Hello EDA's,

I am brought out of posting slumber to tell you of an extrordinary
happening. This past week saw the Gathering of Eda's from across the
continent to the San Diego region for days of music and fun times. Is
this the happening i speak of? Not really. How about Specifically the
LRT or The Pajama Jam at Java Joes....or was it Jewel making an
appearance? Nope. None of the above. 
 In many previous posts there has been a great deal of debate as to
whether this list is a medium for plain fans, angels, or even cultists
(my personal fav). But I would like to submit a new entry...Family. My
personal discovery of this simple truth is the happening which compels
me to write....I found a family when I sought to be an EDA this past
week and I hope to keep it forevermore. The funny thing is that these
people had been my family all along....they always were..I just had to
wake up to that fact. To keep the company I was priviledged to keep
over these past few days (yes even Lora..) is something I hope every
member of the list can experience once with their fellow EDA's..and
frankly one that I know that you all can  ....because it's there for
the experiencing.....you just have to find yourself willing to be
family in return. My one regret is that I waited so long . 

So I guess this is my message...don't wait ..if there is no Gathering
happening...get one going....meet for lunch ..hop on IRC...... write
that one more email than you might normally...you never  know who
might end up as family .......

Hi again EDA's. I'd simply like to take up a bit of your time to publicly
apologize to Mike for some of my snide, uninformed, and inconsiderate
comments aimed toward his decision to uphold all Marilyn Manson vs. Jewel
posts. Looking back, I now realize that some of the things I accused Mike
of were totally off-based, misinformed, and unappropriate. I've only been
on this list for a couple months now; my knowledge of the workings behind
jewel@smoe.org, and, in particular, the incredible amount of time, work,
and effort Mike puts into enriching each and one of our daily lives has,
until now, been very limited. For this I apologize; I'm not a stubborn man
by any stretch of the imagination, and I'm ALWAYS willing to admit when
I'am wrong. In this case, I was very wrong. The rashness of my opinion was
completely unfounded and rude. :o(

I hope this letter contributes in NO WAY to the continuation of the Manson
thread. I considered saying nothing in hopes of preventing it's spread;
however, in the end, I decided that it would ease my conscience a little
if I were to apologize to Mike. In fact, I think it's my place to
apologize to ALL members of this list; by posting such a long description
of my misguided beliefs, I wasted a lot of precious time that could have
spent elsewhere. Again, I'am sorry. 

Finally, I'd just like to say that Mike deserves a big "Thank You!" for
all his work that, basically, goes unnoticed. We ALL benefit because of
him; however, I'm willing to bet that the number of 'Thank You's' he
receives are far fewer than the complaints he gets about his decisions and
the (occasional) misworkings of the list. I think it's important to
remember that, without him, this list wouldn't even exist.

Mike, if you'll accept it, I'd like to apologize for my comments. They
were unappropriate, and unfair to you. To all the other Angels, I beg for
your forgiveness as well. Let's all try to make this a better COMMUNITY
for us to live. Afterall, we are all Angels (except for me) O:o).

and has thus made me very happy :)
As for the songs - here's how I interpret them:

- -Who will Save Your Soul- We should believe in ourselves more, look and 
see the real world around us, rather than sink into the empty shell 
created through the media. We should live today for today, use our 
freedom, rather then spend it trying to make sure we have it tomorrow.  

- -Pieces of You- Don't judge a book by it's cover - a girl can by ugly or 
pretty, a boy can be of any race or sexual orientation, if you use such 
details to make an opinion of the person, then you are the one who is a 
fault, not they. 

- -Little Sister- This is the stronest song of pain to me. It speaks of the 
pain caused by seeing civilization collapse into iself, because society 
is made up of people who are no loner concerned with it, but rather 
always chase after money and power. It's a wake up call to the listener - 
stop running away into your addictions - drugs, alcohol, tobbaco, 
entertainment - , and start fighting for your world. It's not an easy 
fight, and the way to fight is not plainly marked, but I am here to help 
you on your way. In a way, this songs marks to me the importance of the 
EDAs to me more the I'm Sensitive does. 

- -Foolish Games- Why can't we handle romance sincerly? Why are we forced 
to hide our feelings under a protective layer, keeping everyone out? Why 
must we hide ourselves under masks, only to discover that no one is as 
they seem, that we are being used by others?

- -Near You Always- I love you, and I know you love me, but we have already 
learned that we are no good together. Please don't break that distance 
we've worked so hard to keep, that allows us to be 'just friends', 
because I know I won't be able to keep from returning love, and I know 
we'll both end up getting hurt. 

- -Painters- Some things, like art and love, can take us out of this cold 
world and help us build our world to be a beautiful place where we would 
find happiness. Treasure these things, and learn how to better value 
them. 

- -Morning Song- Happiness is lazily waking up next to a sleeping loved 
one, knowing that nothing is gonna take that one away from you, felling 
the early morning sun caressing your and their skin tenderly and 
peacefully. 

- -Adrian- No matter what you do, the world will never be perfect. 
Something will always be wrong. Learn to accept i and live with it, 
rather then try to fight it and kill it always, and one day you may find 
happiness in spite of it. 

