Everything's still on track; however, it looks like our basement will not be completely finished by May 1, so those of you wishing to find crash space on the floor will be somewhat more limited in your choices than I had hoped. We still have three medium-sized rooms plus three bedrooms to offer, and Liz + Shelly get first dibs on the beds. Keep in mind that (1) the master bedroom encloses the master bathroom and (2) someone apparently felt that I earned my nickname "the naked guy". However, there are 1-1/2 baths available elsewhere in the house. The band will be in attendance for a large part of Friday + Saturday; you are guaranteed one free concert (donations accepted :-) and are welcome to attend the pay concert at the Emerson Theater to watch me foul up yet another live recording. Depending on a variety of things, you may get a couple of unplugged sets from 1/2 the band as well. Toni begs musically-inclined people to bring instruments and jam along. We have two spare electric basses and two electric guitars in addition to a spare acoustic, available for temporary use. Tapes will probably be rolling all weekend; I have a pair of cassette decks and a pair of DATs, but our VCRs are in poor shape. Bring whatever you think you need. It's not too late to reserve a pallet on the floor; Email me and tell me when you're arriving. Oh, and one last thing: my wife Linda is paranoid that a bunch of axe-wielding barbarians are going to arrive and leave a pile of smoking rubble in their wake. I have tried to reassure her that the likelihood of *both* Dennis Harris and Mike Connell showing up are remote, but she continues to fret. It would be a very EDA-like thing to do (not to mention it would shock hell out of her) if anyone who (1) is planning to attend or (2) interested in maintaining my domestic tranquility would kindly mail her at and soothe her taut nerves. I've been to JewelStock and LizStock, and have observed the civilized behavior of the EDA community, but she hasn't. If you'd take a moment and reassure her, I'd be grateful. Here's a little (well, maybe not so little) anecdote from the Rugburns at the Casbah: Sunday night at Hotdog Fest Stinky, John, and Shelly were playing with the Ouija board. They decided to contact one of Stinky's musical inspirations, Cab Calloway. Well after several unsuccessful attempts they did reach what appeared to be Cab's spirit. The spirit kept moving the oracle to say "Zazazazazaza" like it was scatting. After letting Cab have his fun, I asked him what he liked to drink. The Ouija oracle spelled out "Gin." I then asked Cab if he'd like us to buy him a shot of gin next time we were at a bar, and he pointed to YES. Stinky asked what brand of gin he wanted, but Cab didn't seem to care. The next week, the Rugburns played the Casbah and I decided to buy Cab his gin. I walked up to the bartender and ordered a shot of gin and the bartender said, "A shot of gin? I like this guy!" I told him it was for Cab Calloway and he responded, "But he's dead!" Then I told the bartender about the Ouija board at Hotdog Fest, and he poured two shots of gin. As he slammed one down himself he said, "Well here's to Cab Calloway then!" I payed for the drink and tipped the bartender then brought the glass onstage next to Stinky's monitor. I told Stinky about the shot of gin, and he noticed it sitting there and smiled. Well later in the show, Steve went on his rampage. Any glass he could find he picked up and threw on the stage. He threw his empty shot glasses on the stage, and even balanced one on his head. He grabbed what was left of his beer and threw it on the stage, splashing beer everywhere. He grabbed John's beer and threw it to the ground. He grabbed a full shot of whiskey and tossed it on the floor. He ever grabbed Shelly's almost full beer sitting right in front of her and spilled it everywhere. Then Steve noticed the shot of gin sitting on stage next to Stinky's monitor. Not knowing it was for Cab, he picked it up, looked at it, and threw it to the ground. Amazingly, no gin spilled anywhere...the glass was empty! I still have no idea how the gin left the shot glass, it was safe next to Stinky's monitor since no one went near there, and I saw it after Stinky had gotten up and walked around drumming on everything and the gin was still in the glass. I guess there must be an explanation as to where the gin went, but I don't know it...and really don't want to hear it. I'm perfectly happy just thinking that the spirit of Cab Calloway was at the Rugburns concert that night and I'm sure he had a great time! And just to be safe, you can bet there'll be another shot of gin onstage for Cab at their LA and Ventura shows, compliments of Sinjin. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Apr 1997 00:15:32 -0500 From: jdfree@students.wisc.edu (Joshua Free) Subject: Re: birthday idea >Maybe I think too much, but how about a angel wing shaped guitar pick or >a guitar pick with an angel logo on it. Since I am the Green Team Rep. for my Starbucks, I will be taking a ton of fellow environmentally-conscience partners and myself to a local AIDS house and get down and dirty with yard work, planting trees and flowers and cleaning up trash around the area. We are helping out with two important causes: AIDS and Earth. :) Angel Day: I agree with whoever said that every day we should strive to be angelic and kindred of spirit and also think that it would be nice just to set aside a day to acknowedge this, just like I am always thinking of the environment but do something extra special on Earth Day. I believe that you can make it an ::official:: day in the U.S. by contacting your state Rep. and asking for him to petition for the day to be legally passed. It is very easy to do this -- i.e. -- TV Nation got a TV Nation Day official as a joke to show how easy it is to do. My thoughts on Jewel's birthday are that I like the Angel Day idea but I think that we should do something a little more focussed and meaningful like the charity idea. And about the money thing, money "manifests" itself always and even if only $1 is donated it is still $1 more to help out the charity. Peace and inner health. There is no magic or spirits involved. Since there are always 2 or more people touching the pointer at once, there will always be someone subconsciously moving the pointer and probably not even realizing it. For example, when they asked Cab Calloway what he liked to drink, someone was thinking of gin, and moved it to the g, once it was onthe g, everyone was thinking of gin and helped subconsciously move the pointer to the i and n, without realizing it. That's how it works. Jon ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 15 Apr 1997 15:08:59 -0700 From: davester Subject: NJC- Sorry... Hey kiddies... Yes, you are getting, via email, yet another poem from me. I wrote this one on Sunday night. Tell me what you think...and I mean, as usual, be *BRUTALLY HONEST*...I doubt this is any good, so feel free to bash it all you want...I live for your feedback =) love you all stephanie heaven by Stephanie Maria Kartalopoulos today was a day that hsould not, that will not, ever be forgotten. her visitor was so unexpected- so random. "Come with me. Your future awaits you." with puppy dog eyes a longing soul and a confused mind she follows, she lets him guide her soon she is flying looking down on her world, whizzing past the houses of people who had hurt her, soaring beyond the plces of her worst memories circling the moon of her lost hope forgetting the sun which abandoned her now her only companions are her precious stars which have guided her through many lonely nights. as she spins round and round spiraling downwards she doesn't worry, it seems so natural, as if she has donw this many times before. her eyes close and her body lays still as she falls into deep slumber resting on a bed of clouds when she wakes she is floating on her bed, down a deep purple river until she is carried off by little blue people who only know happiness and joy here she laughs as never before, here her soul soars, dances, sings here she speaks with love in her voice unlike the sorrow that consumes her on any other day. she says she has been here many times before, but only in her reams today, she dreams not- today she is here, mind, body, soul- today, she says she will never again leave today she is in heaven. (the end) remember..brutally honest feedback, guys... thanks stephani ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Apr 1997 18:15:43 -0400 From: Kris Kane Subject: Re: EDA pick jewel bday idea I third the motion. How about if we find a EDA who has a great angel drawn by Jewel (like when she signs autographs) that we could have printed on one side of the picks and have "Everyday Angels" printed on the other side? And maybe someone could find out from Lenedra (or Hiranya) what type of pick Jewel prefers. Kris *************************************************************** >I second that motion!!!
