I think since this list IS a Jewel list, THE Jewel list, that would seem quite appropriate. What good are our EDA shirts if there is no list that the address on the shirts corresponds to? I'd like to hear what Jewel has to say about all this...especially since it seems recently she's spoken of us several times in various interviews. Especially the Web magazine...the main focus of that article was US! Her internet fans! I'm sure she would still be quite successful if it weren't for us, but I know the EDA's contributed ALOT to her success. She's even acknowledged that herself. Several times. I just think Jewel shoud know about the current situation of this list. Maybe she could give us some advice, and ideas. I am de-lurking for a moment to drop a few choice comments to you all. Yes, I know I'm usually fairly quiet, or at least have been for a while, but those of you who know me on the list/IRC still feel like family. If this list dies, it will be the fault of those of us who sit back and say, "Look at what's happened," and "The list is dying." I for one won't let that happen. Yes, Mr. BB's decision to go is disappointing, but every man has his own path to follow, and I can't blame him. That is no reason to throw up our hands and cry despair to the heavens. We are still a community, just a community saddened at the loss of one of it's own. The "Foolish Games" video was just on. Ironic. These "Foolish Games" are tearing this list apart, too. Don't let this kill your hope. That's all this list is going on right now. I for one will fight to keep this list going. My hope may or may not be enough, but it has to start somewhere. Greg, The most complete one I know of is at Adam's page: http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/xenomorph/jlyrics.htm Last updated on 4/29/97 I'm not sure though that Jewel has performed all of the 250+ songs she's written. I do recall how, well, careless she used to be with her songbooks (which I think still are the little school notebooks). I vaguely recall at the one Guelph show she did, lo those many years ago, that she mentioned losing one. I also do know that the EDA's "recovered" a number of songs from 'Angelfood' at one time.* So from that 250+ I'd say there were a good portion lost, which is sad really, considering the quality of her work. I forget, but at one point someone on the list (Mike?; Akira?) was keeping setlists... ..it might be possible to construct a more detailed song list from those. Bonne Chance! My lovely lil sis Liz has decided to leave me hanging so she can make the quest to Cape Cod for the LRT. So I need to sell them! Oh speaking of the LRT, remember that we are hosting one here in Toledo on August 7th at our house. Come on, not to mention that Cindy Lee and Elizabeth in all their awesomeness will be here, but you get to visit the historic site of Lizstock 97!!!!! And Marian an EDA from Germany will be here too!! We must keep up foreign relations ya know!! So please e-mail Liz or I privately and let us know about the Lillith tickets and/or the LRT. Oh, and I could write volumes about how wonderful this list is, and how great the EDA's are, but so many of you have done that already. "Be an Angel Everyday" like Crunch said, and things will work out. The number of life-long friends I have found on this list is incredible. And I know that if we are all kind to eachother and realize that we're all only human, this list will become a positive place once again! I love you all- Shelly - --Sorry I haven't posted in so long!! I still love you! Everytime I attempt to join something, it self-destructs soon afterwards. I've been an angel for a few months and this is happening right on schedule. Have you ever heard the story about three men playing cards? A man runs up and says 'Hey, the world's coming to an end.' The first man says, 'Well, I best get to a mission and pray.' The second man says, 'Well Hell, I'll get me a case of tequilla and six whores!' And the third man says, 'Well, I shall finish the game.' Hi, my name is Joe de Leon. I am a Jewel fan on the wrong side of the planet. I am from the Philippines. I would really like a Type II(Metal) Cassette copy of Jewel's live music. And I know that there are some everyday angels that are willing to tape the music for others. But is there an everyday angel in Asia who can help me out. I don't know how to work this out. If there are any other Jewel fans in the Philippines or Asia, let me know that I am not the only one. If there is anybody willing to tape the music for me, I would be incredibly grateful. If you