October 23, 1997,
            On MTV's Probe, a segment where ordinary folks are shown
giving their input on certain videos, Jewel's FG Video was mentioned
when two girls where talking (or rather bashing) Mariah Carey's video
for "Butterfly" (I think that's the name of it).  Here's how the
dialogue basically went.

Girl #1: "I really don't like Mariah Carey.  I don't know of anyone who
really does."
Girl #2: "The scenes from her new video with the whole barnyard animal
thing really                        freaked me out."
Girl #1:  "The part where she's stroking the horse is pretty ronchi
(sp)."
Girl #2:  "Yeah.  Jewel did a very class version of that in her video."
Girl #1:  "Exactly.  It's been done already."
Girl #2:  "Jewel had already done it so I don't understand why..."
Girl #1:  "I know.  It's like 'Why would I want to see something that
was done already?'"

            Even though I put quotation marks in the dialogue, that
isn't exactly what was said.  Thanks for taking time to read this very
small Jewel containing post.

Subject: MrBB- Tour Recap/Updates/general stuff

Hi all,
    A few have requested a recap on upcoming things of
interest to Jewel fans. Below is an updated schedule of 
everything I know presently. It includes a bit of new info & 
tentative New Years Eve plans for Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel.
   As Mike mentioned last night, merchandise galore will
be available soon, hopefully in time for the holidays. 
As well as being available in some stores, all of it will
likely be made available directly through official mail order.
So worry not, if you're cut off from access to a local store
carrying those posters, calendars, etc.  Details on all of
this authorized merchandise & more will be posted fairly soon. 
Please wait for that post before asking questions.
    Some possible projects are currently formulating that
many of you will be interested in.  Atz (Jewel's dad) plans on
taking some time off from teaching and begin concentrating
on writing a book about The Kilcher family. This book will not
focus on Jewel, but rather on family history, the homesteading 
life and Ruth & Yule Kilcher(Jewel's grandparents) primarily.
It's a fascinating family & this should be an extremely interesting
read.
    I'm also in the very beginning stages of discussing the remastering
& possible re-release of other Kilcher Family recordings. If this
happens, CDs may be made available through mail order, as well.
The first project will possibly be (Jewel's Aunt/Atz's sister) Mossie
Davidson's double album release from the early 70's. This album
was a primary influence on Jewel. I'll keep you informed on any
progress.     
    Finally, AmyJo & I are really lookin forward to invading San Diego
over Thanksgiving weekend. I'm told quite a few East Coast EDAs will
also be joining in the festivities. Among others, I've heard confirmations
from Dennis Harris, Amy (W1ggy2) Neufeld, Liz Clark, Duff, Ted Berberian & Chris
Moynihan. Others are possible. Java Joe's should be rockin all weekend!
     For us, it was our turn to do Thanksgiving Dinner for both our
families...

I *hope* this gets put through, as I know this list is on full moderation,
but I figured it was worth a shot, since it regards an EDA get together.

On November 7, a Friday night, Tara MacLean is going to be performing at
the Somerville Theatre, here in good old Boston (and only like 3 miles
from my house). She is opening for Dee Carstensen (I have never heard of
Dee before, anyone know if she is good?), and I am especially excited for
this concert for a couple reasons: it is my "introduction" to Tara's
performances, and it is a weekend in which EDAs will be congregating from
near and far in Boston for the show.

I am really excited to see my friends...the people who I love so much.
But I want to see even more of you so I can just give you all such huge
hugs!!!!!!!  I also know very well (heh thanks, in part, from the playful
nagging of Albert...I LOVE YOU ALBERT!!!) that I am due for a housewarming
party.

When I began to think that I do need a housewarming party (need, yes, for
it will give me an opportunity to see all of you, and we all need the
times when we are surrounded by nothing more than complete love), I got a
perfect idea.

OK, here is the game plan...

November 7-8-9, housewarming party at my house.  I have already told my
houesmates that I will be having EDAs over (they know all about you and
seem really excited in getting to know you all), so how about people come
on over to my place, we grab som dinner (Chinese take out or something of
that sort works for me), we head on over to the Tara show (I think I Have
even convinced my houesmates to check this sow out, I know it is going to
be incredible!), we come back, party some, sleep a bit (if Dennis Harris,
that bastard, comes, will we even sleep at all?  ;), then when Saturday
rolls around, we do something fun...such as go to the Aquarium downtown or
head on out to Walden Pond for the day...Saturday night rolls around, we
party some more, and then Sunday we somehow wind ourselves down from all
this excitement so we can deal with the need to get back to the other
reality called the daily lives in which we live (yes, I think that the
time we spend together is the best reality of all, because it is the only
reality which I know that is spent in complete love).

Anyone interested in coming?  There is room for people to sleep in my
house, and there is a nice sized yard, so any of you wacky EDAs who have
those sub-zero tents and want to make a sort of Kerouacian experience and
rough a night out here in a tent, well, feel free to do that, too!!!!!  

And you people who are new to the list, what a better way to experience
the true "x factor" of the EDAs that everyone talks about than to actually
come to a get together!  I remember my first get together...Great
EDAdventure...I fell so deeply in love with each and every single EDA that
I don't think I can ever possibly stand up!

If anyone decides to come from some far off lands and needs to use the
airport, I can make runs to the airport (via the wonderful public
transportation system) to get you.  I have already arranged to take the
whole weekend, including Nov. 7, off from work.

PLEASE PLEASE come!!!!!!!!!!!!!

little children (ahem...ahem...Rob and Tammy...ahem...ahem...) are more
than welcome, as are guitars, singing voices, poetry, pretty flowered
plants I can put in my room, anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Just come!!!!!!!!

Also, since I know that I have little money, I am just going to ask that
people who do come try to bring some little snacks along...you know, sort
of "pot luck" style, as Tammy and Rob's pre-Jewel show BBQ was.

...and remember there can never be too much brie...      ;)
