It is not an import; it was produced in the Unitied States by Atlantic Records (PRCD 6416-2). It was never sold in stores--it was a disk sent to radio stations to promote the song "You Were Meant for Me." It includes a different version of the song recorded later that does NOT include the lines, "I love you and you love me" before "And soon you will see you were meant for me." Jewel said that her producer convinced her to delete that line, but now Jewel sings it in concert the original way. I hope you didn't pay a lot for this CD. The cuts of "Rocker Girl" "Cold Song" and "Emily" are bonus tracks. Jewel has stated in interviews that she recorded 22 songs for "Pieces of You" but only 15 made it on the CD. I assume of the remaining 7 cuts 2 of them are "Cold Song" and "Rocker Girl" that are on this "Barnabee" CD. (Emily was not written until much later). Does anyone know what the other 5 songs were and if they have been on any bootlegs? First, the aspect of participating in, supporting and promoting events, future gatherings and worthy social causes, locally by list members and volunteers throughout regions of the country, as well as on a larger scale through events and causes backed by the participation and support of the EDAs as a whole; and Seriously think about these things, post your ideas to the list & be nice to each other........ Alan(MrBB) Hi Everyone, I think what Alan and the others are proposing is an excellent idea. So without further delay, here's an idea you might want to play with. The laughter of children is the happiest sound you will ever hear. There is no sight more beautiful then that of child's face smiling. They touch our hearts and when we touch theirs, we are touching something very special indeed. These are the little Angels we see and hear around us everyday. When they smile, God smiles. The world is a tough place. To be an adult is a tough job. Remember what it was like to be a child? When you really did not know how tough the world was? As we grow and become adults we tend to forget what it was like to run and play. To have fun. That's what being a child is all about. Laughter, smiles and fun. These are good things. Here's my idea. Children love play grounds. There are far to few of them. We could do something about that. EDA's could sponsor community playground projects. You'll find that it is a very easy thing to get support for in your communities. Businesses will donate money. Local Gov't will often donate land. People will volunteer to help you build them. You could call it the "Angels at Play" program. Think about it my friends. EDA Playgrounds were children run, smile and laugh. You want to know what being in Heaven is like? Go watch and listen to the laughter of children at play, in a playground you built with your own two hands. Angels at play make the sweetest music your ears will ever hear. Your Friend, R. D. Love, Laura ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Apr 1997 15:29:54 -0400 (EDT) From: She Who Is Subject: Nakedness Hi Everybody, I came in today and checked my email and was apalled by the number of flames that have been showing up. It scares me because I feel this list is going downhill. Even though someone requested, very nicely (I applaud), that we drop the subject, I'd like to say something, about the whole naked photo thing. I agree that people are not sexual objects, and it upsets me when they are seen as such. However, I do not know myself, what the reason Jeffrey is looking for a naked photo may be. There is nothing wrong with nakedness in itself. It's nature! Many people, myself included, are uncomfortable with nakedness, but this is because we've been socialized so well. I crave the day that I will not be afraid of the truth of people beneath the clothing. Nudity can be sexual. It can also be beautiful, or it can be vulnerable. The fact that so many people find nudity offensive shows that they think of it as sexual, and again proves that we have been well-taught by our society. I just came from an art show at my university, and I saw lots of sketches, paintings, and sculptures of naked persons. I did not find them offensive, I actually marvelled at the talent it took to make them so realistic. Perhaps Jeffrey wants the photograph for artistic reasons, or perhaps to remind him that Jewel is just human under her clothes too. Or maybe he wants to jack off while looking at it. The point is, I don't know, and so I'm not going to junp to any negative conclusions. I prefer believing the best about people until I'm proven wrong. That's always strcuk me as an Angelic thing to do. As for Jeff's wording: > Does anyone have any naked photos of Jewel. That is my dream in life to > find a naked photograph of her. There is nothing offensive in it. He did not say he wanted nudie pics or porno shots. He asked for naked photos. I personally doubt if there are naked photos, because few people in this society have enough self-confidence to take naked photographs (PLEASE KEEP READING BEFORE YOU FLAME) that aren't for a purely sexual nature (ie, Playboy, Penthouse) or to make money and capitalize off of the sexuality. There