Thank you to everybody that has been voting through the way I showed you. Today, I got an e-mail from someone saying that those votes may not have counted, since MTV can't track down the e-mail address it came from. I still am not sure if this is true or not, but I'm going to believe it's true for several reasons. One is that Jewel should have moved up past Prodigy already if this was working. I want to encourage EVERYONE to please vote for Jewel like you were a couple weeks ago. When everyone sent the standings for Jewel and saying "vote! She's only a percent ahead", Jewel was doing very well. Then, to conserve bandwidth and space on the list, those posts stopped and what happened? Jewel *almost* hit last place and has been straggling behined every since. I've talked to some Prodigy fans, and folks!! these guys' love for Prodigy has given Prodigy the commanding lead. I've talked to some people that have voted hundreds of times through MTV's website. But don't worry about that now EDAs, because I've taken care of that. Or most of that. Same goes for the Wallflowers and the Spice Girls. So now that their votes have been slowed down A LOT, this is our chance to strike and help Jewel win! SHE STILL HAS A CHANCE!! The reason why she hasn't moved at all is because I don't think those votes that people have sent in through the Getweb Servers are counting (as I mentioned above), and I'm really really sorry about that. For every percentage that Jewel gains, someone has to lose 1, and that will most likely be 1st place Prodigy. So this is how it is right now: Jewel 21% Prodigy 28% That 7% disadvantage isn't as much as you think it is, so don't let that discourage you to not vote. Why am I putting so much effort in this? Well it's because I love Jewel! She has done so much for me, and has given me the inspiration to do so many things in my life. I've become a better person because of her, her music, and her view of life. I just want to give back to her by helping her win this award. Because WE, as her loyal Everyday Angels, are the only ones that can. This is still possible, so hit the MTV websites and vote. 3 more days!! We've come too far to quit now. Mark - --- Inside my heart there's an empty room. It's waiting for lightning; it's waiting for you. - --Jewel "Absence of Fear" ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Sep 1997 07:21:05 -0400 From: Allan Subject: Lilith Live Album!!!! http://www.canoe.ca/JamMusic/sep02_lilithfair.html Tuesday, September 2, 1997 Lilith Fair live album due By KAREN BLISS Jam! I have some of them only because I have a friend that works for a radio station and he receives them as promotional record company items. I've actually seen some of the items in CD/Record retailers around California - especially, in Northern California. Use the Internet...there are literally thousands of places to go find this stuff...Try www.igg.com where you can find the Jewel Rolling Stone cover poster. If you're in dire need of these items, a good way - but not always productive way - is to call your local radio stations and asking for any promos that they're willing to part with. There are some stations that have huges stocks of items that they just give away, most of it going to retailers. Sometimes if you're persistent (though not too persistent) and subtle you'll get lucky and they'll give you some things. Also going to major retailers might work. I talked to a friend at Tower Records and she usually just throws away old wall art. I grabbed a 35X40 Sarah McLachlan "Surfacing" Promo that way...well, it wasn't old but she owed me. I have no place to put that thing now. Again, the posters are non-official label products. According to Mike's post of few days ago, Jewel's team hasn't put out any posters yet. The only posters you'll find are promos. Also, please don't complain to me (or Mike or MrBB - they have enough to deal with. Well, I shouldn't speak for them) if you can't find these items. If you want it bad enough, go get it. Anyway, good luck. Just writing to say that I loved the Jewel concert at the Jones Beach Ampitheatre on 8/31. I have to agree with the reviewers that it was a LITTLE weak, overall, but I loved when she sang "I'm Sensitive." I love that song. It was my first Jewel concert, though, so I was caught up in the fun of it all. I guess that's what got me to buy the $8 keyring and the $15 program. :-) LOL But it was fun. Oh, and does anyone remember what this tour is called? At the last minute I was going to buy a T-shirt with the name on it, but they ran out. I remember it started with a "P." It was "Pagillion," or something like that. I'd appreciate it if anyone remembers. Thanks. Bart Mendoza (of "Living Room Tour Bookings" fame) turned me on to a record company out of Tucson called Gouramie Records. Over the course of a few years they released 4 (difficult to find) compilations of San Diego music. The series was called "Staring At The Sun" Volumes 1-4. They contain a wide variety of music from that time period where Jewel was unsigned & playing San Diego area coffeehouses. Although she's not on them, they may still be of interest to those EDAs who seek a wider perspective on what was musically hapnin in San Diego at the time. Only Volumes 2 & 3 are still available & I'm told only a few dozen of those are left. Rugburns completists will want Volume 3 which features 20 tracks including an exclusive take of "I Love You" by The Rugburns. Greg Page also has "Last Train" included on this volume. This Volume also won "Best Compilation" at the San Diego Music Awards. Volume 2 also features a rare Gregory Page track of "Down The Moon" amongst its 19 tracks. Otherwise they include many bands & musicians I'm personally unfamiliar with, being I live in New England..... I ordered them out of simple curiosity about what else was going on in San Diego the past few years. I figure others might be curious as well. Here's the best part other than the music! Gouramie will make these last copies available to EDAs at $5 (yes only FIVE DOLLARS) per CD & that's INCLUDING SHIPPING! With a price like that, ya can't go too wrong! Mine took about 5 days to arrive so their service was excellent, too. If youre interested in these while they last, you can e-mail Gouramie Records at gourami@azstarnet.com Their adress is: PO Box 856 Tucson, AZ 85702-0856 You can also Fax them at 520-740-1765 I don't think they take credit card orders, but checks are OK. You may want to email them to confirm availability first. PLEASE do NOT respond to me. I'm simply passing on info I thought other EDAs might appreciate knowing. And if any San Diego area EDAs have Vol 1 & 4, I'd personally enjoy hearing them since they are not available & long out of print. All the best, MrBB ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V2 #685 ***************************