don't mind mailing something to California or Pittsburgh, I might be able to make arrangements for that. (It's gonna be kind of complicated and pretty weird, but what else can I do?) My hard disk is starting to overload from all the songs I've downloaded from the Jewel Shrine and the Jewel "Audio Only" page. Thanks for your time and I am really praying for a minor miracle. Since I am rather new I can have a clearer perspective on the condition of the list. (a) I do believe that the loss of Mr BB is great, but if you have managed to stick together for two years, you guys can make it through this crisis. And there have to be enough people out there that can keep it alive, and I am one of them. Keep the faith. (b) I think it is true that the list is getting cluttered. There are too much mail being sent. I log on 4-8 times a day to check my mail, and I get 10-20 at a time. We should try to keep it down. I have not, however, ran into any non-Jewel posts yet. My suggestions: (a) Stick together, we can work things out. At the very least, our love for Jewel will keep us together. (b) Someone needs to monitor list. OR I don't know if there already is one, but I can register mIRC and set up a chat room to make things easier and cut down a little on the mail. So..... If you have any comments, e-mail me at seeker29@juno.com or seeker29@earthlink.net. Also, e-mail me if you live in Southern California. Now stick together guys, you hear me? I bet a lot of others did, too. The total, with shipping & handling ( from CDNow ) was a bit less than $15.00 . The front and back covers are the same, except the tracks are listed by # and side. Side D has the extra tracks - 1. Emily 3:15 2. Rocker Girl 1:44 3. Everything Breaks 3:21 4. Cold Song 1:03 5. Angel Needs A Ride 4:17 The inside of the record cover is the picture of Jewel standing next to a cut out circle, and it was Leaving Las Vegas, Criticism, Upon Moving Into My Van, and Las Vegas, as well as those untitled poems.. There is a suare, folded in half piece of paper inside the sleve with the first record. It's in black and white, with the words to everything but the 5 new tracks. All the pictures are the same, and there's a picture on each page... that's about it :) I haven't listened to it yet, 'cause our record player is buried... BUT I'll be bringing it to Tam & Robby's LRT to listen to and drool over... For those who haven't seen it, the cover looks just like the CD only bigger. Inside is the same, too, with an insert folded to 12X12 inches that is a reproduction of the folded insert in the CD. Everything is just bigger, so it is much easier to read the poems and lyrics. Gosh, I'm so happy to have this! Now I just gotta find someone with a decent turnable to play it on! :) Chopped Liver (Charlie) watkins@selway.umt.edu Share publicly, flame privately, " 'Cause anyone can start a conflict it's harder yet to disregard it ". ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 Jul 1997 14:45:32 PDT From: "Josh Christian" Subject: Disc Jockey All, I don't know what I can do, but I'm kinda (more or less) a disc jockey for a college radio station. I can try to get Jewel played, but she's not really the type of music that you hear on our station. However, I have noticed that some of the bigger stations of the area start playing stuff that we started playing, about a month or two after we started playing it. Maybe, I can do my part to influence the bigger radio stations that way. What do you all think? For those of you in my area (Seattle, WA-ish) tune in to 89.9 FM, and maybe you'll hear me, or possibly some Jewel. Perhaps we can hook you into listening to us exclusively. heh heh Sincerely, Josh Christian, the angel with the scabbed wings thejoshed@hotmail.com _________________________________________________________ And I beheld a pale horse; and he that sat on him was the Angel of Death, and Hell followed with him. -REV 6:8 ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 Jul 1997 14:34:04 PDT From: "Karen Boysen" Subject: questions for vets or anyone that knows Hi, I was just watching my Jewel video I put together and I was watching her on Jay Leno awhile ago and then her on the MTV Movie Awards and other recent material. Anyway I noticed that in her earlier shows her face was a lot fuller than it is now. I was wondering if she has lost weight or just grown up. And I also noticed that her eyebrows were a lot more fake looking than they are now. I think she looks beter now with less makeup. So if anyone can clear this up for me it would be appreciated. Sorry this is so long.
