Take it from me. A few years ago I was in New York City and me and my friends were at Planet Hollywood, and while we were waiting in line the Host guy kept telling us that Keanu Reeves was in there... Course, nobody actually believed him... But he told us that he was there for some special screening of Speed.... we still didn't believe him... Well, we got inside and was still waiting for our tables when my friend Megan asked if I wanted to go to the bathroom with her, so I did. well, just so happens that the bathrooms are downstairs right across from the banquet rooms so we got down there and all of a sudden we see about 5 guys, and Keanu Reeves coming out of the banquet room... Well, Megan just kind of grabs my arm and I snap a picture as fast as possible. Which of course makes him look over at us, he then says "Hey there... what are you two doing down here?" so being the smartass I am, I said "Going to the bathroom, what are YOU doing down here?" he just kind of laughed and smiled and said "Nothing much, just don't sell that picture to the Enquirer or anything."... so i nervously laugh and said "Oh ok, yeah, sure thanks... hehehee" ... i'm such a dork for not even being a huge Keanu Reeves fan... hahahah We finally did go to the bathroom where I discovered my wallet had been stolen ... To this day everyone jokes that Keanu stole my wallet and now has my driver's license framed on his bedside to remember me forever....l hahahah... it's just a joke... - --Lisa ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Feb 97 23:48:35 UT From: "Carl Chiaramonte" Subject: lilith fair in NY Is anyone going to the lilith fair at Jones Beach on Friday and if anyone wants to have a meeting somewhere. Music is a musicians art. A song is their canvas and the lyrics and melodies are the different color paints used in the overall piece. Who are we to flame anyone for their musical tastes. We are all here because we like music and like a particular artist who this list is named after. Does this mean every other artist outside of this list is shit? I don't think so. I personally listen to Jewel, Marilyn Manson, Garth Brooks, Wu-Tang Clan, as well as many others. We shouldn't paint ourselves into corners with music labels and by criticizing what people listen to. All artists have something to offer somewhere. A true music fan learns to appreciate what each artist does whether or not they like, they respect it for it's ncreativity. So once we start saying what music is good or isn't, we are no better than the people who said Elvis was sexual or Ozzy was satanic or the Beatles sucked. We get on the parkway, as we are driving, we see that there is a problem up ahead for some reason everyone is stopping in the middle lane and changiing lane. When we get up to where the problem we see what causing it. A mother duck had tried to lead her chicks acrossed the highway, a car had killed her but all of her chicks where running around trying to figure out what to do. Me and Kelly agreed that it was the saddest thing we had ever seen in our lives. It takes about 2 1/2 hours to get to steves. We pull up to the camp site and walk up. The first person I see is Eric, he ask me what my name is I say "John", he yells "john hickey". This was the first time I met Eric me and him hit off right away he's such a cool guy. Then Rob and Tammy come over they say there glad we finally made and asked what happend. Then Albert gave us all free Tara Maclean stuff. Then it was time for Harris baseball. The harris can not play baseball even though they cheated every chance they got, they still lost. Then we all gathered around for group pictures. It took like a halfhour to take the pictures we had like 20 cameras. Then we ate. Akira learned that you can't cook bacon on a grill over a camp fire. We ate and talked untill it got dark out. Then we all sat around the camp fire. We sang for a little bit. Then we did the tape bag. I got steves tape which had a note on it that he did'nt make a tape and he owed me one. Then it was the best part of the night Steph read her poetry. She is awesome she reads with so much emotion. I stayed up till 4:30 talking with people then crawed in my tent and tried to get some sleep, but Dennis was making so much noise I could'nt sleep. THIRD POSTING -- TIME'S RUNNING OUT! :-) That's right -- it's official! The Cindy Lee Berryhill / Elizabeth Hummel Living Room Tour stops right HERE next month! Tuesday, August 5, 1997 at our house in Greenfield, IN, the renowned duo from San Diego will perform a one-evening acoustic concert in our living room; attendance is open to all! After a successful couple of private appearances already in Toledo and Boston, you won't want to miss this one. I've already sent in my deposit, so all I have to do now is enlist 20 or more people to enjoy the concert. So far, I have about 6 confirmed attendees, and about 5-6 wafflers. :-) Folks, you'll kick yourself later if you don't make it to this once-in-a-lifetime show. Remember when Jewel was playing for a handful of people in tiny coffeehouses? Remember when Tori Amos drove herself to tour dates because Atlantic didn't