I am a huge Beatles fan, and my fave album is definately the White Album. Sure, other albums such as Abbey Road and Revolver were more consistent, but there is something in the diversity of the White Album that lends it a charm and a grace. Songs like Dear Prudence, Bungalow Bill, Blackbird, Julia, Sexy Sadie, Mother Nature's Son, Cry Baby Cry and of course Helter Skelter are essential songs that no Beatle collection should be without. Sure, ther not "hits" per se, but artistically, the White Album features some of the best, and most quirky stuff that the Beatles have done. Take care all, and sorry about the NJC. Kinda like a back to school thing/end of summer party. We just wanted to get a basic headcount of who might be intersted. We are going to try and buy tickests in advance so they will be cheaper. No other plans have been made yet. Please send any suggestions, offfers of help, etc. to either of us. So far we have about 4 people confirmed - Liz Clark, Andrea Rotter, Carrie & Bill Dallner. I'm going to try to=20 write about everything that happened this weekend :) Proceed with Caution :) **************************************************************************** ****=20 Tom and I finally get out of the speedway and head off to the Lake where the other EDAs were. It is now pouring rain and we don't know where the heck the lake is. "Hey Tom, is it north or south?" We don't even know. Farr just told us that it is on highway 114. We try to call Farr on the cell phone but I find out later that we were calling the wrong freaken number. :) It was cool driving around. We were totally lost. We drove and drove. "Where is this freaken lake?" We look and look but only see little ponds and stuff. "I don't think those are lakes, Tom" :) We get all the way to this familiar looking place. Hmm....wait....isn't that the resturant that Dan, Pete, and I ate lunch at on friday. Damn!! we are almost to Dallas now :) This is a long ways from Grapevine lake. Opps....we head out in the other direction. We pull out a map and think we know where we are going now. Yeah...sure :) We finally get a phone call from farr and he tells us where he is. Finally after driving around for an hour and a half or so. We finally find the darn lake. Now we have to find Farr and the RV. We don't know which entrance the camping area is either but we do know what the section # where Farr is. This place is huge. By this time it's around 8am or so. We can't go in and the gates because they don't open till 9. We decided to get something to eat. "Hmm...I wonder what fine resturant is open at this time of the morning?" We stop at a 7-11 convience store for some food and some directions :) Mmmm....the finest food around :) I buy a breakfast burrito and a sausage biscuit. So we buy the sunday newspaper. There is a pretty cool looking picture of Jewel in it and a helicopter view picture of Rockfest. Cool!!!! :) We get back in the car and start scarfing down our food. God, I was soo... hungry. After almost eating all of the delicious finely made food, I look at the darn wrapper. It's was made on june 19 and said eat before june 23. "What the heck is today?, June 22?" Eww....gross....We were eating 3 day old breakfast burritos. We didn't seem to care at the time though. We could have eaten the dirt from the ground that morning. :) We get directions from the 7-11 lady and we are off for the Lake.=20 We get to the darn gate and ask the man if they have a Farr sheperd here. The man doesn't know a thing about a Farr Sheperd. We tell him that he is in lot 28. The man says it is empty. We decide to go in anyway. Guess what? Farr is in lot 28. Woohoo!!!!!!!!! We finally find the RV!!!!! :) Cool!!! We get in the RV and immediately go take a darn shower. I didn't even take one yesterday. So I was kinda smelling funky! :) After all the showers and stuff. Tom tells Mia something and Mia does this really cute sad face thing with her lower lip sticking out. If you ever meet her tell her to do it for you. It's really cute! :) Mia is the coolest! :) We decide to eat!!! Farr fires up the grill again and makes some FARRJITAs=AE They were damn good!!! I was still damn hungry at one point that I get my plate and just put cheese on it, totally forgetting about the tortilla part. Everyone laughs and I look all stupid. :) Steve during this time is playing the guitar and we all sing WWSYS and other songs badly. :) It was really cool. Steve you have to teach me how to play the guitar one day. You rock :) After we are done eating. Eric, Tom and I decide to play frisbee. We all sucked at throwing the frisbee, well not me of course. hehehhe ;) :) Eric couldn't throw staight. I would be standing right in front of him and he would throw it to my far left! Eric you suck!!! heheheh *kidding* :) Eric is one cool dude and so is Tom. :) I think we threw or tried to throw the frisbee around for about 40 minutes? I don't really remember.=20 We now go around finding a place to swim. Farr drives the RV around the lake and try a place where to swim. We went near the water, and these geese run up to us. They want food. Someone brings some bread from the RV and Farr feeds them. They eat right out of his hand. The also peck him everytime when there is no more bread. :) Farr decides to pick one up. Whoa....cool! Eric takes a picture. Cool! We tried to feed the little ducks but they sucked cuz they didn't eat right out of our hands. Then we see this strange duck, goose? It looked really strange cuz it looked like a mix between a turkey and a goose. I don't know if we got a pic of it but it looked really strange. We finally get to this place where we can swim. Everyone but me swims, cuz i can't swim. They tell me to come in the water but i don't want to die. This was my first EDA gathering and I didn't want it to be my last :) As we were swimming we see Dan and Pete