy of the tape it is on. This is a totally free of charge deal. I will cover the cost of the tapes and postage. Like I said I can only do this for about 10-15 people so the first people to respond to me PRIVATELY will get the tapes. Make sure to put ANGELFOOD OFFER in the subject and I will respond to those of you who are getting a tape. I will probably do this again after the New Year so keep your eyes open. Take care everyone! She only took about 10 min or so though - certainly not 45 min. and I don't remember her even asking us to be quiet, but she may have and I have forgotten it. I'm just still hoping that someday the entire set will be released as a CD - I saw that Maxwells' (recorded immediately prior to Jewel) has been out for at least a few months. Guess that would mean there *may* be a good chance for next year. That is, assuming she can squeeze it in with recording for Fritz Creek Store, the movie, the book writings, touring etc. She's gonna be one busy gal in '98 too. Hi all you happy, singing angels! I JUST got this info from Jewel's official website (www.jeweljk.com) and I thought you like to read it. Enjoy. ******jessika******** The newest little angel "HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Pop singer Jewel is in advanced talks to make her feature film debut as the female lead in a Civil War drama called "To Live On." Tobey Maguire is attached to co-star in the $35 million Fox project, and sources say the studio is talking to Matt Damon (Courage Under Fire) for the other lead. Ang Lee (The Ice Storm) will direct. Jewel will play the love interest of two young men whose lives change during the denouement and aftermath of a year of fierce guerrilla warfare on the Kansas-Missouri border. Described as "Platoon" in America, it's based on the novel Woe to Live On by David Woodrell. The picture is slated to start shooting in March. Jewel, whose last name is Kilcher, is currently on tour in Europe. She has made a meteoric rise from Alaskan unknown to recording star. Her 1995 debut album "Pieces of You" has sold more than 5 million copies and has vaulted her to the forefront of the latest wave of successful female singer-songwriters. Now, following in the steps of Madonna, Whitney Houston and Courtney Love, Jewel looks to become the latest musical diva to make the jump to the big screen. Hey Angels !!!! VH-1 cable music channel has a series called "Hard Rock Live" which tapes & broadcasts live concerts, much like MTV's "Unplugged". Scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, 2:30pm Eastern & Pacific, is Jewel's HRL performance, which she recorded back in February and which has been rebroadcast several times since. It's a pretty good show, worth watching & taping if you haven't seen it before. I got this info not off of VH-1's web page but rather from another source, a web page called "Rock On TV" (http://www.rockontv.com). That's a really good page for people who want to know what music's going to be on the tube, whether it's late night shows like Letterman or Leno or cable channels like MTV or VH-1 or MuchMusic. I guess that I should say, then, that I didn't get my info from VH-1, but I would still bet that it's probably going to be on tomorrow afternoon, since Jewel's up for "Artist Of The Year" & they're rebroadcasting all of that stuff this weekend. This show is 1 hr. 3 min. long, so give yourselves an extra minute or two at the beginning and end if you're taping Sincerely, Greg ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 12 Dec 1997 14:46:26 EST From: pres2@juno.com (phillip Brady) Subject: artist of the month?
