I know it's not much but it is nice to see people you've seen popping up in different places. And if anyone is wondering yes I did tape the show, and it was amazing. I think it was Atlantics idea. If it was I'm kinda surprised Jewel didn't stand up for herself. She can (i.e. Stuttering John(Howard Stern's "gopher")). If I were Jewel I would have demanded some breaks from Atlantic. Jewel happens to be worth alot to Atlantic moneywise, and that matters ALOT to Atlantic. At first Atlantic may have threatened to cancel her contract if she didn't do it how they wanted, but they would have given in because they wouldn't want to take the chance of losing her. I am truly surprised she didn't stand up for herself (see above incident). --BeefJerky ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 07 Jun 1997 08:41:58 -0400 From: Mike Connell Subject: Re: Jewel's Jewelstock Drummer Spotted Chris wrote: > Well I was watching the "Indigo Girls Live From Great Woods" from >the comfort of my living room tonight when I saw a strange ornge shape >bouncing in the background. Jerry Marotta was the drummer at JewelStock and during the recording sessions in Bearsville. For those that may want to know, Marc Schulmann was the guitarist, T-Bone Wolk was on bass, and Flea showed up with his bass to record a few too. A note from Jewel posted to the list tipped us off on that. Amongst other songs I'm sure, he also recorded with her on one of the two re-recorded versions of "You Were Meant For Me". Although, to the best of my recollections (shut up Mr Harris :) we never heard *for sure* if the one released was the one with Flea on bass, as it was kind of hinted by Hiranya in a post last fall that the YWMFM that was released does not have Flea on it. Part of what Jewel posted (thru Hiranya) to the list shortly after JewelStock was: > {snip}....so any way im just siting here in the studo listening to > 'some times it be that way' for the 1,000 time. Fellow Jewel Fans, This morning at 10:00 tickets went on sale to see Jewel, in Cleveland on Sunday September 7, 1997 at Nautica Stage. So, I got up there (to Rini-Rego, a local grocery store, with a TicketMaster location) at 9 so that I would make sure I got my ticket for the drawing, or how ever they were planning on running the ticket sale. There was 1 person in line outside, so I went in to see if I needed a ticket for the drawing. When I asked the women told me tickets were not necessary unless 10 or more people were in line. So, ofcourse, I did not get one. I waited for an hour, talking to another ticket buyer outside waiting. About 5 min. before the tickets were suppossed to go on sale two little obnoxious trendy girls ran outside and got in line. Just then, the Saturday manager came out calling off numbers. ( By this time, one other set of buyers was in line) I told the Saturday manager what the woman had said to me, and he told me too bad, and that I would have to get out of my spot in line to go get a ticket for the lottery!!! So, ofcourse I am all nervous that my seats will be terrible, or that I won't get seats at all. I run inside and the woman can't find the tickets! I am furious! So the manager comes in and says that they are out and that I will have to go back outside. My mother comes, I tell her the story, she is furious, so I am last in line now, right behind the poor guy I had sat with for an hour, and had been there an hour prior to this! They release to the inside to get our tickets, and the manager asks if he can speak with my mother. He then proceeds to tell my mother that he was sorry, but the woman had given me false information because she was from a different store! Except that she had sold us tickets one week before this for some other shows at Nautica! My mother told him that, and he said OH! Then she walked back inside with me! So now, here I am. Stuck with crappy seats to see my favorite singer and role model. And I am furious! Just thought I would tell you how bad these TICKETBASTARDS run things, and how bad the managers run things according to the TICKETBASTARDS! Anyhow my mother and I are writing letters to TICKETMASTER and to the owner of Rini-Rego's, and we will see what happens! Thank you for your time! Rachel & Chris showed up & we hung out listening to John Sebastion, who was doing an early show there, while we waited for others to show up & join us for dinner. They made me feel my age since their parents & I have his Lovin Spoonful LPs. 