drive up with his Ford explorer. We go back and meet up with them. They tell us that there is a storm warning in about 30 minutes or so. And guess what? The storm was right on time. There was also a tornado warning too. Whoa....maybe this will be my first and only EDA gathering cuz...if a tornado hits we're going to die!!! :) It just pours rain and when it is all over nothing really happens. Phew!!! :) Dan and Pete are rushing me now to pack up and head out. They were going to drop me off at the airport. Oh no....it finally over....:(=20 I start packing and stuff. I realize I brought way too many clothes. I didn't even use half of them. :) I ask Farr where the heck is my blue hat. Early in the day, he found my hat laying around and asked me where did i want it to be put. I told him to "chunk it" What I really meant was chunk it over on the couch. Guess where he put it? Guess? He thought I had told him to throw it in the trash!!! He searches in the garbage bag and there it was. There was no gunk on it though. Which was good cuz if there was any stuff on it I would have kicked his ass *kidding* :) It was so funny though. I was not at all mad. It was funny :) It was time to leave now. I give Mia and Jessica hugs and shake hands with all the guys. I tell them them it was nice to meet them all.=20 Dan and Pete drive me to the airport. While driving a Bush song comes on. Woohoo!!!!! Dan and Pete make fun of them. I beat them both up. hheheheheh *kidding* :) They drop me off at the airport and I wait forever from my plane ride. The flight was delayed until 10:35pm, the flight was really supposed to leave at 8:30. I wasn't mad or anything. All the people around me were just going nuts and yelling at the people at the counter. I didn't care cuz I had such a great time with the EDAs and at Rockfest that I was just cheery and stuff. I got to talk with other people there about Rockfest and heard that the Nixons didn't even play after Bush. Hmm.... weird. My plane finally comes and I go home.=20 =20 THE END "Somewhere...Sometime...All things will be fine"-BUSH ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Jun 1997 20:43:22 -0400 (EDT) From: "Mark Anthony Miazga" Subject: makes me cry... the saddest songs I know Here are some of the saddest, most beautiful songs I know, all of which can leave my eyes wet. Fast Car, Tracy Chapman -- a subtle song about the turmoil of the ghetto, sung with such conviction that it leaves a lump in your throat. Bridges, Tracy Chapman -- has become my favorite Tracy song, with its message of forgiveness and hope, it's utter beauty. At this point in my life, Tracy Chapman -- An aching song from Tracy's latest album. Matters of the Heart, Tracy Chapman -- Because it basically describes my own love life, it has become one of my most personal songs. Farewell Reel, Patti Smith -- From her latest album, this is a simple folk song Patti sings to her dead husband... "So darling farewell/all will be well/and then all will be fine/the children will rise/strong and happy be sure/ and the corn still grows/and God only knows/we're only given as much as the heart can endure." It's heart-wrenching. Restless College Years, Wally Pleasant -- It made me laugh, it made me cry. Denny's at 4 am, Wally Pleasant -- a song about loneliness and travelling on the road that is cloaked in a hilarious story about Denny's. A Better Place to Be, Harry Chapin -- probably #1, if I had to pick. A nine-minute story/song that's simple and eloquent and wrenching and superb. Hey Jupiter, Tori Amos -- It demonstrates the strength of an artist when lyrics as cryptic as this can move me as much as this. That's all for now, maybe more later. - -- Mark A. But still, I don't think they should've put a big name in that role. Also, is it just me, or were the first three Batman movies semi-believeable/realistic, where this one...well, was not (to say the least)? - -J.C. amxd99a@prodigy.com http://pages.prodigy.com/SymphonicRealm/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Jun 1997 22:25:21 -0400 (EDT) From: FabCAGal@aol.com Subject: Re: NJC: Batman & Robin In a message dated 97-06-26 22:17:59 EDT, you write: << .They're trying to use her to get more money. :( -Christa:) >> \ Of course they are. That is what it is all about. Whether we want to believe it or not, Jewel is motivated by cash as the rest of us. And the record label is even MORE motivated...same with the movie people. Did any of us actually think they added Jewel to the soundtrack to actually put it in the movie? It simply didn't match. That whole soundtrack, like many today, are not to enhance to movie, but to put famous names up that will make die-hard fans, such as us, buy the CD. It worked, right!? I won;t listen to it unless I know I have time to emote :) "Thunder Road" by Bruce Springsteen -- "The screen door slams, and Mary's dress waves" It usually only happens when driving but god....what a song. "Hospital" by Johnathan Richman -- "But I'm in love with that power that I find....in your eyes." A song of unconditional love....amazing. "Sling Blade" directed by Billy Bob Thorton -- I'm not gonna give this one away, the end of the movie is a little weak, but the middle is beautiful. A Great job by Thorton. "Our Town" by Thornton Wilder -- Before you say....oh...I read that in Jr High and it was boring! Read it again....and pay attention to act III. :) Oh well....that's a few of them...you know, just to establish myself as a "sensitive guy of the ninties" :) JAC "Information is not knowledge. Oboe's don't sound like that, but they do kind of look like that. It was some type of sax, but I don't know exactly what. Does anyone know? I think I saw one like it in that video they sometimes play of Kenny G's. The one w/ Savion Glover in it. I don't like Kenny G, so I have no idea what kind of sax it is. Maybe it's not a sax at all.
