I warm up the computer and click on 'Check Mail'. What? 186 posts?! Ee-gad! I want to take this moment to remind everyone that we need to limit the amount of posts submitted to the list. Yes, this is an email list. Yes, we should foster discussion. How much fun would it be to be subscribed and have no posts to read? Very little. BUT, the list shouldn't consist of posts saying: 'Thanks Bob for the EDA Beanie you sent me.' (This should be a private email. Although I am very happy that Bob sent you a beanie and very happy that you are gracious enough to thank him, I really don't need to read an email on it) 'The Spice Girls SUCK.' 'The Spice Girls RULE.' (One aspect of being human is having opinions. Never will you see one-hundred-percent agreement on any topic, so it should not be attempted, forced, etc. Although I support a healthy, intelligent debate, a war of 'uh-huh' and 'nu-uh's has no place on this list. It serves no purpose and is just plain childish.) 'Regarding your post: I totally agree. Right on.' (This is another type of post that should be private UNLESS you also include an addition to the debate/discussion. Example: "Regarding your post: I totally agree. Right on. And I think, in addition to Miss Kilcher injecting a bit of sincere talent and originality into the music world, that she supplies a breath of innocence and hope to a generation that seems lost and sentenced to apathy." See? That sort of a post would open discussion, further the thread. But to simply post a one-lined agreement with something already stated...well, that just clutters the list.) So, class, what have you learned today? Try to put a little forethought into your posts. Ask yourself if 1300+ people will really be enriched by your words before you press 'send'. Thanks guys.... Go Cloud-Watching or Star-Gazing. It's groovy. I'm not saying that we shouldn't mention any singers besides Jewel, but I do hope we can keep the discussion focus mainly on Jewel and not on artists like Madonna, Fiona Apple, etc. This is a mailing list for Jewel, after all, and I believe we should treat it as such. Any non-Jewel post should include 'NJC' in their subject heading, so fellow EDAs can choose to ignore it beforehead. This weekend is an "All EDA all the time" opportunity! It Starts at Java Joe's in Ocean Beach on Friday, where Joe is having one of his legendary "all star" nights. EDAs will be crawling all over the place. Saturday, before the *concert*, ther's an EDA get-together at Java Joe's at 4 p.m. Of course, the *concert* itself will be a huge EDA event. And, to top it all off, on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the home of Tom & Nancy Morales, there is Livingroom Tour show!!! Live performances by Elizabeth Hummel, Cindy Lee Berryhill, and other special guests!! Do NOT miss this show! We have EDAs coming in from all over the country for this! And I'm not even counting New Jersey!!! This will be the place to be. Don't let yourself be left out.
