After hearing about MTV playing Sean Penn-directed YWMFM video in "And the Nominees are..." in some parts of the country, I decided to stay up until 1 a.m. last nite to catch the show for the second time (it was a different video when I first checked the show out). It was basically just a rerun...no new materials that I didn't see from the first time. When they (the Hanson boys) finally introduced Jewel's video, I was ready with the VCR remote to record this elusive video, and the video for YWMFM that they finally shown was not directed by Sean Penn but Lawrence Carroll instead. So HI ALL!!! Anyways, I saw Jewel on Sunday at Jones Beach and I must say she was very good. I especially loved the way she sang Foolish Games, very emotional, very good. The only problem of the concert was that the crowd was getting a bit rowdy and wouldn't keep quiet. Jewel even said, "Would you guys shutup!!" But even after all the rudeness of the crowd, she stills finds it in her heart to grace with Chime Bells (her yodeling)! That's class!!! So, to Rolling Stone Magazine, Pbphhhh!!! (Dave sticks out his tongue and makes a weird sound which sounds like a fart and spits flies all over his computer screen - YUCK!) There was one thing I noticed though and I was wondering if anyone can confirm this for me. I thought I saw 5 yellow picks hanging from her mike stand. They looked like (I guess, because I don't have one) the EDA picks. If it is then it's pretty cool that she keeps them with her when she performs. Anyways, hello to Eric and Laura whom I bumped into at the concert who met my "girlfriend". Hee, hee. And to Larry "Graywolf". I heard you were at Jones Beach and I wanted to personally thank you for the JewelStock tapes, but I'm sorry I missed ya! So THANKS for the tapes. Question for EDAs... That's the Sean Pean-directed version of YWMFM. It was done back in 1995. Apparently, after the initial release of WWSYS, Atlantic records jumped right away in putting out a single for YWMFM even going as far as re-recording it to make it more rock friendly. However, the version tanked and was soon scrapped. The new version that is seen now was done when the Pieces of You made a big comeback and took off.
