IMHO, there has been far too much discussion on this list lately regarding criticism and judgement of Jewel's physique and features. These threads should disappoint any true Jewel fan, but I guess it's gonna happen in a culture as shallow as ours. Unfortunately, for many it's so shallow that the only "deep water" to be found is when they stand on their heads, or lie face down in it. If Jewel wears saran wrap to a national awards show, fine, post and discuss. That relates to her marketing and judgement. But to dwell on her breasts for weeks afterwards indicates a definite lacking of "weaning" in your formative years! And dammit, that wiggly tooth (tm) is the flaw that keeps this angel somewhat tethered to us earthly folk. If you want a Barbie doll, look at 99% of the remaining entertainment industry "stars" (yawn) or continue to enjoy your heavily airbrushed magazines (held aloft with one hand, of course)... Remember, a flawed jewel is a "genuine diamond", a flawless one a "cubic zirconium" (available on QVC 24 hours a day, call now and get one free with any purchase!)... I challenge ANYONE who wants to make such an shallow post in the future to first provide THEIR picture (a profile -- let's see YOUR model figure) and dental records for our amusement. Otherwise, please do us all a favor and keep it off the list! * sheesh * I believe it was Edgar Allan Poe who once said something along the lines of "without oddness of proportion, there is no beauty." (you educated types please correct me on this) I hope Jewel never cosmetically alters her appearance -- she's a beauty, talent-wise and spiritually. Oh, and looks-wise? Not hard on the eyes at all. "Our Own Private God's Gift to Men", if you ask me! Angels, judge folks on their behavior and actions, not their physical nature. Trust me, that alone will keep you busy enough... If you want a >Barbie doll, look at 99% of the remaining entertainment industry "stars" >(yawn) or continue to enjoy your heavily airbrushed magazines (held aloft >with one hand, of course)... *sigh* Let me just say that I try to judge people by who they are inside and not let the appearance get in the way. That is why I love meeting people in the internet. That lets me get to know the person before I see them so that my own superficiality get in the way. But something I fell is that if you start to love someone for WHO they are inside you start to find them attractive on the outside too. It was like this with one friend of mine. I had seen her years before we became friends (she had been in one of my classes in high school about 2 years before). I never really found her attractive back then. Then we became friends and I found her to be a truely great person. Then one day I looked at her and just thought "Wow. She is very beautiful." I fall in love with a person because of WHO they are and then just let the pysical add to that. I think we all know that Jewel has a inner beauty that shines far brighter then her (to quote myself) "perfectly imperfect" shell. Still, we do see that the shell is also very beautiful and can't help but mention that too. As far as the other 99% of the entertainment biz go: This remindes me of a quote I found in one of my quote books (I love those things :]) that goes like this: "In Hollywood, the women are all peaches. It makes one long for an apple occasionally." (-Somerset Maugham). - -Ashe Mayfair ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Mar 1997 20:41:08 -0700 From: ehicks@flash.net Subject: vh1 yeah!!!!!! Luv, Laura ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Mar 1997 19:36:13 -0600 From: neile@sff.net (Neile Graham) Subject: Rare Angels and Radio Angels Hi, all-- Not being on the Jewel list anymore I don't know if there have been recent queries about the availability of these tapes or not, but I thought I would follow Mike Connell's example and post some information about them. What are Rare and Radio Angels? They are tapes made shortly after the release of _Pieces of You_ to make available some of Jewel's best limited edition recordings and radio appearances, including, respectively, the material from _Save The Linoleum_ & _Shiva Diva Do Wop_ and from _Phyllis Barnabee_ & Acoustic Cafe. These tapes were available for nearly a year to anyone who asked. However, since the list has grown so large it became impractical for the original group of people involved in the tape to continue to make them continually available, and we stopped making copies last year. So why am I mentioning this information? Because I'm sure that there are people on the list willing to make copies of either or both Rare Angels and Radio Angels, and I wanted to let anyone who is making copies of the tapes know that I still have j-cards printed up for both tapes and am willing to send copies to anyone who wants them. PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM NOT WILLING TO SEND OUT ANY MORE COPIES OF THE TAPES THEMSELVES, JUST THE LINERS. I personally spun hundreds of these and due to other commitments cannot afford the time or effort to make any more. Do send me an email, including your mailing address and the number of copies you'd like, if you're making copies of these tapes and want the J-cards. BTW, the same restrictions apply to these tapes as to the Jewelstock tapes. The tapes are only available on standard audio cassettes. You may dub copies of them for other fans but they are not to be recorded onto cd, even for your own use, nor are you welcome to sell them to anyone in any manner. They were made by fans for fans, and not for profit. - --Neile P.S. Greetings to those of you who remember me from the beginnings of this list.
