I believe in the adage 'if you don't have anything > good to say...' but really, that CD sucked soooo bad and soooo hard, it > made my head spin. And it made me miss my Jewel CD even more. Which Susanna Hoffs cd is it? If it's her first cd, When You're a Boy, then, yes, It's pretty bad. There, Hoffs listened too much to her producers and made an over-produced, unnatural album. But her latest, eponymous cd is quite good. Hoffs has an amazing voice, and while sometime she still gets the urge to get too much production (she lacks some confidence), the album is full of gems. "All I Want" was one of the best pop songs of the year, and songs like "Beekeeper's Blues", "Eyes of a Baby", "To Sir With Love", and "Stuck in the Middle" highlight this former Bangle's excellent voice and knack for hooks. No, it's not a classic, but gosh I sure did like it. -- Mark - -- Mark A. Hi and happy holidays: Does anyone know the lyrics to My Body Is Changing? (If that's the title - -- it's something like that, the song that Jewel and Steve often sang together on the Tiny Lights Tour.) Thanks!! Adrian ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 May 1997 21:04:12 -0700 From: John-Eric Subject: My random EDA gathering =) Hi Stars (after listening all week to Star 100.7 I just feel like saying that now), =) I just got back from a faboo house hunting expediton/random EDA gathering in beautiful San Diego. Here is what happened: =) Wednesday, May 21 (after staying up all night doing laundry and packing) I left Roseville and headed down I-5 to San Diego. Let me tell you that I was flying man! =) It only took 8 hours to get there INCLUDING a 1 hour nap in between. =) Who knew a 1987 tan, automatic Ford Tempo could do 85 mph? =) L.A. was horrible, and I got all tensed up driving through it. L.A. (with the exception of a few zones) is like the movie "Death Becomes Her" in that it has just been damaged and then spray painted over to hide the damage so many times it is just an ugly and fake looking town. Just a bad feeling everytime I drive through it. =( Well I get to the place I'm staying at in Escondido and they are not home so I use the neighbor's phone to call home and to call the Starbucks Coffee in Point Loma (the store I am transferring to) and get directions. I drive to there and meet some of my new staff and then call Mandy to see if she wants to do anything. Just my luck Mandy was just across the street from me like 3 minutes ago! So I grab a bite to eat (McDonalds) which is promptly thrown back up (well, I wish I had, too much grease!) and then head to Ocean Beach to at least drive through. So I go back, stay up all night watching an Arnold flick, "Eraser" and then go to sleep at 3a, then wake up at 4:45a to get ready for work. I head down to Point Loma and have an awesome day at work, I am looking forward to being a part of this Starbucks team. =) Then, I go back to Encinitas and shower, go back to Ocean Beach and get some Del Taco and meet my friend Sonja at Java Joes for the Gregory Page show. Here's where the EDA part begins. Igor is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =) Gregory Page is the best, I am a big fan now!!!!! =) He just has something magical about his voice and music. =) Mandy is here (for a few seconds), happy birthday Mandy!!!!!! =) So then after the show Igor and I walk to the bar where Mandy is to get her but she is too busy partying and trying to get us to drag Gregory down to sing her a happy birthday song (Gregory is her self-proclaimed husband). =) =) Igor and I walk around OB and chat which was really nice since I didn't have a lot of time to talk with him at HDF. =) Then he says, "do you want to see where the old Innerchange used to be?" Woooooo hooooooooooo! =) We drive to PB and find the old Innerchange and there is something magical about it. =) Then we go out to eat at the Denny's where Jewel used to work. Let me tell you about Pacific Beach, the whole town is like one big frat party. I think I like the personality of OB much better, it is more humble and spiritual, not just drunk like PB and Mission Beach are. =) Thanks Igor for dinner, I'll take you out next time. ;) The next day I went house hunting alone in OB (Mandy where were you?) but it was really nice out. I found a house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =) As Igor kindly posted for me, it is a nice one and if one of my roomates flakes there is an open room welcome to any EDA. =) So that's about it, the people that work at Java Joes are so friendly and just fun to be around, can't wait to frequent open mich night there! =) Happy birthday Jewel and everyone have a safe and fun weekend! =) =) Peace and innerchange. =) - -- JE ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 May 1997 00:15:03 EDT From: agentorange2@juno.com (Rusty M Shelby) Subject: Lilith Fair ~ Atlanta, GA ~ August 1, 1997 Ok here's the deal.... if you are planning on attending this show, send an email to: limits@thespis.com tell me how long you plan on staying in atlanta, if you already have a room booked, etc. oh, you live in atlanta? tell us. we want to know this too. us atlanta folk finally got things together! we are coming up with a mailing list and web page for this show! it's all "in the works" and "in the mail" so to speak. so, let's try this again. even if you have emailed one of us before about attending this show, please send an email to the address above. thanks. we will be together in full EDA force...... soon. - -rusty ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 24 May 1997 01:01:27 -0700 From: "Adrian du Plessis" Subject: I'm gonna UPS my heart (to whoever has the answer...) I have another lyric question. This time it's about a Rugburns song -- I'm Gonna UPS My Heart to You. Does anyone know the lyrics. I went looking on Rugburns sites and when I stopped laughing I still hadn't found the lyrics to this song. (But I did find a picture of the boys that could've given Jewel the inspiration for her title "Moon Over Austin"!) Any help would be mucho appreciated.
