I have made reservations for 5:00 in the name of Campbell for 20 people - I have til Sunday to make adjustments to this or it could interfere with their other reservations. We have the option to go with a limited menu they use for large groups, but it is $30 plus tax and 18% gratuity added to the bill (it is very limited and includes an appetizer and an entree), so I figured we'd stick with the regular menu since we should have plenty of time. I understand that two tape trees were run last year and I really would like to get copies. I am willing to trade for blanks or cash. Can someone help out a newbie? Also, if anyone knows where I can get promo 6605 and 6496 (both ywmfm) please tell me. Thanks a lot. Keep up the good work...this is a great list. Great song isn't it? My favorite is I'm Not Easily Scared, and then of course the ABC song. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Feb 1997 20:49:32 -0800 From: Victor Igor Wasylczenko Subject: NJC:Postcard from Toledo - Igor meets Selena Writing this is almost painful. Recalling the facts is terrifying. For those of you that don't know, Selena has been stalking me for months. Ever since I gave her the endearing title of "The Golden Goddess." Recently she went public asking EDAs to tell her anything they knew about me. She was determined to use any means, she even tried to bribe my friend Larry. Tom and Nancy held back the only known photo of me. Sinjin was the only one that weakened. It was her irresistible charm. More like a snake charmer. For more proof, just look at what happened to Dennis Harris. He is only the shell of the man he use to be. How many posts have you seen from him lately? Even Sean Hooks hasn't been the same. Many people at the party were commenting how nice of a person he's turned into. Well I always knew that, but Selena somehow took away the fire in his posts. Liz prepared me by showing me some pictures of Barry in a red dress. She is even capable of forcing her husband to cross-dress. If I had told anyone I was coming she would have been ready for me. This way I had the upper hand. The phone rang and it was the party van calling to tell us they were near. They wanted us all to wait outside for it to arrive. I changed into my disguise. I put on my red flowered clamdigger bathing suit and a large green Hawaiian shirt. The ground was covered with snow and a light snow was falling. She would think I was a crazy man standing in the snow in my bathing suit. And you know how most people are afraid of someone that is crazy. Suddenly the party van was in view. As it came to a stop, the van kept rocking violently from side to side. She must have had everyone tied down for the ride and now they were free to stand up for the first time after the long ride. I could see the maiden of torture sitting in the front passenger seat. All the other eight passengers were squashed in the rear in space enough for five. You never heard anyone else refer to the vehicle as "the party van". Everyone poured out of the van and a group EDA hugging ritual started. Everyone except the blonde tempest, she remained perched in her throne. I carefully approached with Larry leading the way. No longer was I going to wake up in a cold sweat. I was about to face my demon. There she was just yards away. She was absolutly beautiful. Her wavy and curly blonde hair gave her a look of Medusa. To keep her spell from overwelming me, I kept from giving her direct eye contact. "Hi, I'm Larry" as he dared to introduce himself. "Do you know who this is". I'm Moe and we're looking for Curly, I said. It didn't fool her. She screached out "Igor!!!". Next, she started having rapid eye movement. I was ready for anything. She leaped towards me like an olympic long jumper. My legs were braced and I held on. She had me around the neck and I had her firmly around the waist. My main concern were her powerful knees. She has developed extrodinary knees from years of working as a carpet installer. You probably have seen how they get on all fours and use their knees to kick at a tool that tightens the carpet. I was warned to do my best and not let her get on top of me because it would be all over in seconds. She is known to pound her opponent with her knees as if she was using that kicker tool. Next she tried to dig her teeth into my neck. In defense, I matched her move with my own attack at the neck. But then something came over me as I held her so firmly. She smelled so good. It was that smell of a dentist office. They use sothing odors to calm you just before they drill you. Instead of sinking my teeth into her neck, I gave her a gentle kiss. Her knees and grip became weak. She looked me right in the eye and I felt as if I was going into a trance. Quickly I let go of her and went on to meet the others in the van. So if any of you are ever confronted by Selena, just kiss her on the neck. I think it must be a special weak spot that makes her knees go numb. All day as I walked around in the house, I wisely kept my back to the wall and my eyes on her every move. That night everyone went to sleep on the varies beds, chairs, coaches, or simply camped on the floor in sleeping bags. Not me. I snuck out to the van with my sleeping bag. It was a good time for me to do an inspection. Selena has been reading. I found a copy of Tropic of Cancer tucked under her seat. It had all the good parts highlighted with yellow marker. By this time I was getting really tired from all the tension and fell asleep in the van as the gentle snow covered it. Just before sunrise I heard someone playing with the door trying to get in. It was Barry. "Did you sleep in here? What are you crazy, its 20 degrees outside. You should have at least closed the window." So much more happened but I'll save it for another postcard. Wish you were here! Igor P.S. Selena, Thank you for all the wonderful letters that have made me laugh and feel and cry and understand. Thanks to your good sense of humor, I once again am able to make a fool of my self on the list. You are even more beautiful than anyone has described. Next time don't be so quit. See, I don't bite. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Feb 1997 20:53:45 -0500 From: Callie Subject: "New Artist" Hey, all... I know it really sucks that Jewel is regarded as a new artist considering the fact that she's toiled within the industry for a rather long time but I think that the reason she's nominated under that category is that "new" artist is when one album brings an artist to a mass commerical audience... and the biggest selling album is usually considered "first" to the lame-o Grammy people. Well, they just smell. Let's hope and pray and cross our fingers that she wins because who else deserves it more? So, technically, with that ending, you're saying Smith has two roles in the movie? Ok, I'm gonna quote form the web-page this time about the clip in question: "This short clip was shown after the credits rolled in the original release. Kevin Smith says that the person shown here is neither Silent Bob, nor Kevin." (taken from http://www.viewaskew.com/clerks/laserdisk.html). So in the original release he did have two parts. Of course both where silent roles due to is want to be in the movie and not wanting to memerize lines (and Kevin Smith HAS said that so I'm not jumping to conclusions). >Any news on Chasing Amy, by the way? It opens on March 28th in NY and LA. ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V2 #114 ***************************
