The rest of the page has stayed pretty much the same. First let me just say that this past week and a half, I attempted to climb out of my everyday toilet bowl of a life, dragging my wife and kids along for the hike. Just as we reached our summit, known as the dry, yet cool toilet bowl rim, we were attacked by the Swirley-God and immediately returned via a counter-clockwise whirlpool of waste, back to the den of our iniquity. In other words, things did not turn out as planned... We arrived in LA after a great flying experience, the first for both of my kids, around 3pm last Wednesday. We immediately got in touch with Larry, Great God of Generosity, just as he, Liz, Shelly, & Tegan were leaving for the Wiltern soundcheck. We were graciously given the run of the Greenfield Estate until later that evening so that we might freshen up a bit before the show. We proceeded to the Wiltern via a short-cut through Little Korea where we of course partook(is this a word?) of that great Korean delicacy Kentucky Fried Chicken-san. We were met by Tom, Nancy, their daughters (I'm sorry the names escape me at this the 5am hour of Saturday), Shelly, Liz, & Tegan. A notable absentee was our holiness himself 'Larry the Conquistador' who had somehow managed to get in for the soundcheck (Alone I might add...) After rejoining us, Larry proceeded to produce 4 tickets to the show for us, 'We're not worthy...', while only charging us for two! (Have I mentioned yet we have started a new religion called 'Followers of Sir Lawrence'???) I'm sure the membership will increase daily, as more lives are touched by this wonderful human being we affectionately just call Larry. (Those of you that know him truly understand this whimsical, yet truthful description - and seriously THANKS LARRY FOR EVERYTHING!!!) Continuing on.... The show started out on a bad note for my son and I, as the ushers mis-seated us 4 times during the Rugburns, finally pushing me to seek management, as we completely missed the last three songs of the set. With this setback out of the way, we were then confronted by an absolutely awesome performace by 'Jewel and the Gang' (sorry I had to do that!) I won't describe the show any further, as I could not add anything of importance to the previous posts about it. After the show we crashed at our gracious host's abode (He actually gave us his own bedroom knowing he had to work that morning; see what I mean???!!!) We then parted company with everyone as we left to take-on Universal Studios, Disneyland, the Ducks, the Dodgers, & the Angels before meeting with everyone at HDF '97. All was going well until Sunday morning in San Diego; that's when everything really hit the perverbial fan. What ensued could have never been forseen. On Sunday morning we stopped at Denny's; we were in route to the long awaited HDF '97. We were doubly excited, since we had the astute pleasure of meeting Tom and Nancy a few days before, as I mentioned earlier. I had even brought the tapes of my band for all to hear (I know finally Tom says). I'm pretty proud of the three songs I wrote and performed so I was anxious to get some feedback (that would either launch or ruin my singing aspirations - because EDA's are of course, true music efficienados). After breakfast we left the restaurant in high spirits, only to find our car doors open and many of our personal posessions stolen. This included our airline tickets, all 20 rolls of film taken the past week, some cash, our traveler's checks, the camera, most of the kids clothes, my cell phone, pager, and the list goes on and on. The rest of the day was spent filling out police reports, trying to replace our airline tickets and travelers checks (which were not replaced until Tuesday afternoon forcing us to stay until 11pm that night), and trying to scrape enough dough together for the hotel and food. Luckily we had our wallets on us, so this was possible without too much trouble. Not until that night did the initial shock begin to wear off. For those of you who haven't been through this, I hope you never have to. I was never touched nor harassed, but I still felt personally violated as did Jacquie. The kids, Larry love em' (God was busy with more important things), didn't even seem to notice until they realized all of the pictures taken would be lost. In closing (yes it's almost over - thank you for making it this far...) I want to apologize for not calling anyone to say we were alive, but we were so wrapped up in the moment that it honestly slipped our minds until we almost fell into our beds that night at the ever-so-popular Super8 motel. But even as we talked that night, we were glad that we hadn't panicked and called, because we knew that if we did some of you would have automatically tried to help; that's just the kind of people EDA's are. We were fine and we had each other. Besides, if that had happened, we couldn't have relived it now through these wonderfully