Well today was the third (and final) performance of "Noises Off" at my school today. We (Allie was in it too) worked for over eight months on it. I don't know how many of you have seen the movie, but those who have can imagine how incredibly difficult it would be to put that play on in a high school. But we did it and it worked and it was freakin' hilarious! What disappointed me was that several people -- students AND teachers -- who said they'd come to today's matinee, didn't. We were anticipating a huge crowd for today and we got slightly more than either of the two previous nights. There was no one from administration there on any night. No principal, no vice principal. (I should mention that one of the three VPs honestly intended to attend, but something else came up.) I think the worst part is how people lied to us. When they say they'd like to see the performance and they imply that they are actually planning to attend, I expect to see them out there. Am I stupid or naive? I mean couldn't they at least have the integrity to say "no, I don't want to see your stupid play."? While this goes on, our entire school population is forced to attend pep rallies for athletic teams once per semester during school hours and no one even blinks at the inconvenience to the curriculum. But ask them to see a play or come to the school bands' concerts... Well you might as well not bother. Why is it that the more I look for the good in people, the more shit I find? I don't suppose I actually meant that, I'm just in a really bad mood. As stated before ticket master does not care...and obvioussly people don't mind it so much or they would stop buying tickets. Anyway: your complaining does do something. In Kansas City, our big concert venue is called Sandstone Ampitheatre, that is where 90% of the big concerts come...people complained, no people complained a lot about the prices and bad servive of ticket master continuallsly! And guess what? They no longer deal with ticketmaster! We have a new ticket company called Ticket Central! We have cheaper tickets now and they are easily availible(they are sold at Dickonson movies, via phone, at bars and dance clubs, and at AMF bowling alleys. They drove Ticketmaster out of town and ticketmaster lost a lot of money. Moral of the story: KEEP COMPLAINING: it works. We have cheeper tickets now..because of a lot of b@$ching! They were pretty expensive, but I think they'll be worth it. I'm just so happy that I'm gonna get to see Jewel live for the first time. Do any of you know of a way to get backstage passes? I'm making a guitar website, and I was wondering if any of you out there might help me with it. I understand some of you are guitar players like myself. If your name should be on the list but isn't, please email me immediately so I can make the correction. The final tally was 20 EDAs donating blood, and another pair doing other volunteer work in their communities instead. Thanks to all who participated, and the card will be forwarded to Jewel by next week! =) I'll also try to have a jpeg file available for the contributors to look at if they want to... Please keep in mind that the purpose of this drive was to give folks a taste of helping others, and to hopefully develop a healthy habit of routine donation in the process. If you want to check out the only site that I've made that has actually been published to the web, (two more are going to be published by late summer.) just browse over to http://cyclops.pei:8001/~praywalk/index.html It's pretty amazing for having absolutely no graphics. Saves a lot on download time. Westley Dent westleyd@juno.com P.S. If there is anyone else on the list, or not on the list, that is looking for someone to build a web page for them, I'm looking for projects over the summer. Just e-mail me and let me know. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Jun 1997 00:41:56 -0400 From: shallowend@asan.com Subject: Re: NJC: RugBurns and Chelsstock >Date: Mon, 02 Jun 1997 00:24:32 >To: tom morales >From: shallowend@asan.com >Subject: Re: NJC: RugBurns and Chelsstock > >At 07:25 AM 6/1/97 +0000, you wrote: >>Grrly1@aol.com wrote: >>> >>> Okay, my dad said i can go to the rugburnbs show in NYC on June 7th, also >>> known as "chelsstock" >> >>I think it's great so many are going to see them.
