If ya know how to become an "official" EDA please email me, thanks!!! ~A Devoted Jewel Fan Forever~ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Sep 1997 14:47:46 -0400 (EDT) From: GroovyLime@aol.com Subject: =A4JC=A4 Siena College 9/13/97 =97NJC=97 (Part 2) - --continued-- so, we get there, and shes waiting for us, hanging with Dave, so i introed Linda and Andrea to Jewel:) they both were freaking out:) and Jewl and Jared shared their 'wierd' hello:) and we started to converse about life, and what keeps us going:) is was pretty funny, Linda was blushing so bad, and jared was so happy to= see his friend again:) great thoughts were goin throught my head, so i just gave Linda a hug right there, so jewel notices our hug, and says "its so great that you guys are there for each other" and she smiled:) Linda proceeds to give jewel a gift, it was a macaroni and cheese colored crayola crayon, jewl got a kick out of it and asks us "what kind of macaroni and cheese do you guys like?"(while colorring with the crayon and begining= to scratch the paper off:) that gave me flashbacks of when i was a kid) so i said "oh the old kind, the powder" she said YEAH isnt it the best? nothin beats the powdered kind" And a few other comments on that..so we take some pictures of jewel, jewel and dave cuddling, linda and jewel etc.. :) then she asks "so what keeps you guys going?"=20 Andrea: .....ummm, life(she was totally flustered...more than any of us, she sounded so drunk whatever she asked jewel, it was funny:)) Jared: "each other" Linda: "poetry and happyness" Me: "Hugs" Then i handed her my purple sharpie, and asked her to sign my EDA shirt... she asked where i would like it, and i said, oh you pick, she said ok, ill write on my forehead, and she commented on how old the picture was of her on teh shirt....so she changed her mind at the last second to under the chin, and wrote :: "Steve, You Angel You! Jewel '97'" "oh my god its Jewel...oh my god shes standing like threeeee innnches from meeee, i can smell she ate gar.....heehee:) her hair smelled great, but familiar, let me tell all you obsessive people that Jewel uses Suave, so nex time you gotta pick a shampoo out, keep that= in mind;) Dave walks away, and sits a few yards away for a smoke...Then i brought up a few questions about songs, and told Jewl that mah favorite song of hers was Painters, and that ive never seen her play it in the 6 times that ive seen her....i also rarely see it on setlists....and that it was one of my dreams to maybe one day, see her perform it....so she says "well, maybe ill play it tonight" so i said, well, ok, thanx for considering it love :) and she giggled:)=20 Then Jared was asking about Steve Poltz and Jewel, and the situation between them...Jewel said that Steve was still drinking, and that causes a conflict between them..Jared also asked if theyd ever be back together, and she didnt know... so, i walk about 15 feet to where Dave was sitting down, and thanked him, he said "for what?"and pointed to Jared , Linda and Andrea and Jewel, and all their smiles, and said "for that", so he said, no problem, it makes me feel good to help out some good people, so, we shared a good hug:) so, after all this time of talking to her, we grew so comfortable with her, she was so= soft spoken, and her voice soothed me(us), she treated us like friends, and not like fans.....i liked that..then i told her ""you and i are so alike!" she responded "i think we all are" ....we pretty much talked to her for about 45 minutes before the show, untiil she said she hadda start getting ready for showtime while still tearing at the crayon paper :) so, Linda asks "can i have a hug?" so jewel happily said sure!:) so, i was right next to linda, after they hugged and looked at Jewel, and she looked= at me, and i said: "Well, im not gonna ask, but......" and she gives me this huuuuuge hug! oh shes the best hugger! she really sqweezed her soul into me so tight! i was like wow, now *THAT* was a hug:) you all should take hugging lesson from JK, she really is great at it:) and i said "have fun tonite" and she said "aww thanx:)" so she left through the door to the stage, and were walkin around all= googley eyed and in awe, and still couldnt believe that that just happened, about 10 minutes later , there were these frat boys that saw jewel and were chanting her name and making fools of them selves....she was about 50 yards away, and turns around, and walks by us against the barricade, leans over it, looks at them and everyone says "she gonna say something!" everyone was silent, and Jewel says to them: "why do you guys act so stupid?" and they were just dumbfounded...heehee it was pretty hilarious =3D) so Andrea left us for her friends, and we just hung backstage, ate some= grub, and chilled with dave and some girl that was on the staff, linda went inside to find a seat, and Jared and i were alone in the backstage room, so i gave jared a big hug:) and he said "i PROMISED you that u would meet her didnt= i?" well, he DID like a week before....freaky... so we go inside the show, to find our front row right side seats, and meet some good people, and i get DENYED A HUG from andrea.....but i wont go into that, i was soooo hurt!