Now that I've seen her play in a concert enviroment I wish I had made it to Rockfest. The intamacy that she has the with the audience was unlike anything I've seen before. It wasn't like she was performing. It was more like everyone was just hanging out and having a good time. It makes me wonder what the old Interchange were like. The only problem that I had with it was the piano. It seemed to over power Jewel's vocal on YWMFM and when it came in on Foolish Games. I'm hoping my audio tape turned out ok. I only have POY but after hearing all of the off-album songs I definately want some Angelfood. I can't wait until MTV re-runs it(whenever that is). I'm also hoping it is released as an album like past artists have done. I know I'd be the first in line. - -Brian hungry newbie angel ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Jun 1997 23:33:03 -0400 From: "John M. P. RS760 p45 col 2 ...In ninth grade, Jewel joined a rap group called - as only a ninth-grade rap group could be called - La Creme. "My boyfriend at the time, Damien, was in the group," she recalls. "They called me Swiss Miss." cool? cool. and if RS was wrong, please correct me! they may twist teh story a little, but usually, the general facts are pretty straight. Unplugged wise, nice. I personally like the band/orchestra (there were at least seven of them! that's not a band! that's an ensemble!) sound, the soprano sax on tone of the new songs (i can't recall the title right now) was especially nice. also, one part of one of the originals started with the exact same melody line as the first line form U2's Staring at teh sun in teh same rytym and all, you could sing teh first few lines togehter and then it stopped so oh well... If you have the tape, try and sing the "Summer stretchin on the grass..." part along. it's kinda strange. She didnt play classics like SIBTW or Flower or something like that!! THe songs that not many people like us have heard that are so wonderful!! What did you guys think of Josh Redman and the intro to WWSYS?? Wasnt it great!! It set such a great mood to start the song!! I think ive heard Josh Redman before in NY!! Good to see him again!! And what about Foolish Games?? Didnt like that she cut out those lines but it was so passionate!!! my girlfriend was literally crying because of how emotional Jewel was!!! There were too many comercials!!! Not enough songs!!!!! Well MTV did a great job with the sound and production!! Sounded and looked really nice!! Cant wait to get it onto cassette tape!!!! By the way, Is distributing casette tapes of unplugged unlawful cause it will probably be produced into a cd by MTV!!!!!! Finally - the "Official" EDA Shirt is here !!! The EDA Shirt is here!!! Finally, The T-Shirt Guy (tm) has returned with a new, better than ever "Official" EDA T-Shirt. Last year, the Everyday Angels wanted to make a shirt so we could easily spot each other at concerts. Designs were submitted, idea were exchanged. I became The T-Shirt Guy (tm) and was in charge of the project. Then the EDA world was turned upside-down with the announcement of JewelStock. The JS shirt satisfied the need and the EDA shirt was put aside. People never forgot, however, and have been asking me when was I going to finish the EDA shirt. Well, now I have my act together and a new design (which has Jewel and Lenedra's blessing) and I am ready to make the shirt available to the list. The shirt can be viewed and ordered over the web at http://www.cybercom.net/~pjk/EDA (I should have a couple alternative sites up soon if in case there are any more problems with my server) or if you do not have web access simply email at this address for all the information on the shirt (design, ordering, etc.). If you would also like a jpeg of the design just ask. If you have any questions feel free to email me. I was sad because I'm both a Jewel and No Doubt fan and they showed a lot of Jewel and No Doubt. At the very end of the show, I noticed they closed with No Doubt. Gwen turned around and music began. Then, she turned to the crowd and started singing "Don't Speak"..."You and me, we used to be together...". They played a few verses and then faded out with the credits. I finally got a video tape and taped it tonight. However, when they played "Don't Speak" at the end, they started it at "You and me...I can see us dying" and played the ending, ending at the beginning of "La la la la la..." First of all, am I just seeing things or did they change the credits? Second, if there really are two different credits, can someone who taped the original premiere make me a copy? Thanks. It is great. Does everyone else like it? Wow!!! or as Frank Zappa said Wowie Zowie!!! It was great! Incredibly great!!! A Jewel fan's dream show! Almost as good as being there. The band was understated and blended in nicely. For having just rehearsed the previous day, they sounded great! It was a nice selection of songs although I would have replaced "Passing Time" (which I thought was the weakest of the set) with something lighter and more uptempo to balance out all the heavily emotive songs. Don't get me wrong, I totally loved the songs and the performances but sometimes a change of pace, and counter point, enhances the whole set. Jewel looked beautiful as her naturally radiant self and the simple clothes didn't distract from her expressive face. All in all it was the best TV show of Jewel to date.
