I'm with Sinjin on check-out times. I really appreciate Java Joe letting us stay over, and I'm glad Wendy's said they'd think about doing it again. If so, definitely, can we make check-out like, say, 9 or 10 a.m., eh? (I don't say eh? I say hey, but it's a Canajun myth, so... ) Much as I had fun wandering Ocean Beach with everyone at that hour, Dempsey's doesn't open 'til 8 a.m. and that's the place with the best recommended breakfasts. In-n-Out burgers? I heard Gregory Page tell everyone to go for a Ho-Dads burger - which is tops? Hey, I agree with everything BUT how can anyone say American beer beats Canadian!? Just avoid our big beer labels - e.g. Labatt's and Molson - and find a Canuck microbrewery and you'll be transported to a glacial stream with frolicking fawns and bear cubs playing alongside the check-shirted dudes tapping maple trees. If you have a single shot thats particularly good of any of the artists at the Java Joe's gigs, also please contact me. I'd also like to find a good shot of Wendy & one of John Castro at the LRT on Wednesday. All these will be considered for the j-card artwork for the upcoming Future Folklore tape (with photographer credit given, of course). YWMFM has dropped out of the UK singles top 75 after just two weeks. There's still no sign of Pieces Of You in the album charts yet. Foolish Games is to be released in the UK on the 5th January 1998, and those with access to cable or satellite can see the video on The Box music channel, it has selection number 190. Review of Angel Standing By. "Here is one more portion of Jewel's mega-huge 'Pieces Of You' - and it's, by far, the most affecting and original offered to radio so far. Jewel travels to the higher regions of her vocal range, weightlessly gliding over a delicate acoustic guitar melody with soft, poetic lyrics. Tara's welcome was interesting, as she paralleled each classmate and the class as a whole with the rings. Think about a ring...a complete circle...365 degrees of an infinite amount of individual points, each occupying one infinitely small space. It makes me think about life, how circular everything in life is...how life is measured in time...how life IS time. It is time which is measured, in its purest sense, in an infinite amount of moments each occupying a distinct measure of space and each moment occupying its own infinitely small amount of time. Each moment itself is special and contains infinite possibilities, infinite thought, infinite hopes, and infinite dreams. The extremity of all this is so huge that, oftentimes, we don't even realize just HOW MUCH happens in one moment. What never ceases to amaze me is how, in that same distinct time of each individual moment, every other person on this planet is having an individual distinct moment. But each moment is completely different. Each dream and hope and thought and possibility is different. Each soul is different. And each of us is different. We are each a distinct, finite, unit of being...like a point on a circle...and in when seen as each moment being one point in our own circular lives and each person-each soul-is just one point of equally infinitely small but necessary size in the completion of this circular, never-ending universe in which we live. It's really amazing to think of life in these terms...when you look at our universe in which we occupy space and time as a circle and each being of creation as what we really are, an infinitely small point equal in stature, infinite size, and space occupied, as every other point, but absolutely...and infinitely...necessary for the completion of the circle. It makes you realize more completely the greater good in life and the greater good OF life, you know? All these things we worry about...who owns what album, how many concerts you have been to, how many times you have met Jewel or Tara or anyone else, whether or not you host/sponsor/organize a get together of sorts, whatever, in the grand scheme of things, does it matter? What is its greater good? It's funny to think about this and to think about life...when you see yourself as this one point in this great circle, you know that there is a greater good to life. And the only thing necessary to keep the circle complete is for each point to exist. And to exist and fulfill your obligations to your space and time, every infinitely small moment must matter. Every dream, every hope, every thought. That is all we truly need to just be and to just fulfill these obligations to containing our infinitely small space and time which has been granted to us. It's a lot to live up to, but, really, it's not too much, especially when seen in a relative manner to each other being and unit of creation. Each creation's ultimate goal and purpose is to be. But do not be fooled..."being" does not mean just sitting there like a rock on a cold winter's ground. To be you must be at all moments. You must live at all moments. You must occupy your complete space at each present time, at each moment. Or else your space is not occupied and you are attempting to diminish the gift of being an equal point and creation necessary for the completion of our universe. Just think about this. And think about your own life...about each moment and the space you occupy. Make every moment count. Look for the greater good of everything. Follow your dreams. Measure your successes and failures in light of each moment and the space you occupy. Live and be alive. This is my challenge to all of you. And I would not challenge you like this if I did not know that you could rise to my challenge. I know you can do it. I know *I* can do it. Think. Feel. Dream. Hope. Notice all this. Keep in mind the greater good (or the potential greater bad) which comes and which can come from each moment in which you occupy your space. When you think about all this, question what matters and what doesn't matter. Even on the most trivial levels, such as your posts to the list or on the most intricate and important levels, such as the job you work and the ways in which you occupy your space. Maximize yourself. I know it seems like an oxymoron, since we occupy infinitely small units of space at each infinitely small moment in time, but maximize all this. Occupy your full space. Savour each moment to its fullest. Life can be pretty amazing!
