Because of this "no Jewel content" personality the list takes on alot, it was devised late last summer to use the acronym NJC (No Jewel Content) in the subject IF the post in fact has nothing to do with Jewel, and it was adopted by the list and list owner Jeff Wasilko as 'official' list policy. Some folks use JC for "Jewel Content" or SJC for "Some Jewel Content" but that wasn't adopted as "list policy" as this IS a Jewel list and ideally, all posts should be considered Jewel Content unless otherwise specified by the NJC in the subject. However, of course feel free to use JC and SJC in the subject if you wish, it can only help :) I realize many are not doing this (using NJC in the subject), but please consider this an official request to do so on behalf of the list members who use the NJC acronym to filter their emails and for jeff Wasilko, who owns the list and wants us to use this acronym when appropriate :) For anyone new who may have not yet checked out my "new member" page, if you have web access please do as it's there specifically to help new folk get up to speed with Jewel, the list and EDAs quickly. It's at: http://www.spectra.net/~ducksoup Please note that this list is high volume and not everybody' cup of tea. That is why there is also a digest version and a Jewel-news version. The article discusses what amounts to cults in San Diego, saying that Jewel is a cult-type icon in SD. It also mentions the Everyday Angels at the San Diego soundcheck. It's more interesting, it's coming from the heart from someone who really gets your music and has become creative in there right because of it; it becomes this big family." Since this is new, there is currently no name for it. If you guys can creative such imaginative and great poems, I'm sure you can suggest a name for this magazine. =) Well, here's a poem I wrote a few weeks ago. It's called, "Fallen Angel" I couldn't stop the hate, I couldn't make them see. I'm surrounded by their weeping. They're dying because me me! In this world in which they live in, There isn't a sun. Blinded, lost orphans, Seeking salvation I saw them suffer, I saw them weep. Blocked by a hurdle, I could not leap. Why don't they help themselves?!? Their suffering's a heart-breaking chant! Why do they look at me like that?!? I would help them, but I can't. I'm an angel without his wings. Razor-sharp dagger to which my beating heart clings. Darkness enters and the skull of death sings It's frightening cry and the evil that it brings. They're turning on each other. They lie, steal, and kill. A world of anarchy, Corrupt, irreversably ill. Yet I lie here drowning, In my own tears of fear. For I can not help All those I love so dear. I'm an angel without his wings. Razor-sharp dagger to which my beating heart clings. Darkness enters and the skull of death sings It's frightening cry and the evil that it brings. That's it. Thanks for reading it if you did. =) Feedback would be nice, whether it's good or bad. Someone mentioned that there is already a cover photo for the new album. I beleive it has Jewel and one of her brothers when they were young, in front of a small store in Alaska. Correct me if I'm wrong. I haven't replied yet because I called Atlantic Records Publicity New York to confirm that this was a valid fund raiser endorsed by Jewel and her Management... First let me tell you Atlantic Records Publicity Deptartment is such a joke, I am one phone call away from NEVER covering a Atlantic artist again. The only person who has a clue is Patty Conte. I called Patty's office and spoke to her assistant requesting that she check this out with Jewel's management. To this day I have yet to recieve a response. I have no problem donating any images for valid fund raisers. HOWEVER, please understand that I can not just send images out with out confirming that it is endorsed by the artist. Does anyone on the list have a phone number for Jewel's Management? Thank You Richard R. How many of us >are not just members of the jewel@smoe.org list, but truly Everyday >Angels, whatever that means to us? Is there some way that we could >get an accurate count on this? Just wondering... > Well, we shall anilize that words "everyday angel" Everyday: 1: daily 2: usual; common Angel: 1: a)a messenger of God b)a super natural being with greater than human power 2:am image of a human figure with wings and a halo 3: a person regarded as beautiful, good, innocent, etc. However this is just a stale book version of the word. It has no fealing. An EDA to me is a person who goes beyond the call of duty to help someone. They give anyone a sholder to cry on and often cry with them. An EDA is a person who will help if possable, not just understand. To understand is only half of the greatness of having the title Everyday Angel. From simple things to making tapes for a fellow EDA, your best friend or someone you don't really know to starting a fund raiser for a homeless group, helping out in a hospital or daycare. This is a EDA. Everyday angel is also a fealing to me. It is the fealing of a job well done. That you gave it your all. It is the fealing of knowing that you are helping the less fortunate. EDA's also have the quality of trust and honor. What do you think that all these people do when they send out money to make tapes. They TRUST people to not cheat them, and the reciver HONORS there request. Trust and honor go well beond this simple gesture though. Everyday we use this trust and honor. True EDAs are not very common in the world that we grow up in. There are groups of influence like the KKK and there is world violence, nukeler wepons. But, even one true everyday angel can make a difference. It is possable that, one careing work an EDA did inspired another. EDAs are a small breed, but we are growing. There are many different names, and faces, but in the long run all these groups like Greenpeace and others are groups of EDAs. People who want to make a difference. I am an EDA. I hope also that every other person on this list is one too. Someday the world will wake up and see what is going on. And we will all be Everyday Angels. *snif* Nick PS.