=20 anyway, i realize that those frat boys that JK told off were right behind us....they were screaming "its the papparazzi!!" at the photographer like 15 times...it was funny the first time, fratguys........so, the lights dim, and Dave Baerwald goes on, i didnt get a great effect by him the first time at PNC because i was so far from him and everyone was booing him, but now that= i had front row, all those people were behind me, so, i heard him well, and i must say he aint that bad, hes very energetic, and can pick a mean geetar!= he does lack SOME originality....but he still is a good performer as well as a genuine angel ! He does like a 30 minute set, (?) and sings "Smart in a stupid way" with JK and the first thing that came to my mind was "those are my friends on stage" it really made me smile:) ~Jewels set~ '' * ''=3Dwith the band....... note Painters was stuck in the middle:) Don't Little Sister POY-(ok, in the middle of this song, i pulled a slick manuver, the security were standing against the barricade,watching the show blocking everyone view and i got up quick, and stood next to the photographer like i was his assistant:) and security fell for it! so, the photographer went behind the barricade, so i followed him lookin busy (wow im slick) Everything Breaks Sometimes (Best ive ever heard! different) Fragile Flame (AMAZING) Daddy (Cosby show verse included) Near You Always--(ok, during this song, i was really in there, behind the barricade, next to the photoman, but i was also taking pictures with my camera, i was the closest person to her in the damn place! but i was going way to far and i was cheating way too much, so the security pulled me out, and took my film out!, oh well something bad HAD to happen, all this was too good to be true! at first i thought, DAMN! I HAD SUCH GREAT PICTURES! THIS SUX, but i didnt let it ruin my show! who needs pictures anyway?:) i got mah pictures right here:) I'm Sensitive=20 Deep Water=20 *Sattelite(excellent!) *Been Down So Long *WWSYS (rushed) Painters (awwwww...for me?? She has a very nice voice and a tight combo behind her. Marlee plays electric and acoutic guitars, and she goes solo, with a small band or really rocked out depending on the venue. Her sound is a little like Juliana Hatfield and the songs are pretty much upbeat. Their label is TRG records and they come from Minneapolis. Marlee and the band are touring now and I though I'd give you her itenerary in case you are near and would like to give them a try. I really recommend this group. If you go, mention that you heard about it from me on the Jewel list. ".......Llama Taboot Taboot" all excited and stuff, i was screaming the lyrics to Painters in the shower. Then made Linda's wake= up call.....Packed my goods...EDA shirt, footbag....everything but a= frisbee::.. Hour and a half later, Jareds here! Woohoo!! We went online to find a map to discover that Siena College's web page as a link to JewelStock! "How did they know about it, and why is it on their page" wondered Jared.... so,we're on our way to pick up our other cohort, Linda the lovable angel:) we get there, chill for a bit, met her freaky brothers, and we're on our way at about 11:30.....as you can see, we made good time:) Deep Thoughts by the groovyLime=3D-- "If you are going 90mph on a freeway, 75 seems pretty darn slow"" so we got there quicker than expected! (2:00) got on the line of about.....errr, 10 people:) so, linda and i began our ticket search....went= a walkin, and saw where the police lines were set up....sooooo, we went around the otherway....alll the way around, we got to the back stage door.....and just went inside for a bit:) untill they kicked us out:) so, time went by waiting on the line untill linda and jared saw a guy (Rob) selling one ticket for 20! So, linda took on his little offer:) and we had one more ticket to search for!