'cool' i thought. shake of hands, final laters, blah, blah, blah. then came john. seeing what steve had done, he inscribed "i'm a nazi" with a little swastika on the shoulder of himself along with the signature. thinking "man, this is gonna be cool" i started out the door to track down the enigma that is stinky. but as soon as john handed the photo to me, a fellow from the establishment nabbed it from my fingers and said "don't ever fucking touch anything in this place again." [direct quote]. i asked if he was kidding and he went on about how they put up the photos signed by all who play there on their wall. even after 2/3 of the band had signed it for me, he took it. i told him twa said it was alright to take it, and he repeated his glorious introduction to me, "don't ever fucking touch anything in this place again." "thanks for nothing," i said as he walked away. the conversation was a bit more involved than that, but i'm so pissed about the whole thing that it's all a haze. ever have that happen? so, i left empty handed. i had no $ for a cd or a shirt (long story), and ended up with no autographs. guess i'll have to wait until next time the 'burns come through the area. hope it's soon. they're well worth it. if not for that flaming prick, i had a brilliant time. the road trip, the casting of the x-men movie, meeting more eda's, and the entertainment. can't be beat. talk to all of you later, bill b ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 7 Jun 1997 18:25:31 -0400 (EDT) From: Charles M Spangler Subject: NJC: I'm going to Lilith Fair in Atl. It's a WAY KEWL venue, the stage is more or less floating on the river and it's in the heart of the riverfront (aka "The Flats") night life type of place (lots of clubs and bars etc... and more parking for boats than cars). and it WILL sell quick, it's not a very huge place.... although it is bleachers for seats and lots of standing and walking room, so I could be wrong on that)... other random information: I was sitting at Jacobs field last night waiting for the Indians game to start and what do they play? "Have a little faith in me" Jewel's. followed by the Tribe's managers announcement that it's not a very good idea to throw monopoly money at Albert Belle, as we were playing the WHite socks... it was all too sureal. Jewel and major league baseball parks. hmm, well.... then.... The former lead singer of The Bangles sang the National Anthem. I guess she's gone solo or somethin. at any rate............ that's all... Peace, Mia! ~~~~ Amelia S. Vlah *turtle* asv@po.cwru.edu Turtalia@juno.com please bear with any delay. Ok, I got tickets for Jewel in Harborlights Boston. I am going with acouple of my friends and would like to meet more. Which brings up a question. Are the EDA shirts done? If so, where can I get one? Sorry I haven't been on the e-mail lately, this might have already been said. If anyone here is going to Harborlights e-mail me, and tell me about yourself, you know, just the facts. Like age, intrests, stuff, more stuff. AND how can I go about meeting the one and only Jewel in all her glory. Any tips from those Jewel concert veterins? Like "don't approach her from the left side cause she lost an eye". Sorry sometimes my humor gets out of control. At any rate I would LOVE to hear from you. All of you. =) Nick the blurred angel ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Red_Ranger@juno.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I wonder what you think As we lay here in bed. Wendy apparantly had some heartache to share with the list regarding her grandfather being ill. Now, it is obvious by the reactive post that I am responding to, that Wendy recieved a lot of negative energy, and not enough support. I realize that many of you feel that the only discussion on this list should be strictly Jewel related, however, as it has been stated MANY times before, keep in mind that there is a person, with real feelings, behind that screen you are reading. Again, I bring up the notion that some people fail to remember what being an "everyday angel" is all about. So, to anyone that flamed at Wendy, I ask you to do some soul searching, and some self-analysis as to why you felt it necessary to hound her. I also plead with everyone to have some compassion for your fellow angel, even when they post things that aren't Jewel related. Thank you. Is that correct >or can i put it on my trading page. Hi Scott, (and all who do not know this) The JewelStock tape were given to the list by Jewel and Lenedra. With the tapes they gave us some rules to abide by. The 3 basic ones are: 1) They are to be dubbed for members of this mailing list only 2) Do not list them on web pages 3) Do not list them on "lists of tapes for trade" that you send people We should abide by those requests, as they were a gift to us. Anyway...I was going to post directly to Wendy and apologize for the attitudes of some of the members myself, but since someone else spoke up publicly I'm not going to post, but just show the support to Mandy's message. I totally agree with her and think maybe some people reply without thinking. Well..I do that sometimes and it's just not cool. So chill out and relax shall we? Since I joined this list (March 1996), there have been five posts by Jewel to the list. (I think there have been five, there may have just been four) I also would guess there were some before I joined. Greg? Steve? Andrew? All the ones I've seen were through an account other than her own (addy listed on her CD for fan mail purposes), which she never uses anyway. They were "relayed" to the list for Jewel, from Hiranya and from MrBB.