- -I'm Sensitive- Be aware of your actions and of your words. Without even 
realizing it, you are hurting people's feelings. Think carefully of how 
you phrase things, and of how you o about handling issues, and you may 
find better ways to express yourself, without hurting anyone. 
- -You were Meant For Me- I love you, and whether you realize it or not, 
you love me too, and we would be perfect toether (in a way, this is an 
antithesis for Near You Always). 

- -Don't- I don't like you, even though I love you. Please, ive me the time 
I need to recover, because being with you causes me pain (nothing personal)

- -Daddy- You may be my parent, but that doesn't make you a good person. I 
think you are prejudiced and narrow minded, and maybe I'm complicated and 
all, but you have some part in that too. Leave me be!

- -Angel Standing By- Relax. You need some rest. Things will be clearer if 
you just think them out. Nothing will happen if you took a short break, 
rest your head on my shoulder, and articulate your troubles to me. It 
won't solve you problems, but you'll be able to reason them out, and 
it'll probably make you feel a bit better about yourself. 

- -Amen- Life isn't always fair. Sometimes even the people you've come to 
depend on the most will fail you. Don't lose faith. Believe (this, btw, 
is the literal meaning of the word "amen"). Don't lock up your pain 
inside, but rather, let it out, focus it constructively, rather then let 
it eat you inside and pour it all out in a destructive surge of anger. 
There's nothin wrong with being human.

	A couple people posted what they thought the meaning to "Near You Always"
was. I can see how they got these ideas, but to me personally it had a
different meaning.Go back and listen to the song again, but this tome try
to picture this situation: 
	A girl is completely in love with her boyfriend. However when she starts
to think her boyfriend does not love her anymore, and it looks like things
are over she turns to another for comfort. The whole time she is with him
she pictures him in her mind as the guy who is her present boyfriend, and
goes as far as to sleep with him. things eventually get better with her
boyfriend, and she never has anything to do with the other guy again, but
she remains friends with him. A little time goes by and the guilt eats her
up inside so bad that she tries to kill herself. When her boyfriend sees
the cuts on her wrist he forces her to tell him what's going on. She does.
After about a month he finally calms down because he realizes how horrible
he was being in the beginning, and how much they truely love each other and
forgives her. However the guy who she had an affair with is now in love
with her, and every time she talks to him memories of that night come back
in her head, and so do feelings of wanting to be with him again.She knows
that she does not want to be with him she loves her boyfriend but, she
can't shake the memory of being with him.

Hey Again Angels, 
    Alrite, so I know that these meanings are becoming the main subject of
the list right now, and some people are prolly starting to get tired of it,
but I love trying to analyze and interpret this kinda thing. Soo... anyways.
I understand how the song can mean *many* different things to others, but to
me... I think that maybe? it's like where the relationship is having a lotta
troubles, but when he comes home one day, he doesn't address it at all and
just starts in with some small talk about the weather. In this case I think
she feels like she doesn't understand or something... she sings about how
he's mysterious and how she feels like she's outside looking in. But, she's
real upset that he's not talking about it... so she sings about how her heart
is bleeding, meaning she's super upset about it. I think? Anyways, skipping a
bit, I think she's talking about how he's changed, or she realized more about
him over time... and he's not the same guy he was, he doesn't really care
about her like before. Oh yah, and maybe about the Mozart thing.. she's upset
cause he really likes Mozart and stuff... and she's struggling to be better
at the guitar and she needs some support from him that he's not getting. What
do you guys think? Sorry it's a bit long... write me back though, please...

wow I havent written in the longest time ....

Its been so great to read all the interpretations of all the songs. My
interpretations of Foolish Games and Dont are alittle more generic then
others, but they make alot of sense to me. Foolish Games has been my favorite
song since the first time I heard it, because I can really identify with what
I think it means. Its about a relationship thats ending, but the guy is being
really unsensitive about it (you stood in my doorway with nothing to say,
besides some comment on the weather...). But, the way it seems is that the
guy is naturally this way, he doesnt really know how to act. Kinda like the
jerk that girls go out with, and then try to change them, but they cant be
changed.  So hes being really careless about the breakup, about breaking her
heart. I wonder if this makes any sense to anyone besides me... The thought
about the obsessive relationship makes alot of sense, I like that one. 

Well, Dont is about a relationship that has ended, but the guy has come back
into the girls life, and she is reminded of how good it was, but at the same
time knows how much it hurt. She doesnt want to go through that again ... so
shes practically begging him not to make her fall in love with him again. Of
course, if it were a realistic situation, I'm sure the girl would fall in
love again ... 

oh yeah let me say something about Near You Always too. I think everyone was
pretty right on about this song. I always took it as meaning dont do all
those things, because your only here for a short time, and then your going to
leave.  I guess I take it that way because I've been in a long distance
relationship for awhile, and thats the way it seems to me.

this is a reference to belemia. I think it just means she screwed up a little
and is asking what this says about her in general.

hey all,
i know the thread is getting old but does anybody have any thoughts on the
meaning of this song?  when she says:
   "It's morning time, wonder where you are wonder who you're talking to
wonder if the sun has risen where you are it's morning time, i miss your
hands on my skin this bed's too big without you"
  it just seems like she's separated from a lover and misses him a lot.  then
in the chorus though, when she says:
   "I'm a thousand miles away, and I'm lying next to you."
it seems like maybe shes saying that i'm lying right here next to you but i
don't even know who you are anymore because you seem so distant.  i can't
tell which meaning it is.  maybe i'm just completely off!
