I was wondering how many -in average- people attend jewel concerts in the USA, because in Paris, France, we were just about 100 people there, which made it very intimate! There were VERY FEW French people but it was nice! Jewel was charmingly shy and REALLY DID NOT ACT LIKE A MULTIPLATINUM Record seller! All there was was: (1) 3 candles on the floor (2) Jewel (3) Her guitar No band, no electric guitar/bass/keyboard (4) Jewel's feet hitting the wooden floor when she needed "drums" and.. it was probably the simplest concert i have been to, yet THE BEST One! With really a great talented artist with great music and great presence on stage, People were quiet like i had never seen before! I am seeing her again in Paris, in October 20th and will try to record the show: it may be 100% acoustic again, and it seems to me she has a band with her when she tours in the USA. Take care! Do you have to put it on special order, or something like that? No offense to Jewel, but this is 1997, not 1987. Records are yesterday's technology, and VERY scarce. I know that it was probably supposed to be something like "Oh, wow! Jewel's music is on vinyl, now," but what am I supposed to do with a record? I don't even own a player. I'd have to use my parents'. I grimace at cassettes for gods' sake. I didn't even know they still made new records, until one day in Tower Records I passed by the "C" section, and saw Recovering the Satellites on vinyl. If I do buy the record, it'll go straight into my Jewel collection, but won't even be played once. More of a sentimental thing. It'll probably be a collector's item, someday. Anyway, I would appreciate any advice anyone could give me in finding this record. Thanks. Right before playing this song at the Fingerlakes show, JEWEL said, "We haven't played this song out yet. It's brand new. Hot off the presses." She did play it back on the 4th or 5th of May at the Wiltern Theatre in LA. Why did she say it was never played before? I do not know. I do know that she has been touring A LOT, and it isn't over until the end of the year! After playing so many shows, and having so many rehearsals, etc., it is probably hard to remember which (rare) songs have been played live and which were only played in rehearsals. I am sure that JEWEL is looking forward to her much deserved rest from touring after the Europe shows. Hi all, I just got back from Billboard's site where POY has risen from #8 on the charts to #5, with 92,000 more happy customers picking up the album last week. Ironically, the jump in sales is attributed to Jewel's triumphant performance of Angel Standing By on the MTV awards. I guess defying your record company does pay off. :) In other news, the Your Were Meant For Me/Foolish Games single is now listed as Foolish Games/You Were Meant For Me and is #10, rising from #12 last week. That's right, Foolish Games is a top ten single! Finally, POY is the best selling album in Toronto area HMV's.