(mine) so, just about that time, a familiar face come out of the front for a smoke i guess....and linda says..."hey= thats Dave Baerwald!", so they go over and talk to him, i didnt go with them, at first but showed up there alone while they were chatting, a minute or 2 later.....let me tell you guys, DONT BASH DAVE BAERWALD, he has a wonderful soul, and is a great guy... just as much of an angel as anyone of us! And= his tunes aint too bad either! but ill get to that later on...... so were= talkin, and the topic of EDAs came up, he really digged the EDA shirt i sported,= then the topic of tickets came up, and we told him that i was ticketless....... so, he asked if i was alone in needing one, and i said yeah....so, he said he'd BRB.....he went inside and came out with my FREE ticket and a backstage pass! my heart was jumping fast, i gave him a hug! heehee:) also, jared had written a letter to jewel about stephs situation right now, and wanted to= get it to her..so he just asked Dave to get it to her, and dave said sure! so dave put the letter in the inside pocket of his sporty vintage macys suit jacket..and was on his way i thought......im so nervous.....so i began to feel sick.....everything was going wonderful! and the show wasnt even starting for another few hours! walking back to the line when Dave went back in, Linda was BEGGING me to let her borrow the pass and to get her to meet jewel.....she was getting so restless, that wasnt too fun added to my stomachache....she got on my nerrrves..so i promised her that she would meet JK.. i sat down for a while, felt a lil better......and looked to the right to notice our own EDA, Dave(forgot his last name)!!!! Tall Chinese Dave with glasses...HEY DAVE!!!! then, i just decided to take a stroll to that police line alone, realizing that i could get back there....so i walked over to see Dave Baerwald hanging out inside.....so, he came out to chat with me, we talked about guitars,(hes been collecting for nearly 20 years!) shared opinions...this guy rocks.....so, he offered for me something to eat inside (where all the important people were), so ofcourse i said "sure, i could have a cookie or somethin" So, i went inside, and he introed me to the staff, and Jewels band, they= were pretty cool, especially the cellist....he was a goof:) Then who came out but OUR OWN ANGEL Jewel.....so i just waited........ so i said with a sqweeky voice "hhHi Jewel" and she comes over and said hey:) The first thing i noticed was that i could see right into her soul....her eyes were so transparent, it was such an amazing feelin that= went through me....i just felt her aura.....(i could hardly keep my grip on the plate i was holding with the veggie burito on it) then right after that, i said "im an EDA" to her... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This made me think (later on) that i have pride in our family,it was the first thing that i said to her, (well, not literrally, but the first meaningful thing) and that its so great that we stick together, and help= each other out.....all we have is each other, we should lend a helping hand everychance we get to make things better(just hang out with Jared or Crunch or Tom or Jen(bug) or Farr or I or anyother or everyother angel often, and youll see what i mean) :) so, i just want to im happy to be part of you= all:) i wish that i could be there for each and every one of you guys right now, and give you all one of my full body hugs:)(sounds cheezy i know, but its= the best way that i could describe them) its an experience let me tell you:) especially for me..... to hug someone that was awesome enough to join this clique of angels, that means so much to me:) I LOVE YOU GUYS!! {({({(({({({(({({({(({({(({({({YouAngelsyou!!)})})})}))})})})})})})})})})})}= ) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ::sigh:: ok, back to my lil experience...so i told 'er that i was an EDA,= and her face gleemed right away and said "oh you guys are so great!":) then i noticed jareds letter in her hand(about steph) and she asked if i wrote it, i said noooo, that jared did, so she said "Jareds here? go get him!!" so of course i ran back to the line (sprinted) and tapped on linda and= jareds shoulder, and said "u have to see this!", andrea also followed (shes my friend that lives near me, not an eda, she was there when dvae gave me the pass) with my mouth full of veggie burito from backstage... :) stay tuned for part 2! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 17 Sep 1997 09:43:39 -0600 (MDT) From: J Oveson Subject: Contest Clue #2 The first letter of the first word is in the last 1/4 of the alphabet. so anywhere between S and Z.