is nothing wrong with sexuality. The problem comes when we misuse it. There is likewise nothing wrong with nakedness (I find that I nicer word than "nudity"). It's who we are, though some of us may like to forget it. So all I'm saying, is, think. Act in love, not anger. And realize that nakedness is part of who we are, and if we think nakedness is bad, what does that make us? Bless and Be Blessed; spread the Love! When I read Jeffrey's post about pictures of Jewel, I laughed out loud. Many people have stated that they think he said these things to get others upset, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he was being serious. I laughed because I instantly knew what kind of reaction he would get and I felt bad for him. Let me repeat that: I laughed because I instantly knew what kind of reaction he would get and I felt bad for him. That's right. He is probably some guy who thinks Jewel is hot and in his dreams hopes to see Jewel naked. I don't get what is so wrong with that. Granted, if that is *all* he likes about Jewel, then I can see the problem, but his post in no way indicates that. We are not Jewel's bodyguards (except when frisbees are about) and the Puritanical response to this post suggests that. Frankly, there are many men I know on this list and several women who would not turn away aghast if they saw Jewel naked. I know I wouldn't. What I found more interesting if the sudden nasty talk about people's "mothers" and "aunts". Gosh, with Mother's Day coming up and everything. So I personally volunteer to spank any naughty child who speaks disrespectfully about someone else's family member. However, I often have a busy schedule so your requests need to start coming in as soon as possible to make sure I get to everybody. NOW, to the matter at hand. I must thank Dave for his timely, positive introduction of the "opening line" thread. My current two favorites are: 1) Memoirs of a Housewife: "I have a secret obsession, it's totally Tupperware." 2) Buttercup: "Gee your mom looked like sh*t last night, Hope that Tinker-Toy boyfriend tonks her right...." I'm sure if I have misheard either of these someone will GLADLY correct me. Anyway, take care everyone, and let's not take ourselves too seriously. So, naturally, the only person who could get me to give blood at the time was my then-current girlfriend who I was trying to impress. About ten minutes into the procedure, I was laying on the little gurney they had set up signing show-tunes at the top of my lungs. I tried to get up twice to dance with the tube still stuck in my arm and had to be held down by the Blood Mobile attendants. Later, after several frosted donuts and some orange juice they sent me on my way telling me I would be shot on sight if I ever returned. A lot of otherwise bright net-citizens get their jollies by dropping a semantically-loaded comment into a newsgroup, chat room, or mailing list and then sitting back and watching the chaos. Like shouting "fire" in a crowded theater, or tossing a stink bomb into a church. Perhaps it amuses them to see all these people reacting to their inflammatory comments. At any rate, the new members of any list are likely to encounter one of these bozos for the first time and react in a manner which no doubt gratifies their intent. A little education would suffice; the correct response to the flamer or troller is: nothing. Once they see they're not getting a rise out of the populace, they will either flee -- or remain and, perhaps, try to figure out why they were treated differently here. That's all the opening an EDA needs to entice another potential EDA, right? :-) Let's keep practicing being angels every day in every way [(c) 1997 Crunch] and let the boors and creeps find their own level somewhere else -- or maybe welcome them when they've decided to raise their conversational abilities a bit, eh? We need more people like you to keep the balance on the list. Many of us don't agree with those who react with anger. It's up to us to stay and radiate positivity so that the negative ones don't succeed in dominating the list. For every one loud mouth flamer there are ten quiet list members who are here to share in Jewel's message of hope, kindness, respect and inspiration. Many of us don't condem them because, by doing so, one only gives them the attention they are seeking and it lowers oneself to their level of rudeness. I hope you stay on the list. My policy is never to respond to a negative post (here they come). I just delete it and move on. Life is too short to waste time arguing with someone who is just seeking attention and wants you to argue with them. If no one responded to them we'd have far less flame war messages to read and they'd get the picture that we just aren't interested in their egocentric compulsion to vent hostility. Let's stay positive and focus on what inspires us, which is why we are here in the first place. There is an old saying, "What you focus on grows stronger in your life." Let's see the good in each other and focus on what lifts us up rather than what drags us down. Thanks for listening.... And Steve, please reconsider....