entertaining recaps!!! All was not lost as we spent the next two days (while not fighting with the airline agents) just relaxing on the beach trying to forget the bad and reminisce about how lucky we were to not be hurt and thankful for the previous days in LA. It was the LA experiences with our EDA family that help us remain positive throughout the whole ordeal. Well that's it! Let me again thank Larry, Tom & Nancy for opening their homes to us and for simply issuing us the inventation to to be apart of everything in the first place. Had you not have asked, we may have never risked such a trip in the first place. If that had been the case it would have truly been a great loss for us; all problems aside. THANKS EVERYONE!!!! Until the next road trip (London here we come???) The place was packed and she played for a long time. Then we went to the back office of the place...it was really dark but we knew she was going to come out there, so we waited. EDA's were everywhere and I forgot my blue ribbon and was depressed. There were some EDA's playing covers of Jewel's songs on a little stage outside the place. So we waited, and finally she came out, in a hurry. But she stopped at us and introduced herself as I stood there with my jaw on the ground. She asked us our names and then gave us hugs. (Just before I fainted) she said she recongnized my name and asked me if I had ever written her a letter. I said that I had, and she pulled it out of one of her bags (what is the chance of this happening! :-) But, that's why it was a dream.) Then I told her that if she needed a sound guy my friend was really good. So she said that we could both tour with her. My friend could be her sound guy and I could help write lyrics and sing; because I guess I sent her a poem and a song and she liked them, and she new I used to be in the singer in a band (omniscience is great). Flea was there and I gave him drity looks because I thought he was trying to scam on Jewel. Then I woke up. Do you know what kind of sleep this kind of dream can produce?? I don't ever need to sleep again! Dreams rock! So, now I'm going to write to Jewel and send her a poem and a song and the rest will be history! Think I'm crazy?!? I don't care, I WILL meet her...that's why I'm jealous of many of you, because you have met her. Was just wondering if old posts to the list are available anywhere, in an archive of something like that? If so, how far back do they go? And where on the net can these old posts be found? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot. Big Blue, and the other custom blue guitar from the YWMFM video. I THINK he's from Santa Monica or somewhere around there. The other acoustic I think is a Taylor. Well, while interface manipulation is built into Windows, there are a couple of extensions that do similar things to the mac. I'm working on Jewel versions of the extensions tonight. I'll post more about it tomorrow. She's a South Carolina artist I believe and has 2 albums out on two different indie labels (one of which is a live album). Jenny Bruce: I was recently introduced to her by another tape trader. She is a NYC artist and supposedly will be releasing an album in a couple years. Right now she has some sort of promo tape out. Her music is kinda like a mix between Sarah McLachlan/Tracy Chapman. It's not bad, and if I lived in NYC, I try very hard to see her. W. They showed like a 5 second clip of her watching the show from the side of the stage. She looked right at the camera but gave a blank look and turned back to watch the show. I assume she did some songs with them. I couldn't go 'cause I had to work. I am watching Batman Returns but it lost it's good movieness after the first couple dozen times I saw it. My sister left to go to Wisconsin(it's only about 25 min away) to try to get her tounge pierced. In Wisconsin you don't have to be 18 but she is not sure if they will do it. If she gets it done though she can tell me how you eat with ne of those things. I am waiting for Spice Girls on SNL hopping they suck-I heard that it is there first live performance actually singing- I hate them. An if you listen to the words of that one popular song they it doesn't make any sense. During my boredness I found this poem that I wrote a few months ago-it sounds nothing like me and is just so different then everything else I have written-I think this was also written in composition class on a day I din't like my life I trip and stutter and a glass falls from my hand as it hits the floor it breaks into a million peices I look down and think of how it reminds me of my life broken I then bend down to try to put the peices back together but I cut my finger and as the blood trickles on the floor I think of death and of how your life starts out so smooth and clean and ends up so broken and stained -CW ~*Chrissy*~ *************************************************I want a Golden Ticket daddy and I want it now.
