Hey Angels, I don't know if this poster has been mentioned before, but I'll go ahead and say it 'cause I'm really excited!! Well, about a week ago my friend told me to go to Blockbuster Music because they had a blown up poster of Jewel on the cover of Rolling Stone!! I haven't been able to go until today and I've been really worried if someone else would ask for it before I could, but anyway... So I walked in, spotted it, and ran to it and asked the guy if I could have it when they were finished. He said he thought that one was reserved already, but he had an extra one in his car. So he went to his car and got it for me!! Right there, no waiting or anything!!! It's really great!! It's the exact cover of Rolling Stone, with the words and all, and below it is gold and it says "Jewel Pieces of You 4 Million Albums Sold" It's pretty big too. Woohoo!!! My second poster from a music store, I'm excited!! But I don't have room on my walls, oh well, I'll find some. So go check your local Blockbusters!!!!!!!!! Thanks for listening!!! Bye!! I was listening to some old concerts she did and she was so much more nicer. Saying, "Thank you all for coming" and being really nice. Now, she's telling everyone to shut up left and right. I've also talked to other people who agree with me, some of them aren't Everyday Angels and don't get the positive Jewel influence we all get here about her. I listen to them because some might be more open minded about Jewel and aren't so "pro-Jewel" like most of us here are. Don't get me wrong, I still love Jewel. It's just that I'm worried that she's turning herself into this "out-of-reach-icon" which she always talks about being afraid of becoming. __________________________________________________________________ (` + + | _ +| Inside my heart there's an empty room. _)|)(||`|<_\ +| It's waiting for lightning; it's waiting for you. + | mark + + | -=Jewel "Absence of Fear"=- __________________________________________________________________ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 08 Sep 97 14:46:24 GMT From: st_kuo@ix.netcom.com Subject: Re: Fake Beauty At the VMA Am I the only one who doesn't think Jewel had too much make-up on during VMA? I admit that Jewel looks fabulous without any make-up on (like her Carroll-directed YWMFM video) but her look is enhanced with some lipstick and eye-liner on. Some celebrities like Pamela Anderson (urgh!) doesn't know when to stop putting layers upon layers of cosmetics to cover up their facial features from the public eyes. Jewel isn't like those people. I don't think Jewel is a sell-out either. If she were a sell out, she would have sung the song they wanted her to at the VMA. My favorite moment of her concert was when she started Foolish games and said that she just didn't want to sing that song right then. I think that's cool. She sings what's in her heart. That's real cool. Maybe she had a little bit of stress from the company for the video. Hey, I heard a rumor that her new album is going to be more pop oriented. Is this true? I really like her more simple music. Is this going to change? Just wondering. Well, now I don't have to go into very much detail...but I had been thinking the same thing all day every time I read a post COMPLAINING that Jewel didn't THANK us. Well...did anybody else THANK their fans? NOOOOO...not a single one that I remember. So why does this person think Jewel is stuck up? Personally, I haven't ever seen her do, say, or act stuck up in any way. And since when has Jewel been over commercialized? She doesn't have posters that we can get very easily, I haven't seen Jewel bumper stickers, I don't know of anyone who has bought a Jewel shirt at a local K-Mart or Wal-Mart or something. And dare I say...I don't believe Miss Kilcher is coming out with Jewel: The Fragrance. Not that I have anything against the Spice Girls, because I listen to their music...but when people say Jewel is over commercialized...come on! I've seen the list making most of their own Jewel collectibles...as in EDA picks and most recently the bracelet idea. Just because Jewel has been in many magazines doesn't mean she is selling out or becoming stuck up or any of that. Many of the magazines she's in she probably doesn't even know it. And she sure can't know about all the articles she's in in local newpapers and stuff. So, please get a grip on your image of Jewel...it should be the same as when you first found out about her or met her or whatever. Plus, I know many people think MTV is full of what Fiona Apple said...BS. So what does it matter that Jewel won a piddly award for MTV...obviously it shouldn't mean that much...I mean...what would you rather win...an MTV Award for a Video or a Grammy. I'm thinking most of you would rather win a Grammy if you ever had the chance. Oh, well...I've talked too much...more than what I thought I would....I just want to congratulate Jeff for what he said because it's the TRUTH!!! Before you think Jewel is letting this stuff get to her...remember all that she has done for YOU...although she may have never met you, I'm sure she's affected your life somehow or you wouldn't be on this list.
