Well I subscribe to EW and there are two tid bits about Jewel....One is in a column called Hot Sheet...Its as follows... 7 Jewel A book of poems she will produce/Because hit songs give her the juice/ And Emily Dickinson can only yearn/For the 2 million clams that Jewel will earn. I believe the slashes are added to the ridicule they poke at Jewel here, because Jewel used slashes in her POY CD booklet...makes me mad...but nothing to bubble over about =) Then in the book section of EW in the column titled Between the Lines is the other bit...It is placed next to a HORRID drawing of Jewel that angered me....It depicts Jewel with a huge fat face....the article is as follows.... MUSIC TO HER EARS Jewel Kilcher, the 23-year-old-singer-songwriter better know as Jewel, who grew up on an Alaskan homestead without television or running water, has just made a $2 million, two-book deal with Harper-Collins. In keeping with the wholesome tenor of Jewel's multiplatinum-selling debut CD, Pieces of You, the first book, due in June '98 will be an as yet untitled volume of poetry. "They're typical girl stuff," an editor at rival house says of the poems. "Falling in love. Wanting to ride a horse. That kind of thing." The second book, timed to concide with her second album next fall, will be a memoir/scrapbook. Well thats all ... although the article wasnt that bad the drawing is just yucky.... Send me e-mail if you like...I'm a newbie...=) I am 17 and live in California. *hugs* Faeriejewl *the angel faerie* ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Nov 1997 16:52:27 -0800 From: "Brandon C. A couple of days ago, someone posted about a magazine with a pullout poster of Jewel in it. I deleted the post, and all I remember was something about Hanson on the cover. Well, it just so happens that every teeny bopper magazine at Barnes and Noble has Hanson on the front, so I had to search through about 7. I got this magazine, it's called Faces in Pop and the poster is pretty big. It was like $3, so go buy it! BUT WAIT! Backstreet Boys is on the other side, I know it's oh so had to choose between the two, sure was for me (tehehehe). Anyways, just thought I would elaborate for everyone! - -Samantha 0:) Sparkles on irc ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 Nov 1997 21:30:41 -0500 From: sammy3@ix.netcom.com Subject: Harborlights Tape? Apparently, many of you are unfamiliar with how the Hard Rock likes to work things... They LOVE to charge ridiculous amounts of money for their New Years shows... Example, when Hootie & The Blowfish played the tickets were 200 bucks for the front rows. So, I'm betting not even all of the ticket price is going to Jewel herself, it's mostly going to go to the Hard Rock... yech. It's funny though, normal concerts the rest of the year are regularly priced there...
