Her reply : Now that Jewel is raking in the bucks, she's been able to buy a few things for her sparsely furnished pad in San Diego. "My stereo is one of the first things I bought when I got some money," Jewel says dreamily. "I was really happy about it." Jewel isn't a big audiophile, however. She had her brother Atz pick out her equipment. "He knows a lot more than I do about that stuff," she says. "I'm not even sure what it is... I think it's a Kenwood, but I might be totally wrong." Well, no....that's not exactly what I said. (but it's my fault that I wasn't clear) I've been away from the list (actively, anyway) for the last month to straighten out some personal things. When I last talked to Alan on the phone about list stuff, he brought up this idea of the tape tree of the Hot Dog Fest and the CLB/EH get-together at the Snyders in Boston. I said, "it's a ways off, but something tells me I may be there when the time comes" (to tree the tapes), "...time will tell..." I did mention that if anyone else wanted to tree a tape, I'd be more than willing to assist/advise from consulting viewpoint, but I did not rule out running trees anymore. Let's face it folks, I *love* list projects :) ....I wouldn't have tackled JewelStock, the JewelStock tree, the last tree or my "Netiquette & Newbie" site if I didn't enjoy it....*NONE of us would*....reason?? Simply, the plusses FAR outweigh the minuses! All because of the wonderful EDAs that make up this amazing list. :) :) Yeah, I was basically burned out (Adam "Mr Pieces Of Jewel website" Longfellow....posted similar feelings yesterday), & had some sh*t to deal with in non-cyber/non-list life (alot of that going on around the list lately :\ ) but that is getting resolved and I'm quite sure (well, 99% sure) that when the time comes to do a tape tree, the Tape Nazi will be here to do his thing. :) Afterall, I love it. :) Your fellow EDA, Mike P.S. the "Tape Nazi" thing is an inside joke....I was jokingly (I hope!) called the Tape Nazi during the treeing of the JewelStock tapes due to the many rules and whatnot that were posted during the treeing process. A list member likened it to the classic "Soup Nazi" of Seinfeld fame and dubbed me "the Tape Nazi" :) At least it's not as dark and nefarious as the reason for the incarnation of the notorious Harris Brothers clan ;) /\//\\///\\\////\\\\/////\\\\\//////\\\\\\/////\\\\\////\\\\///\\\//\\/\ \ New to the list and confused? I didn't have my guitar but I sang a cappella. First, I went up there and I said a short monologue. It takes place in a waiting room and the "receptionist" introduced me and I went up there and I was like "I'm waiting for a change. Everything that could go possibly wrong has. When I was just a child, I moved from my beautiful home in Alaska to sing in a coffeeshop (?) in San Diego. Singing is what I love to do, but now all I have to my name is my guitar and the van where I live. I'm waiting for a change..." and then I sang "I Got the Blues More Than You Do The Blues" and the class went "Do-do-do-do" between the lines 'cause I had no guitar. I also had to change "Got so drunk I couldn't find my way home" to "Got so lost I couldn't find my way home" and "A lady in a bar" to "A lady on the street" 'cause alcohol references are not allowed. The audienced laughed at a lot of the song, including the chorus, the washboard, "I thought it was fun", walked uphill both ways with no legs, blind man, and dog. I can't wait until I do it in front of a real audience. Anyone have the tabs for the song though? BTW, to audition for the class next year, we have to have both a serious and humorous monologue which must be between one and 1 1/2 minutes. I am going to do Jewel's monologue that she sings before "A Thousand Miles Away" (about the starter, brakes, and left tire). I am so excited that I am allowed to incorporate Jewel into my acting. My fav. artists are: 1- Jewel 2- Alanis 3- Sheryl Crow 4- Celine Dion 5- Paula Cole there's more again, but it would take too long. Mark - --- Inside my heart there's an empty room.
