So, if anyone else is going, tell me! SCREAM AGAIN! I was in Copperfield's Music today, and I was buying my CDs when I suddenly looked up and almost screamed! A JEWEL POSTER!! I said "Do you ever, like, SELL your posters up on your walls?" and the guy said "no but we give them away when we take them down, which isn't often" and my mom whispered to me "you mean the sheryl crow one?" (which must have been absolutley ancient, because it was advertising her "new release" of Tuesday Night Music Club! =->) and I whispered back "No, the Jewel one next to it" and she said "Oh! It's from the CD" and the guy gave me this big smile and said "come back soon!" so I'll have to go back there OFTEN!!! Well, to everyone, to share a Jeweley day... In the new Rolling Stone (Brad Pitt on cover) on page 27, is a picture of a rather punkish looking Sarah with her fist raised and the caption "Sarah McLachlan thinks big" and the first item of their Grapevine reads: I am Woman, Hear Me Rock. Sarah McLachlan has lined up a venerable who's who of female talent for her Lilith Fair Festival this summer. Each show will have a main stage and a "coffeehouse" stage, with several acts apiece. McLachlan, whose new album is out in June, will appear on all dates of the 35-city tour, which kicks off July 4, in Vancouver, with the following artists set to appear on a rotating basis: Natalie Merchant, Jewel, Sheryl Crow, Joan Osborne, Suzanne Vega, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Emmylou Harris, the Cardigans, Juliana Hatfield, Lisa Loeb, Aimee Mann and Neneh Cherry. Still considering the offer are Sinead O'Connor and Shawn Colvin. A percentage of each ticket sale will go to local women's charities. Also, a bit on Duncan Sheik on the back page, and gorgeous photos of Brad Pitt, and for those who care, BBC, a record store in Lancaster, PA has its top 10 Alternative Albums in, including Suddenly, Tammy!'s We Get There When We Do and Mary Lou Lord's Martian Saints - all in all, a cool issue, worth checking out. :) Rachel "now I try to teach naivete to kids brought up on TV..." -- mary lou lord, "cinderella backstreet" ------------------------------ Date: 2/8/1997 0:7 From: Thomas Carney Subject: NJC: RUSH I am still fairly new here, but I have a few non-Jewel related questions. I was wondering if any EDA's listen to the band called RUSH? Now I am not talking about there recent stuff, but older (late 70's). I just think they were very interesting, and there lyrics are more than just words put together. They are the only other band that I know of that has written meaningful lyrics. Granted some of their songs are fun songs, but others are deep. Another question, Are there any Utopian believing EDA's? Also do any fellow EDA's ever chat on the site http://www.wbs.net Ever think of creating a private room for EDA's there? Not only that, but for all you Poltzrageists, Steve not only gets acknowledged "for inspiration and for still being 3" in the liner notes of Elizabeth's 1995 disc "The Cauldron", but actually appears on the third track, Goodwill Store, providing "boy harmony and subsonic humping sounds", which are, admittedly, unidentifiable as his, IMHO. WooHoo! While the location could be better, it could be worse. Off Broadway would be spectacular for this show (Cheryl Wheeler was fabulous there last week - don't miss her if you get the chance. My cheeks have finally relinquished the smile they wore throughout most of the show) - a richer, warmer sound system than any other I've found around here (unlike the Hi-Pointe which is geared towards cranking out 120db and relying on the alcohol to make it sound good ;) ). bob "Its like cat graffiti, but they read it with their nose and it's written from the other end" -Cheryl Wheeler ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Mar 1997 21:28:38 -0800 (PST) From: Julie Bristol Subject: NJC: Singing in the rain Just a warning, this definitely has no Jewel content, but I need help and I need it bad. I was anxious for her to come on. When she finally did I was soooooo happy. I was singing and danncing to YWMFM. My husband told me afterwards that YWMFM was a remake of a Loggins and Messina song. is that true??? I told him it was not true. I told him a zillion times "look at her. isn't she beautiful? and wonderful? doesn't she just melt you??" Him and I don't agree on much in music.
