NIKO's is practicly my life story. "might as well smile because there's no point in being mean" that brings chills to my bones. my sister was basicaly Nikos. "and this song goes out to Nikos wherever you may be. i know things were tough but your okay by me. and your momma aint a bad person, my daddy's ain't no fool, sometimes parent's just need forgiving too. ps i love you, your sister jewel". i recently found one of my sister and I read that to her. we both burst out in tears. it touched a piece of our souls that we didn't even realize was in so much pain. just about all of her songs touch me in such an amazing way. her words are beautiful and passionate. what i love is that she is still human. she's an every day angel. so if anyone would like to share with me what songs really touch them, please email me. which of her songs touches you so deeply that you are shocked anyone could look into you like that...without ever seeing you or even knowing your name. kat ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 05 Dec 1997 20:41:02 PST From: "chris rodriguez" Subject: Re: JEWEL SONGS (HAVE THEY TOUCHED YOU???) Well my story is simalar to Natasha's in that i used to take drugs everyday until i heard Jewel's voice singing Little Sister with all the stuff about (the sister) when she said "zombie in a body " well thats how i felt so i did some really hard thinking while listening to the rest POY and got to the conclusion that i didnt need drugs and that i wasgoing to quit one way or another. and well since that day i have always admired Jewel for something she did not even knowing she did it. well ill stop blabing about my life Chris "The Pepsi Drinking Angel" ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 05 Dec 1997 21:25:34 PST From: "jewel fan" Subject: JC: Billboard/Lilith-CBC Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone knew if Jewel was going to attend the Billboard Awards? I don't really think so since no one has mentioned it yet. They are on Monday Night at 7:00 p.m. central time I think on FOX. She is nominated for Artist of the Year I think. I watched the Lilith Special on CBC tonight. It was pretty good, better than the VH1 special as far as performances went. It was more like a concert in itself. Here is a tentaive setlist as far as I can remember it: Jewel- Near You Always Sarah-Building A Mystery, Ice Cream, and two others that I can't think of the names right now. Meredith Brooks-Bitch Shawn Colvin- Sunny Came Home Indigo Girls w/ Sarah and Jewel- don't know the name of this either but Jewel and Sarah each had a part by themsleves - -a song that had pretty much everyone out there Jewel had a solo part in this as well, it was shown partly on the VH1 special, she also yodeled a little during this song Well now you all have an idea of what the show was like. OH and if the person that agreed to do a 15-11 tape trade with me is reading this I would really appreciate them emailing me ASAP with a list of the tapes you are doing for me and your address. If this sounds like you please get in touch. Thanks! - -Karen ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 05 Dec 1997 18:36:36 -0800 From: Sinjin Subject: Sinjin vs. a turkey @ EDAF Thanksgiving Let me begin my review of the EDAF Thanksgiving by making a public statement: If anyone ever invites me to spend the night at their place, DO NOT even think about kicking me out at 7am! There will be frisbees flying next time... OK, now on to the good stuff:) When I first arrived at Tom and Nancy's house I made my rounds welcoming everyone, did some time on the trampoline, and grabbed 3 other suckers to help me pick up the food. I've never seen so much food in my life! My tiny car was crammed with 3 passengers, each with a huge box overflowing of thanksgiving goodies. One wrong turn and I couldn't sent gravy flying all over Dennis Harris' lap (don't think I didn't try). Back at EDA HQ the food got set up and the real fun began. We were visited by some pretty nice folks with a group called The Circle of Friends. Not sure what that means, but as Dennis Harris put it, "They must be those dime a minute guys."* Anyway, as more and more people kept coming in through the Heavens Gate...er I mean, front gate the party was in full swing and we all noshed on some excellent food, cleverly avoiding the apple sauce. Speaking of good food, hey Chelsey and Dennis weren't those free sodas awesome! After grubbing, we met on the trampline to discuss the EDAF. Who's clever idea was this anyway, "Hey, let's get Sinjin stuffed with turkey, then send him bouncing around on the trampoline!" The meeting was a success, but due to my rather stuffed state, the only thing I can really remember being appointed to start a natural disaster for the EDAF to respond to. Problem is, none of the 'earthquake kits' they sell around here actually *start* an earthquake...what a rip! That night we headed to Java Joes (with the top down in my car, might I add for all you Cold Coasters!) and witnessed a kick-ass show! This was my first time seeing Tara, but certainly not my last. Everyone performed well that night, especially Wendy. I swear that "Wendy's Open Mic Night" song is top-ten material (hey, if the Spice girls can do it...) Jewel played, too. <---there's your damn JC Following the show, I snaked the best corner of the coffee house to sleep in..just beating my old friend Kookybaka out for the prime location. I was pretty sure he would serve me with an eviction letter though, can't trust those lawyers, right? ;) <---see Harris Internet Dictionary Skipping to the next morning :) we had to be outta Java Joes at 7am! How ungodly! Now I don't mean to diss Java Joe or insult his hospitality for letting us spend the night at his place, but damn that's early! Do you realize 7am is like waking up at 3am SST (Sinjin Standard Time)? Well we zombied to breakfast, then I had to split fromthe group till later that night for the Cindy Lee Berryhill show. I was bummed I missed Joy Eden Harrison, but CLB rocked! After the show I said my goodbyes to everyone who was leaving early the following day. The next morning started with some more goodbyes, and some weird water falling from the sky...some East Coasters said it was 'rain' or something, I dunno. Anyway, after about 4-5 hours of prodding, we finally convinced Amy to leave her couch and join us for a few games of bowling. Dennis, Kaili, Amy, Chris, and I bowled a couple of games. Since it has never been said that Sinjin is an impolite, arrogant bragger, I won't mention who won BOTH games :) I even scored a few stuffed animals from the Claw machine. Finally, we took the out of staters to In-N-Out burger for the full CA experience, returned to Tom and Nancy's and said our final goodbyes. Here's some words for all that attended: Amy Llama- Did they let you take the couch on the plane? Dennis Harris- My bro! But I'm still Anti-Harris 'Cute' Chris Crane- I know you're a pro bowler, you can't hustle the Sindog! Adrien de Canada- First ED-eh I've ever met, Canadian's are cool even though our beer IS better Garrett- Next time you better be wearing that blue hat or else! Garrett's girl- Thanks for the air mattress :) Kaili- Thanks for letting me win! Chelsey- Hope we didn't embarass you too much in front of your man Tom- Thanks for letting us trash your house Nancy- Hope your arm feels better Mr. BB- It's been a year and a half...nice to see you again! Let's not wait that long next time Mrs. BB- FINALLY got to meet you! You're as sweet as he says you are! Liz- OH my god! What happened to the little girl with 'Jewel' across her forehead? Shelly- you take care of your little sister, ok? Larry Greenfield- Larry's the man...'nuff said Eric Gartzke- I still can't spell your last name Jared- ...or should I say 'Commander Jarod'? Jared's friend- who's name I can't remember cuz I'm an idiot Kim Wilson- write me, no one has your email addy! BTW, nice tan Alyson- looks like you were right...hehehe ...and to EVERYONE I'm forgetting (I know there's a lot of you)- You guys are what made this weekend so much fun, let's keep getting together! Finally...to Crunch, Farrio, Akira and John Eric- WTF were you guys? Don't make me drag you here next time!
