So I was thinking to myself "self, maybe some of the other stores in the area got 5 as well? Maybe I can get some for more than just the first 4 or 9 people who ask for it." I found out today that these are the leftovers from a consignment deal that we did with 91x and i guess they just got "lost" somewhere and now they have miraculously reappeared. It was a great concert...of course I was right up front! But I have a story to tell......... Engine 88, the opening band was playing. Shelly, a few of her friends and I were standing there. A man approached us and stood next to Miss Shelly. She gave him a strange look, looked to us, and was like, wow....he looks like Adam Duritz. I just sat there like no way. My mom has this problem with staring that I have unfortunately gained, so I stood and stared at this man, who was 3 feet away from me. He looked at me and smiled...I was like no, it can't be. Shelly, figuring just in case it is him, decided that she would get as close as she possibly could...which she did. She was feeling his leg and touched his shoulder, and noticed that he has a hairy back. I looked to my left, and there was another man standing there, he smiled at me and I turned my head. A few moments later, both men made there way next to the stage, and in another few moments, WENT BACKSTAGE!!! OHMIGOD!!! It was him, along with his guitar player Dan!!!!!!!!!! I was so shocked. Well, the concert did rock. Well, I'll shut up now, have a great evening!! I will see you later! In closing, here is a list of famous people who have touched my right hand: Adam Duritz Steven J. Poltz John Castro Jewel Kilcher Melissa Etheridge Patty Griffin Lenedra Carroll Bibi Bielat Austin Peck William Jefferson Clinton Matt and Dylan from Nickelodean's Fifteen Nancy Lopez Tony Rich Patty Sheehan Joan Osborne Larry Greenfield Igor W. and the list keeps on growin........... =) ~Liz...who is having an ego trip, but shelly is having a bigger one because she thinks Adam Duritz is her boyfriend....watch out, I hear Steve Poltz is her next victim I know that it sounds cliche, but I'm tired of all this violence ~Steven J. That said you can take this naritive for what it is worth. John said Wicca is a cult...I can agree and disagree with that statement. Firstly, it is a relegion because it supplies the basic needs that all relegions must, that being a creation myth and a beleif in some form of an afterlife, but secondly it is a cult due to it's size in the general scheme of things. However I submit to you that at one time Wicca's ancesters and the ancestors of all beleifs currently held where wide spread. Would that not lend valitity to Wicca's teachings? Jeffery spoke of Voodoo. Voodoo is acutually a conglomerate of ancient African (I beleive mostly west african but I am not the Voodoo scholar I shoul d be..) and Catholic teachings. Yes beleive it or not Voodoo is taken from Catholicism. It was also called Houdoo and it was most closely associated with black slaves in the South. David spoke of Wicca and said it lacked structor. Wicca is actually a world wide power, boasting several ogranizations and over 125 churches world wide. Wicca even has it's own publications...one of the best being the Green Egg...wich I suggest everyone check out. James mentioned Cerimonail magick and Wicca...sighting them both as I beleive the same thing. The are most certainly not! Cerimonial Magick is in fact an offshoot of anciant Jewish Cabalism...dateing back to the times when Jews where pagan much as the rest of the world was. If you are interested in Jewish Cabalism I would suggest the book "Eleven Lessions in the High Magickal Arts." it is a good starting place. Ashe mentioned Angels and said that they where variations on all relegions. (Or at least I think that was what she was getting at) Again this is not exactly true. In Cabalism which is the oldest relegion that acknowleges Angels...angels where merely the unthinking forces of God. Angels had no will or personality of there own...think of them like the wheels in a machine...possessing no will nor personality. Only with the birht o f christianity did Angels possess a defining personality... I hope I haveing angered anyone...but I can assure and support both historically and philosophically...all the clames I have made with this letter. I hope this has at the very least interested...if not educated some people. :) Rev. Jason Odin-Carver. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 14 Mar 1997 23:46:07 -0800 From: "Nick J. Wow! No great review here. I just wanted to say that she was every bit as good as I expected. She has such a beautiful and moving voice. I, too, thought "Adrian" was one of her best. Everything was a highlight, but my other favorite moments were "You Were Meant For Me", "I'm Sensitive" and "Chime Bells". If I was disappointed at anything it was "Foolish Games". Tough I knew she wasn't going to have a pianist, this song just begs for a piano. She did ask that we call our local radio stations to request this song as it will be the third single released. YEAH! I knew the titles of most of the songs she performed, except for a couple new ones, but I didn't keep track of the order, so no setlist from me. The group of gals I went with didn't know much about her music, other than the singles, but they all came away impressed. As for the Rugburns, they were a fun and entertaining group. As Steve was taking his jacket off near the end of their set, my 15 year old niece yells out "TAKE IT OFF". Now what does this remind you of. :-) I just had to laugh to myself after reading the Beacon reviews. It was definitely different coming from a girl saying it to a guy among noise as oppossed to a guy yelling it to Jewel when it's quiet. >Hands Manifest Thought: once, 10:38 PM EST. (I think you may have been confused by a recent post to the list that said that song may be released, and I think that posts' author was just confused from reading that "Foolish Games will be released as the next single from 'Pieces of You'", confusing the song with the CDs' title) Mike /\//\\///\\\////\\\\/////\\\\\//////\\\\\\/////\\\\\////\\\\///\\\//\\/\ \ New to the list and confused? Well, no one has flamed me, openly or privately or publicly for my last post. Those of you who did reply, I thank you for your positive support. Now that I have my thank you speech (I brought one :-)) out of the way, the reason for today's post is to ask a question that has probably been asked a million times already, but hey I'm still a tourist here, so please bear with me. Besides the obvious, Miss Jewel, I'm interested to know what other music some of you out there in EDA-land listen to? She basically said that she remembered all the little girls wanted to be Princess Laiea for Halloween. "With the hair." Can't remember if she said she was once her for Halloween. Well just thought I'd let my fellow EDA's know about this. But then again maybe it is old news. I know I said I was going to post my review of the Lakewood show the other day, but I haven't been feeling that well and the other people who were there have pretty much said everything there is to say about it. I don't really feel like posting another review, so I'll just say that it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Anyway, I'll see you all later. I have a vast range in musical tastes. I really enjoy : TOOL: one of the heaviest, but also most talented bands around. They are an amazing Band with also great lyrics. Maynard, the singer, and the rest of teh band compile all of their thoughts to make very unusual metephoric and at times disterbing songs! Highly recomended to all fans of great songs buy aenema, their newist release. If you can excuse the, at times, harsh language their a great band. check out http://toolshed.down.net BLUES TRAVELER: A great enjoyable fun band. They quite often have great lyrics, but there's a few that are just fun and pointless. If you've only heard "run-around"... try and hear some other stuff, their great. They must be one of the best live bands around, as is evidant in their release "Live from the Fall" check out http://www.bluestraveler.com PHISH: My personal favorite band! I love these 4 guys. They are the best live band around, being extremely improvisational, and are wild and outragous. When these guys get in the middle of a song live it can go on forever, as is evidant in 'Tweezer' on the cd "A live one" which is 30 minutes. GO SEE THEIR CONCERTS check out http://www.phish.net (no pun intended) And i just descovered a new band which i really enjoy called Little Sister, or Sister 7, and they are extremely unpopular adn from texas. I don't think they travel too far out of texas except for the '94 HORDE Tour. If anyone lives in Texas and have any info on this band could you please e-mail me it. thanks i also like Alanis, Joan Osborne, Rusted Root, Dave Matthews Band, Korn etc. Scott "There's no such thing as a failure who keeps trying", J.
