Does this happen to anybody else? It happens to me all the time. My parents have seen all these news stories about people who are killed by people they met on the internet, so they always think they have to warn me about things. When I told my mom how you got tapes, by sending them blank tapes, she didn't want to let me because she was scared I had to give them my adress. It was really funny. And then, after I convinced her that they probably wouldn't being flying in from Santa Monica or Missouri just to serial kill poor little ol' me when there were perfectly good victims right next door whose adress they already knew, she said, (I guess she just wanted to object to it somehow), "What if they keep the tapes and say they never got there?" Yeah, sure, it's a big scam, Mom. They're conning people out of blank tapes. They're gonna make millions. Parents worry too much. - --Shaun ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 May 1997 15:28:30 -0700 From: "Shaun" Subject: NJC: Song Dedication It's hard to narrow it down to one, but some candidates would be for a song I would dedicate to my one true love would be: - -"Tears in Heaven"-Eric Clapton. Helen ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: NJC: Polar Music Awards Author: Victor Igor Wasylczenko at INTERNET Date: 5/8/97 9:09 AM The Polar Music Award is given in Sweden. It is almost like getting the Nobel Prize but for music. It comes with a $151,000 award. Bruce Springsteen was one of two winners. His speech makes me proud that I listen to his music. Bruce's speech reminds me of what I look for in the music I listen to. I found the same passion for music and consern for the music listener in Jewels work. Someday she will be on that same stage receiving a meaningful award like this. She can pass all the other popularity awards for one award that would acknowledge her as a true artist. Batman Soundtrack To Feature Pumpkins, Jewel & More Jewel will have a track on the Batman and Robin soundtrack. Addicted To Noise Senior Writer Gil Kaufman reports: Because we're all about the blockbuster events here at ATN, we've worked long and hard to get you a sneak preview of the soundtrack to the upcoming Batman and Robin marketing vehicle. As previously reported in ATN, the Smashing Pumpkins will kick-off the soundtrack with their new song "The End is the Beginning is the End," the first single from the album, which will also contain a second new Pumpkins composition, the confusingly-similar "The Beginning is the End is the Beginning." The soundtrack will also boast a re-recorded tune from Jewel's debut called "Foolish Games," Moloko's "Fun for Me," Arkarna's "House on Fire," Me'Shell Ndegeocello's remake of the Coasters' 1959 hit "Poison Ivy," Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's new tune "Look Into My Eyes," and tracks from the Goo Goo Dolls, Underworld, Lauren Christy, Soul Coughing and Eric Benet. The soundtrack is slated for release on June 10th, while the movie event hits theaters on June 20. The video for the Pumpkins track was shot by the movie's director, Joel Shumacher, on an L.A. soundstage last weekend. According to a source on the set, the clip called for the three core members of the band to pose in front of green effects screens in "shiny black rubbery suits" for what we can only assume will be a special-effects laden video. With a track record that includes two previous multi-platinum soundtracks with hits from Prince (1989) and U2, Seal and Method Man (1995) and given the unrelenting big studio/summer blockbuster push the movie (which stars George Clooney, Chris O'Donnell, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Uma Thurman and Alicia Silverstone) will receive, this Batman album will likely produce similar results, something the Pumpkins, at least, are not unfamiliar with. http://www.addictedtonoise.com/html/lofi/MNOTW/display-news.cgi?97-05-05#Batman ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 07 May 1997 22:58:01 -0500 From: BeefJerky Subject: Re: NJC: Song Dedication I love that song too, though I forgot to mention it on my post about dedications...It is a sad song when you listen to the lyrics...It's about his daughter (6 months old then) who fell out of his apartment window, that's why he asks the question: Would you know my name if I saw you in heaven? He is home and fine, but he's had it rough lately. Three weeks ago he had to have a toe amputation because of diabetes, and now on the frist day he was able to drive, a speeder plows into him. I'm just feeling down tonight, first day after finals at school and now this.....If you would be so kind, I need cheering up.......Earl ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 07 May 1997 23:19:41 -0500 From: jprenzel@evansville.net Subject: Re: car accident Earl Bartlett wrote: > > Hey everyone, > I need a little uplifting tonight, my dad was in a car accident today and I > could really use some words of encouragement. Just want you to know that I'll be praying for you and your dad. I can't think of anything to say to cheer you up, though. Just be thankful that you dad is alive. It may not seem like it right now, but he was very lucky. So, just give him a big hug. Give him one for me too. Oh, and give yourself a hug from me, too. :-) Peace, Jessica ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 07 May 1997 23:51:59 -0600 (CST) From: pwmielech@stthomas.edu Subject: FG video Please forgive me if this has already been discussed but I was sitting in my communications class and for some strange reason I began to think about the FG's video. Well it occured to me that because it is in the Batman soundtrack they may make one of those movie music videos where they use clips from the movie. Well that would really suck. All I can think of is that annoying Seal video with Nicloe Kidman and Val Kilmer running around. that would certainly be a waist.
