I've been on the EDA digest list for a couple months now, but just now I've decided to write. I figure that's pretty good, since I've been on the internet for about six months, and I just discovered that my internet provider gave a directory for home pages. Well, I included a moderate portion about Jewel. It will be more as I get more experienced, and i begin to have more resoures. If any of you want to check it out, and give me comments about how you think the Jewel part should be, the address is: http://personal.netwrx.net/trujillo/ I will split it up with an "only Jewel" page as soon as I have more free time. By the way, ever since my friend let me borrow POY, I've been listening to it a lot, and thanks to the internet, I've also heard a lot other great songs that she has writen. I'm glad the she gets so much response. Its a sign that people want to hear music that matters.I write songs, and I know how hard it is to say something meaningful, and have people listen and get the message. For Paul Leedham: I might be moving to BC, but I probably won't be able to catch the show :( Happy BD, by the way. Thanks for listening everybody. Your fellow EDA A.J. I do love you. bare with me, I don't know how to post. :) I too went to the Denver show on the 25th. After driving an hour to get to Denver, I drove around another 45 trying to figure out where I was supposed to meet up with Chels and Jared. Eventually, after my 27th time around the block, I spot them, roll down my window screaming at them, preceeded to park my car, and meet Jared for the first time and Chels and Co. for the second. After I got hugs from all of them, we went looking for a place to eat. Well, isn't it ironic, we eat at The Paramount Cafe, (going to see the show at the Paramount Theatre). So after we eat, run all over town to get jackets, escape from a homless crackpot, take cameras back to the car, we finally make it into the theatre. We find our seats and I prepare myself for something I have been waiting over a year to see....The Rugburns. The Skinny heroine addict, the vegan, and the psycho definitly fulfilled all my fantasies. The set was about 35 mins. I was hoping for an all nighter, but oh well, sometimes it be that way. Rugburns exit stage right...Chels, Jared, and my self exit and attempt to locate the boys. We had a few words with all three. (my highlight, got hugs and shared love with all of them, even though I thought Stinky was going to bite me.) We headed back in to see Jewel. The guys came out to play on several tunes, and the amazing John Hagen accompanied Jewel on several songs. (Chels, Jared, and Aaron posted set list) She did sing the new Nikos and some other great songs which I had never heard. ( Oh, The Rugburns did improve a song about Denver and skiing at A-basin, needless to say, I laughed my @ss off). After the show, with a big thanks to Chels and Co. we find our selfs back stage. I took a quick minute to give praise to John Hagen, he was a really nice guy, then we awaited to meet Jewel. Well she was swell ;-) Angel of course. She spoke with the several people that awaited her, signed a few things, posed for pictures and sweetly made her exit. I did get a hug, so it's official I shared love with Jewel, Steve, John, Stinky, Jared, and Chels and Co. Only 857 EDA's left to share my love with. Well I rushed home at 95 mph, cause I had a class at 8am next morning, avoided all police and basically had a lovely evening. Thank you so much Chels. Jared, pleasure meeting you. I love everyone and you too, Jen :) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Mar 1997 09:13:45 -0800 From: Mudgirl Subject: I think this is neat This is only my second day on the mailing list, and i may never know when this will be posted right? Well i was reading these wonderful emails that i got, and i was thinking. I **LOVE** the song "you were meant for me". When i moved to Winnipeg my boyfriend and i, on our last night together, listing to the Jewel cd. I thought that was the kewlest song on the cd, and he said that will be our song forever. That song now has heartfelt meaning, and i love the fact that it has finally gained the repsect that it deserves. I love Jewel, she has been an influence on my own poetry. Quick little , quick little... okay, quit it Rachel, you're taking up valuable time and space. I wanted to REMIND all EDAs that are on AOL or have access to it that the EDAs have a chat every thursday night. Yes, that's right ! We sit around and talk about close-to-nothing for hours ! Officially the chat starts at 10, but people usually show up a lot earlier- and then leave for an hour to watch ER, so it's usually booming around 11. Go to private room: everyday angels. I'll try this cool AOL thing that probably won't work, but if you see this everyday angels <------ in blue and underlined, you can click on it and get into the room :). Otherwise, just do it the regular way. The other thing I ask isn't a biggie either. I'm pretty big on looking at people's profiles, and I actually founda lot of EDAs by doing a member search for "EDA" in profiles. However, I know thre's a TOn more of us on here, so I wanted to propose something... could all of us that are on AOL put "EDA" or "Everyday Angel" in their profile ? I think it'd be great- that way, we might just randomly meet up somewhere in a chat room and have something in common :). See you guys tonight !! Subject: REVIEW/CABLE: Jewel Kicks Off MTV's 'Hard Rock' Special REVIEW/CABLE: Jewel Kicks Off MTV's 'Hard Rock' Special Hard Rock Live (Sun. (30), 8-9 p.m., VH1) By Phil Gallo HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - The new performance series from Robert Small, creator of Unplugged for MTV, begins with an engaging hour from million-selling pop-folkie Jewel. The show has all the textures of Unplugged-- more chatting than usual, nonstop camera action of pans, zooms and dolly shots that resolve in closeups -- and adds some black-and-white backstage footage. Appeal will depend solely on the artists. Jewel, the 21-year-old Alaska-to-San Diego transplant who began performing with her parents just out of the toddler stage, wisely uses her show to perform four songs that don't appear on her triple-platinum Atlantic debut Pieces of You. While her 10-song set confirms her young, gifted and beach-bum image -- her social, personal and spiritual reflections all connect to the oceanfront life and traveling to and from surfing sites -- she adds to her vagabond charm by yodeling with dad and dueting a cappella with mom on Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. She's in good voice throughout -- performances of the hits Who Will Save Your Soul and You Were Meant for Me are full of spark -- and the camera clearly loves the doll-faced singer. Backstage chitchat with Paula Cole seems forced; onstage comments capture the giddiness of a youngster freshly acquainted with the prizes of fame. Hard Rock Live, part of the MTV networks' newly re-emphasized music programming, has a varied lineup of double bills over the next half-dozen Sundays, among the performers are Simply Red, Shawn Colvin, Robert Palmer, Lou Reed, John Hiatt and the Lemonheads, each of whom should be able to deliver more the type of commentary or reflection that could make this program stand out. In the first segment, Hard Rock Cafe plugs love letters from Sid Vicious, Freddie Mercury and jazz man Charlie Parker on display at various restaurants. Performer: Jewel. Taped in New York by Robert Small Entertainment, VH1, Hard Rock Cafe, Pontiac and Warner Bros. Pay TV, Cable & Network Features. Executive producers, Robert Small, Jim Berk, Eric Frankel; producer, Karen Ferlito; co-producer, John Schreiber; director, Linda Kahle; production and lighting designer, David Goodman; editor, Sean Fullan. no sound credit. (Sorry to be so blunt). I believe the veterans when they say this list used to consist of posts that were alot more caring, considerate, etc. of other people, but lately half of what is being posted it seems to be negative. I'm sure everyone knows the adage "If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all." It seems that this list would be a whole better if this was followed. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for constructive criticism, but if you're going to complain, do it privately and in a manner that is consistent with the title EDA. I've rambled on for long enough now...
