Have you noticed that all of Jewel's songs are copyrighted "Wiggly Tooth"? I have to whisper this part ... (begin whisper) ... That's a secret code, indicating the manner in which you can extracate yourself from this wicked web ... (end whisper) ... Unfortunately, you will have to wait until one of your teeth becomes wiggly and, depending on your age, that could be a while. Fortunately (judging by the returns of the "getting to know u" poll), odds are that you are still young and, if you play hockey (like Emily), you just might luck out. Now, when said tooth becomes wiggly enough to fall out (you must not extract it yourself...that constitutes a violation of EDA protocals), the next step is to place it under your pillow. Sound familiar? Then, say a special prayer to the star of your choice (we are non-sectarian around here), although the management must, in all good concience, advice you that one star in particular is known to bring the fastest and most guaranteed results. Hint: A star that is easily visible (in the bucket of the Little Dipper) no longer has just a bunch of teloscopic co-ordinates for a name. It has been officially redesignated as 'Jewel Kilcher (Jewel of the North)' If you need help finding this star, proceed to the website at: http://home.sprynet.com/sprynet/xenomorph/birthdy3.htm Now, with your tooth safely under the pillow, concentrate, with all the power of your mind, on the above mentioned star. If other thoughts come into your mind, let them pass like clouds passing before the sun in the sky and return your focus to the star. Repeat (in your language of choice), "Please remove me from this Jewel mailing list". Say it once forwards and then once backwards, pronouncing each syllable in the reverse order. (Note: It sometimes works better if you stretch out the vowels a la Bob Dylan...Some say that Bob Dylan actually invented this procedure. Personally, I doubt it. After Jewel tweaked his nose, Bob swore off these pagan rituals) Repeat: Pleeeeease reeeeemoooooove meeeeeee frooooooom thiiiiiiis liiiiist. Then, Tsiiiiil siiiiiht mooooorf eeeeeeem evooooomeeeeer esaeeeeelp. (Sidenote: notice the similarity to Dutch? That's the secret of the Dutch Trading Co. and how they cornered the market on mailing lists centuries before they were created.) Wait at least ten days. Sometimes this cosmic interdimensional stuff suffers from temporary technical problems and inexplicable (at least to humans) delays. If this doesn't work, read the email message that you recieved when you first subscribed to this list. It explains how to remove yourself from the list, but the question remains, after discovering this amazing group of people, why would anyone want off this list? So, I'm gonna clear up a few things here. - --- First: This movie is not Gianny's, or at least it didn't start that way. It's mine!!! Except my movie was about a gorilla, hmm... But anyways, as of now, preliminary plans for "HunterE and his Midnight Popsicle Crusades Against Gianny and ozzs Elite Army of Amazonian G-string Monkeys in New York Part Dew" look pretty are being discussed among the writers, and it looks like the part for Queen of the Dorks (just a cameo, really) will be filled by Tessa, though Farr in drag ran a *very* close second for this role. But hey, they're the same person anyway, aren't they? - --- Second: To find out what the signifigance of the popsicle, you must be on IRC any night at 2 o'clock EST. - --- Third: I own the largest (fake, don't want anyone to report me to the authorities, not like it matters with the world-wide conspiracy and all) crack plantation in South America. However, if you want to order it must be at least 2 metric tons per order, otherwise it's just not worth my trouble. If you need less, contact Phil (poje). - --- Fourth: See how much fun you could be having if you were on IRC (Undernet, #jewel or #eda) late at night when the combination of crack and just plain being tired make everyone insane? Adventure this August I just read Mike's post about not planning things too far in advance. I'm usually like Rick in Casablanca when the woman at the bar asks him what he's doing tonight to which he replies, "I never plan that far ahead". (Or something like that.) But since I live on an island and it may take people longer to think things through and to learn boat schedules etc. I hope no one minds me trying to coordinate a Pacific Northwest EDA gathering this early. It was hoped that Cindy and Elizabeth could include Salt Spring Island on their Living Room Tour which runs August 1 - 10 but now it's hoped they can make it for a gathering on August 29 (the Labour Day weekend up here, is it stateside, too?) Plus with it being a tour date we need to get our numbers together as early as possible so we can be sure that the artists will be able to be paid appropriately. And, really, I'm just excited at the prospect so don't let me be misunderstood (how about Nina Simone and the Animals' versions of that song? Elvis Costello too...) Also, I posted earlier that Marian, the German EDA will be coming to North America in early August and it would be nice if he could get together with some of us, somewhere. (how's that for specifics). Wherever it be, let's try and get together with Marian who's travelling so far to get here. I mistakenly said "she" in my earlier post, and apologize since Marian's a he (just like Margaret is a she who was called a he a few days back). He was an angel in the right place when Jewel missed the Cologne birthday concert because she was sick -- Marian and Kris and the Crying Angel (and others, I believe) made to the next show and there's soon to be a web-site devoted to this special concert appearance at Quasimodo (?). Anyway, when I was growing up people only knew of Adrienne Barbeau so I got thought of as being a girl when people only heard my name. Then Rocky came out and I heard "Yo, Adrian/Adrienne" a LOT. Thanks to Jewel and Steve Poltz people recognize that Adrian is both a male and a female name -- but people now ask me if I canoe. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Jun 1997 01:57:45 +0100 From: patrik@octonline.com Subject: Re: NJC: Study in color... (Found 1, really cool, 4 metro stops from school, and 3 blocks from the Pentagon). I got back Monday night and I thought, just in time to tape unplugged. So last night I checked the listings and it said unplugged at 8pm. And it was Rockfest. By 9:30 I was tired, and I figured they had just rescheduled Jewel. I went to bed!!!!! Now I see it was on at ten. When is it going to be repeated? (At least I got the rocked up version of YWMFM from Rockfest on tape). MuchMusic has aired SEVERAL "Unplugged" specials since the introduction of I&I. Just be patient and we'll get to see it. I have to second that motion for an "Intimate & Interactive" with Jewel. Hello... Like the subject heading says, this has NJC whatsoever, so if you want JC, feel free to delete this email... I wanted to share another one of my poems with you. I was really really bummed, down, out of it, angry, when I wrote this...I wrote it after calling home on the day after my birthday. It was a sort of cathartic thing, you know? I wanted to share it with you all, just because. I am not claiming this poem in my "good poems" pile at all. It's just something I pounded out in between the tears... oh, and it has no title... by Stephanie Maria Kartalopoulos I'm not sorry that I'm never good enough for you I'm not sorry that I don't wear suits or get straight As I'm not sorry that I don't watch CNN that I'm not a Republican that my life does not mirror yours Never will I be sorry for living my own life Never will I be sorry for havin a soul I call my own Never will I be sorry for loving you even though you hurt me I'm not sorry that I like modern art I'm not sorry that I choose to read Dorothy Allison I'm not sorry that I always write in my journal that I like to watch movies alone that I'd rather speak French than Greek Never will I be sorry for living my own life Never will I be sorry for having a soul I call my own Never will I be sorry for loving you even though you hurt me I'm not sorry that I love people instead of money I'm no tsorry that I want to live my dreams and not be rich I'm no tsorry that I let my passions drive me that we don't share the same God that I find beauty in sunset while you find fault in me Will you ever be sorry that you've lost my loyalty? Will you ever be sorry that you can't find beauty in your creation? Will you ever be sorry that my tears reveal the pain you've inflicted on me? I shall never be sorry for being who I am, for to apologize for my existence would be to have no soul. And, most of all, I'm not sorry for having my own soul. (the end) Like I said, it's not a good poem, not at all like some of my other stuff, but it's cathartic...every time I read it it's sorta good...you know? oh wel I have used up enough of your email space... love you all...madly...insanely...so much it feels good... stephanie ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Jun 1997 10:04:11 -0400 (EDT) From: Albert Sze-Wei Wang Subject: Re: NJC: California, kookybaka state? You'll imagine living anywhere where there's work, which is what happened to me when I had to leave the Bay Area in N. California. The amazing thing about CA is that there are 2 almost completely different environments. Being a N. California person I love the deep forests, lakes, and mountains. S. CA has its warmer temperatures, wonderful beaches and tons of places to do open activities. They don't call it the Sunshine State for nothing. :) I couldn't imagine leaving my homestate of CA for the longest time (having lived there for 20 years), but reality always changes that. But you find wonderful things elsewhere too. The world fortunately doesn't limit its beauty to one place, and man fortunately hasn't destroyed the beauty in the other places yet. ^_^;;; Albert Wang Dark Seraph bahamude@user1.channel1.com Jewel Quotes and QTs http://hugse1.harvard.edu/~wangal/jewel.html ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 25 Jun 1997 10:11:10 -0400 (EDT) From: Albert Sze-Wei Wang Subject: Re: Jewel and the Rugburns On Tue, 24 Jun 1997 ehicks@flash.net wrote: > ya know, this may sound kinda dumb, but has anyone ever had carrots and > peanut butter together? Yup. I think it's not bad if you have the right brand of peanut butter. Some peanut butter brands are pretty disgusting. > I have, and i think it's pretty repulsive. I > always wondered how Jewel could have lived eating mostly carrots and peanut > butter because it tastes like crap! Of course, that's just IMO... I don't think it's that bad, but I freely admit I'll eat most things. I have a few friends who just plain old flat out hate peanut butter, or just don't like peanut butter much at all, so the thought of it with carrots doesn't make it any better. It kinda makes sense because peanut oils seem to be something that repulse some people- not to mention fatal to some. > maybe i > just have wacked out taste buds or something... Not at all. Just that you have different tastes and that's ok. :) Albert Wang Dark Seraph bahamude@user1.channel1.com Jewel Quotes and QTs http://hugse1.harvard.edu/~wangal/jewel.html ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V2 #482 ***************************
