Ok, here's the deal -- there are a number of EDA's (about 30+ so far) that will be attending the show, so of course we all have to get together!!!! Once again Tammy and I are inviting attending EDAs to our house for a pre-show BBQ. We live about 10 miles (20 minutes) from the venue, so it's a short drive. However, this gathering will not be of the magnitude that our past events have been, there are a few unusual rules -- (1) Please no "pre-cleared" non-EDA guests -- please (2) We are having a "potluck" BBQ -- which means you really should bring something. A&P is right down the corner if you just want to buy something. (3) This is not a normal gathering, so don't expect alot -- it is just a bunch of friends getting together before a show. Rough schedule of events: 2:00pm -- Gather at our house and fire up the BBQ 6:00pm -- Lawn seat people should make their way to the venue, I will probably follow shortly after 8:00pm -- show begins For those not planning to attend our BBQ, but do want to meet at the show we should probably set a meeting place at the venue. That will be decided later. What I need from you is a quick e-mail letting us know your plans (i.e., will you be at the BBQ or just show). Please e-mail myself at neoblcar@aol.com or Tammy at tlcathome@aol.com Can't wait to see ya there! -- Rob ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Aug 1997 10:18:14 -0400 From: katherine732@juno.com (katherine h) Subject: Re: "Sorry" Angels...actual quotes from the list On Sun, 24 Aug 1997 03:36:13 -0400 (EDT) GroovyLime@aol.com writes: >In a message dated 97-08-24 01:38:37 EDT, you write: > ><< Actual quotes from messages to the list: > > Sorry to clog up your mail boxes. > Sorry to waste all your time. > Thanks, and sorry for the long message. > Sorry if this has already been posted, but... > I'm sorry to take space, but... > Sorry for sending this to the list > Sorry to clog the list, but > > Notice a pattern here? > >right on!!!.. its pretty cool that youve brought this subject up >because >lately ive been thinkin about how incredibly pointless the phrase "im >sorry" >really is...in a way, it just seems like an excuse fer something of >human >habit...but still, we all say it sometime or another....... it in >itself is a >habit....... >beautiful post man! >groove on!!!!!!!!! >--~=steve > "And i'm sorry's such a stupid word, a stupid thing to say" - -Jewel ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Aug 1997 10:13:12 -0400 From: "Matt Adler" Subject: Re: Jewel Merchandise I have yet to see Jewel posters at any stores. - -----Original Message----- From: Paul Pin To: jewel@smoe.org Date: Sunday, August 24, 1997 1:15 AM Subject: Jewel Merchandise > > >Why don't companies start making Jewel stuff?? >I mean, it's not like her stuffs' not going to sell. > >paul > > ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 24 Aug 1997 11:15:09 -0400 From: "Rachel :D" Subject: NJC: SOLD OUT of EDA picks Yep, that's right... all sold out :). For example : the whole jewel brother thing , that's real part of her private life ,yet we have discussed it without any problem. Then somebody else asks about her love/sex live , and it's automatically discarded as "what a shallow stupid question , that's her private life". I think her family life is more of a private thing, yet we ask bout it without any reconsideration , but then somebody dare's to brighten up the limited topics of trends going on with a question that is a little off the wall , and people jump on him. When you are as famous as Jewel you gotta accept this questions and respect them cause I think this is the price you gotta pay for fame. PLEASE LOVE JEWEL , BUT REMEMBER SHE'S A HUMAN BEING , and in this list we seem to discuss a little more than just her music , so please be more tolerant and if something we should have said " I really don't know , no one has ever asked her that". until then your auto cheap archangel: Rafa - To hate is strictly human , specially when man sees hatred he cannot comprehend - A. Keep going down Old Country Rd until you see the Cemetery, which is pretty hard to miss cause it's pretty big. At the light after the cemetery, make a left on to Merrick Avenue. After a few lights, I'm not sure how many, you will see the huge entrance to Eisenhower Park. Go in here, and look for signs directing you to where we are. I will probably have my EDA poster near where we are, but anyhow, look for the signs that say "EDA's" or EVERYDAY ANGELS" So now youre there! See you all soon!!! I hope all of you are TOP! today. I had a few things that I thought I'd go ahead and put into one message. First some etiquette stuff: I think we should go easy on this guy who asked about Jewel's she bop habits. He was asking a question, not hurting any of us in any way. It may not be the most appropriate topic and may not be any of our business, but we don't need to rip him to shreds over it. I know from personal experience that it makes it so much worse to blow an innocent comment or question all out of proportion and you can really hurt other people's feelings that way. That's not what we're about. We're about sharing the Jewel experience. We don't need to all sit here and eat each other because of a question. We don't need to discriminate that veterans or newbies are the best. It doesn't matter who called who what. I declare this an EDA Amnesty Day. We may have to agree to disagree on occasion, but bickering like an old married couple is not why anybody is here, I can promise you that. Okay. Onto more Jewel content. I've translated Je t'aime back in to French for anybody who wants it. I put the pronunciation under it for those not phonetically inclined. She may have used different words in a couple spots, but this should be close. Je t'aime, je t'aime, je t'aime, mon ange Je t'aime, je t'aime, je t'aime, mon ange (zsuh tim, zsuh tim, zsuh tim, mawn ahnj) J'ai froid. Fermez la bouche. J'ai froid. Fermez la bouche. (jay fwa. fairmay la boosh. jay fwa. fairmay la boosh.) J'ai froid. Donnez moi ton monteau. (jay fwa. Done-ay mwah ton montoe.) J'ai froid. (jay fwa.) I'm also wondering if anybody gets *really* inspired when they hear "Last Dance Rodeo". I write pages whenever I do. Or if anybody else noticed that right after she played that on the I & I a girl they showed looked a lot like Amanda Marshall. Something else. Has anybody connected that the same character is in Satelittes and in a poem in the PoY sleeve? The woman w/ the teeth that look like shattered windows. And one more thing. I may have seen put off in the beginning there, but I do want to thank everybody for their hospitality. You all have been really nice to me and I do appreciate that. I just wanted us to all get along a little better.:-) But it makes me feel *so* good to know such nice people are out there. Sorry for the length of this thing! However, Jewel was not mentioned. Jewel is not one of the five bands that are gonna perform at the award show (Prodigy, Spice Girls, Wallflowers, Puff Daddy, and one other are scheduled to do so). However, another ad about the Video Award mentioned that Jewel will make an appearance on stage (maybe presenting an award?). The award shows are all hosted by their own guests at their own venues. So if Prodigy wins both awards, one of us is going to get a "Prodigy can't attend tonight..." (They'll probably attend the European show.) Is the only global awards show the World Music Awards in Monaco? Also, somebody mentioned that the new versions might be more acceptable to radio? I dunno if this is true, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I mean, what's the point of having the radio play your songs if they're not the way you want to play them? Then again, maybe she likes the new way more since she did in fact re-do them that way, and she doesn't exactly seem the type to put out a product she didn't like.........I think I'm speculating myself to death......argh........
