Ani is simply incredible! In my opinion, the new, double-live CD "Living In Clip" is the one to start with. Not only is it a sort of 'best of/greatest hits' collection, but Ani is really at her best when performing live, and I think this set captures her power and electricity better than her studio efforts. On top of that, it's a beautiful package with a thck 30+ page booklet of color photos. I think you'll love it. By the way, the only reason you don't hear Ani on the radio much is because she is on her own, independent record label, instead of a major label like Atlantic or whatever. This is by her own choice, she has turned down numerous offers by the majors because she has decided to do it on her own as a matter of principle. She is one of the best-selling indie artists ever, but sadly her top-quality stuff still gets passed over by the mass media, who are so completely influenced by the big labels and all their clout. There are some similarities between Ani and Alanis, except that Ani is MUCH better and was doing it years ago. But Alanis got onto Madonna's label, and they hired Flea to play on her record, so she's the one with billions and billions served. If you have an opinion, then say it and be prud of it and who cares what other people think about it. If I say something bad about Marilyn Manson(which I frequently do), and someone gets offended by it, then they are just being stupid. I am not talking baout them. The only person that has the right to be offended is Marilyn Manson. Second of all I would like to say that this is one of the dumbest newsgroups I have ever subscribed too. You people all call yourselves Jewel fans but all you ever do is complain about everything she does. She is becoming too popular(like she's going to decline to appear on a magazine cover...would you? I don't think so). Her video sucks(You should appreciate it for the sheer beauty of it and of her). blah blah blah. If all you are going to do is complain about her then why do you consider yourselves fans? And if you aren't a fan well then you probably shouldn't be on this newsgroup. Don't any of you ever get sick of arguing back and forth about how Jewel is doing one stupid thing or another when we should all be appreciating the good things that she does do? Do you forget so easily the simple things that she does that no one else can? Her dancing lyrics and her playful guitar. There's a purpose in everything she does, and just having someone like her to appreciate and listen to us makes us luckier than many. I think a line from I'Sensitive applies to all you Jewel bashers/supposed fans out there. "Maybe if we are surrounded in beauty, someday we will become what we see." This applies to what we say and hear as well, so why don't some of you "fans" start talking a little more about the wonderful things she does do instead of all the bad things that some of you "think" she does. RIGHT ON!! I hate it when the group gets into saying;oih, well i think jewel has way too much popularity... i want her all to myself....that just drives me *nuts*..... > She is becoming too popular(like she's >going to >decline to appear on a magazine cover...would you? I don't think so). i wouldn't and no one else would either, besides it's about time some other artist that i love to be on the cover of TIME.... >Her >video sucks(You should appreciate it for the sheer beauty of it and of >her). > blah blah blah. If all you are going to do is complain about her >then why >do you consider yourselves fans? Speaking of opinions.....mine is that it's too, like shadowy, i mean i know it's like a mysteriuos song and all, but really, how far can you go?? ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Jul 1997 20:58:09 -0400 (EDT) From: Linda the Every Day Angel Subject: Re: Manson and the Angel Excuse me? How DARE you bash us EDA's - you just read the wrong posts!!! The *NJC* posts have nothing to do with the EDA's it's just a bunch of extra stuff we talk about.. Besides - this isn't a newsgroup, silly, it's a MAILING LIST... We all here are VERY GENEROUS with our love and this mailing list is for loving jewel, and discussing things about her and being open to opinions of several topics. We don't bash jewel - WE LOVE Miss Kilcher, why would we bash hegr? And on top of that how DARE you call us SUPPOSED fans? Oh What you can judge what a fan is and isn't? Excuse me, but I've been a Jewel fan since before I even heard any of her songs on the radio.. adn don't call me an MTV trendy because I don't even have cable, honey.. Now I'm aggravated.. and when you aggravate me, then you know you've gone bad.... it's very hard to tick me off.. but god damnit you did it... I LOVE JEWEL AND I AM ONE OF HER BIGGEST FANS - I ARGUE ABOUT MANY THINGS ON THIS LIST BECAUSE I WANT MY OPINION TO BE HEARD - I NEVER FORCE IT ON OTHERS - I JUST SPEAK IT .... I think that if you can't handle people's opinions on these issues or their posts about the FOolish Games video, or Jewel's ever-possible movie career, then you shouldn't be here!!! If you don't want to hear other people's rightful opinions, then why do you even bother? And posting a message slandering us to our faces is not a smooth move.. If you had been here longer or read the right messages you'd have seen that we talk about the beautiful things she does more than the ugly things.. Besides.. I dont' recall us ever talking about anything bad she's done... because she really hasn't.. We talk about opinions.. that's about it... So you must be confusing something... Any comments are welcome - flames, praises... whatever ttyl*hugglestoallbutcisalpine* - -linda the lovable EDA On Thu, 17 Jul 1997 Cisalpine@aol.com wrote: > I don't see why everyone is always worried about offending people on these > things.
