[Gregory Willms Subject: Hot Dog Fest Fellow weiners, Hot Dog Day is coming soon. One thing we need for all of you to do even if you have emailed us before is to take a second and post to let us get a head count on how much food and buns to pick up. We will also have yummy salads for the vegetarians. Festivities start at 10:00 A.M., Sunday, April 6th. Of course if you need a place to stay for the concerts prior to this we can handle a few of you. Right now it looks as if 10-15 of you will be crashing at Larry's during the L.A. concerts. Now for directions. It will be easy for you to find. We are in Dana Point, 60-70 minutes from San Diego or Los Angeles. If you're driving or flying in all you really have to do is find the 5 or 405 freeway south from L.A. From S.D. you take the 805 to the 5 north. Dana Point is south of Laguna Beach and north of San Clemente and west of San Juan Capistrano. So when you see these names look for the Beach Cities Exit and follow it(at this time the long freeway offramp turns into the Pacific Coast Highway) to Dana Point, passed the harbor, and a mile or two. Six signals and you will turn left on to Violet Lantern. Follow Violet Lantern to its end and you can only go left on to El Camino Capistrano. Three houses down on the bluff side is our house. A spanish style house with blue trim. 24642 El Camino Capistrano Dana Point, CA 714 443-3623 Hope to see you all. I think you said it all, all the things anybody wanted to say about Jewel, all in that post. That was special........... I think its time for me to dream.... You know, I've been on this list less than a week, and while I love having a forum to discuss things with fellow Jewel fans, I have noticed that some people on this list have a bit of a superior attitude in relation to others. Being a newbie, I sometimes get the impression that right now, I am considered somewhat low on the hierarchy of things, and thus, have to earn my wings. Now, if somebody can't post a message to the list detailing how much he or she loves being an EDA without getting flamed, that is wrong. I for one thought that your post was extremely sweet. However, I also realize that a lot of the EDA's feel an extremely close connection to Jewel. That is excellent. Unfortunately, it might make people a little overzealous, but I guess that is a small price to pay for having a list based on mutual love, admiration and respect. I plan to make this list home for a long time to come, and it is beautiful souls such as yourself that make me want to be an EDA. Please Ashley, don't let this ugly incident get you down. Continue posting to the list, and remember, you'll always have a friend in me. Take Care. Your Fellow EDA Paul Leedham ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Mar 1997 00:40:19 -0500 From: jonny22@webtv.net (Jon Miller) Subject: goose bumps Here's a semi-interesting story. Yesterday I had a calculus exam at 5:30, so I set off on the 25 minute drive to URI, with Jewel in my CD player of course. Now I had woken up at 6:30 that morning after only 4 hours of sleep, and I was quite tired. I was afaid I might fall asleep, get in an accident and have Jewel sing Adrian part II about me, if you know what I mean. So I opened the window, hoping the cold air rushing in would keep me awake. After a few minutes, Foolish Games, my favorite Jewel song, came on and I felt goosebumps tingling all over my body. I don't know if it was the song or the cold air, but I couldn't help but wonder. By the way I managed to stay awake long enough to take my math exam, then drive a half hour to my volleyball championship game which we won. Not a bad evening, and as usual Jewel helped me through it. BTW, I would like to publicly forgive Greg for his auction. I really don't think he intended to do it in the first place, but when there was the overwhelming response, he didn't want to be unfair so an auction was the only thing he could think of. While it is definitely wrong to make a personal profit off of Jewel, I don't think Greg meant anything wrong. It looks like he's going to work out a trade and isn't going to auction it anyway. I was=A0also disappointed at all of the insulting that went on rather than constructive criticism. When I checked my mail this afternoon, about 80% of the messages I had were insults and personal attacks. I hope cooler heads prevail and tomorrow I can read some of the kind of mail that made me want to join this list in the first place.
