After the video was finished I'm glad that Jewel decided to hire Carroll to direct a second video for her song (due to her fallout with Sean Penn?). The Penn-directed YWMFM just seems to have too many underlined messages & symbolisms that I just don't get. For example, in the video Jewel was seen inside a theatre (you can only make out her features partially due to the darken environment) with other people, watching the screen which displays many unexplained scenes that include a love triangle, a couple by the poolside, etc. Jewel was also seen inside a room, cutting out pictures from magazines and glue them on the wall. Jewel sang the song from time to time, but overall the video strikes me as a film that was made a long time ago (the quality of the video seems quite poor). In my opinion, it just wasn't a well-made video at all. Have anyone else saw the video? How about your opinion on it? Didn't hang out with Jewel but we kept passing each other in the hallway before the show. We did have the pleasure to meet Mellissa (nice to meet ya!) & friend & hang out with Erica (the Great Puddini). She kept AmyJo company during the show. Didn't see any other EDAs around. It was a very interesting day, too! Some local Hartford radio station had a contest & 25 winners were invited to a private show prior to the real show. It took the place of the soundcheck & was REALLY UNUSUAL & featured some new material thats never been performed before as far as I know. Most of this private show was with full band. Here's the amazing setlist to that first: Band Jam warmup Under The Water Stay (this kicks ass but isn't quite finished yet. Just as rockin as "Down"!) Everything Breaks (teaching the band this. WONDERFUL!!) Youre In Cleveland Today Carnivore Well that was the incredible "pre-show". The "real" show wasn't too shabby either. The crowd was very respectful during Jewel's set but were quite rude during David Baerwald's set prompting Jewel to come out & let the audience have a piece of her mind. She joined him on his last song as well-"Smart In A Stupid Way" After a 10 minute intermission Jewel began her set.