spring for a van and a chauffeur? Locals -- remember when Carrie Newcomer loaded and unladed her own equipment and played in people's houses for spending money? That being said, I guarantee they won't lose money on the stop; but any profit will go to them, not to me. :-) So I'm asking a $10 donation from each attendee, and I would really really like to have everyone confirm in advance if at all possible, to avoid disappointment. We'll probably have space for 25 people in our living room, and I don't want a SRO crowd because I want everyone to enjoy the show instead of being crushed like a sardine. :-) I'd like everyone who seriously plans to attend, to let me know before July 29. If we're short, that will give me a chance to entice some more people to attend. :-) I want to emphasize that there is limited seating, so if you're really serious about attending, let me know ASAP. I won't insist on advance payment, but it will definitely guarantee you a good seat. :-) Reports from their last tour (very sparsely attended) indicate that this is an event not to be missed. Don't pass up a chance to see these talented performers before their star rises like Jewel's! Email me for personalized directions to the concert. There will be limited crash space available to EDAs who need to spend the night, first come first served. We'll do what we can to help everyone out. WOOHOO! :-O actually, that was discussed with great length last year, with the argument that jewel isn't popular enough to warrant the release of a double album, but that view might be a bit altered right now amongst some people. sure, the smashing pumpkins did it after only two albums (and a collection of b-sides), but i honestly don't think the jewel is at that stage right now. if anything, i'd be happier to see more songs on cd singles, like tori and sarah have done. otherwise, jewel just might make her next four albums with songs i already know. bleh. :( oh well. sometimes it be that way. eric :) - -- Crash Boy's EDA Page --- http://thespis.com/crashboy ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Jul 1997 22:27:07 -0400 (EDT) From: MorpheusOB@aol.com Subject: Bearsville - all attendees please read OK, this is going to sounmd pathetic but.. And while we're on the subject of pictures, it would have been nice if you guys waited for Rachel, Kelly, Able, Laura, and I to come back to the campsite before you took the group pictures, but...oh well...:) Thanks again, Tom ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Jul 1997 23:04:16 EDT From: id@juno.com Subject: EDA ????? I do agree in some cases about what both are saying, but I will not talk about this on the list. Now withthis new real world, I personally can say from the only episode that I saw, that I liked London a lot better. The reasoning behind it was that the members in london got alomg a lot better and were able to deal with most everything pretty well. Remember the tiongue biting incident and how they all pulled together on it. Okay I can already see some really good and juicy arguments coming from this season of the Real world, but it is to bad that I work during the showing of the episodes every Wednesday. If they want to show you all the bad/good parts about someone then they can. Here's my opinion of hte people so far: Elka-I think she is one of the prettiest girls I have ever seen. She seems really nice but kinda' prejudiced. Genesis-Seems really cool to me. Jason-I don't like him at all. Talking about getting vibes & junk from some "bad cats" Kameelah-I don't like how everyone is talking bad about Kameelah saying she is bossy or whatever. She knows what she doesn't like about her body & doesn't seem to care what other people do withe themselves. Montana-okay I guess; no real opinions...yet Sean-It seems like he has 2 different personalities to me. Syrus-I thought I wouldn't like him but he seems really great. Just some thoughts. But at that time it's past 1 am in Europe. Well those vampires who can manage to be at a computer at that time are welcome to join in, but I was thinking some more reasonable times should be established to accomodate EDAs no matter where they are. So here's my idea: We keep the 8pm ET time for the Americas. But for Europeans and Africans, log in at 8pm of your local time. This would be between 2pm and 4pm ET. There is usually a smattering of EDAs around being home from school or logging in from work. Hawaiian EDAs should log in around 2pm your time to be in the 8pm ET chat. Australian and asian/indian EDAs -- what can I say? We're over ten hours apart so you should probably organize something seperate for the Eastern hemisphere. The idea is to be as inclusive as we can here. That and I was wondering about who would be IRCing in the middle of the day (Me!) when I realised to many people, it was late-evening already. And with all the Norwegian, and Israeli, and Irish, and German etc. EDAs, we'd be able to populate the room pretty well. And yes, my motives are selfish -- I can only IRC when I'm at work. Anyway, why don't we try it this Thursday. And feel free to pop in any day of the week at any hour of the day.
