(The magazine has an illustration of Garth Brooks on the cover) The page 14 article, entitled "Everybody Cut Footloose - A lot of the toes-a-tappin' on stage today are bare" starts: "When she went on stage at last spring's American Country Music Awards, Deana Carter was all gussied up. But beneath her couture gown her little piggies were bare. Carter, who also performed barefoot for three million viewers on PBS' July 4th special on the Mall in Washington DC, is leading a wave of barefoot singers that includes Toni Braxton, Amy Grant and Jewel, who covered Patti Smith's "Dancing Barefoot" in her Lilith sets last summer." "Of course, less footwear means more work for the concert crew. A techie for Jewel confirms that the path from backstage to the mike is carefully swept before the folk-pop pixie goes on." There's also a small color head-shot picture of Jewel on the page. Spivy ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Oct 1997 20:30:21 -0400 (EDT) From: Princess Subject: Muzak Hello angels! Picking my best friend up from the airport recently, I detected a vaguely familiar melody in the air. I stopped in the middle of the hallway, concentrating on the sound....only to detect a Muzak version of YWMFM. It was all cheesy and terribly schmaltzy as Muzak always is....but it was still Our Angel. Perhaps being turned into Muzak is the true measure of stardom. Then again...perhaps not. ;) Take care all! It all should be out soon, hopefully in time for Christmas! :) As far as what *type* of stores the stuff should be available in, she said certainly the record stores, but she wants to avoid the major retail stores like JC Penny, Walmart, mega-stores etc. I took it, by the way she phrased it, that she (Bibi) wants to avoid any "exclusive" deals with any major retailers. I forgot to ask her about any of it being available in stores overseas. I'll ask her next time we talk. Oh yeah, the stuff that is coming: Three different posters One 1998 calender :) A pack (set) of five 9"x7" pictures An unspecified number of T-shirts and the long awaited Jewel LYRIC BOOK!!! :) She did not mention any prospective shipping dates, just the fact that it was delivered to the printers today. This is ALL any of us know at the moment, as soon as I/we know anything, we'll post it. (i.e. no one on the list has any idea what the t-shirts or posters look like, what the calender is like, what songs are in the lyric book etc ) Mike :) * The Jewel Mailing List Netiquette & New Member Guide is at: * http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup * * If you are new to the list and need someone to guide you * please check out the "Adopt A Newbie" page at: * http://www.geocities.com/wellesley/3079/newbies.html * * If you have list related questions, feel free to email me * at Ducksoup@spectra.net * * DuckofPrey@aol.com WhyADuck55 on AOL Instant Messenger ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V2 #841 ***************************
