Even though we lost both games (I scored :) ) it didn't seem like it with such a wonderful crowd. They were screaming and waving their balloons around crazily every time somebody fell on their butt. A couple of them would even come up to the glass and start banging on the glass whenever Liz was in the corner. My supporters at the broomball game lost their voices and scared away all the other spectators!!!!! ;-) Jon Reade was told by a cop, "Now I'm going to have to shoot you", happy birthday was sung to me while I was on the ice, Crunch, Larry, and Teg got wild at the bar doing shots, and many other weird things happened. We even had a nice sing-along in the party van!!! Let me think...hmmm...well, lots of good blackmail photos were taken, strange snoring noises (tom obrien) and horrid sing-alongs were recorded, not to mention Greg Dunn stripping in my bedroom (*ducking*). We did a wonderful cover version of My Own Private God's Gift To Women with Tim Burkeman as the accompaniest on the guitar (even though he had NO idea how to play it!!!) We also watched a lot of EXTREMELY rare Jewel footage courtesy of Dan Stark (Steve-my honey-Poltz was in one of the videos and I might say that he looked GORGEOUS <--inside joke---sporting a red prom dress...sort of like Barry's) Several of us piled into one very small area on my family room floor, underneath a table and had very interesting conversations about vibrating chairs, chinese food, Taco Bell, herpes, and maggots. The scary thing is that these conversations were recorded. I am VERY scared!!!!! I fell asleep a little after 5:00 AM. The party van pulled out at 9:00 AM and the rest of us hung out for a while. This afternoon Igor, Larry, Jon, Tim, Crunch, Shelly, and I went to Chili's for lunch and got all of our pictures developed!!! they are great!!!! ERIC--please send me your snail mail addy!!! I went to the music store today looking for of course, any and all Jewel sheet music... They didn't have any, but the guy said he could order the book for PoY for 19.95... course, it ONLY comes in Guitar Tabs... they don't have a piano or vocal version of the book... argh... anyone know if they're ever going to make one or what?? Thanks angels... :) - --Lisa P.S. I did however find WWSYS on a Karaoke tape, course it was with 4 other songs that i didn't like... so blah... P.S.S. And for anybody that likes Joan Osborne, i found a tape with 5 of her songs from Relish It's not horribly bad or anything, just don't listen to the girl who sings on the guide vocals side of the tape... hahaha.... I thought it might be conceivable, like the release of "Emily" on the European WWSYS singles, and perhaps could be available on the European YWMFM or Foolish Games single. Is this a possibility, or since a sdtk of "Clueless" has already been released the movie producers own the rights to all the movie's songs? I really liked that version she did, and now I want it in its entirety. And I'm bringing someone who has NEVER heard Jewel before in her life. =) eheh Let me know where we can meet up. :) (I prolly won't be able to get there 'till 7pm tho :( bleck) As far as getting backstage.. best bet we have is just to wait around afterwards for up to an hour to see if she comes out. Basically if we see her leave; time to give up.. otherwise just wait and chances are she'll come out to sign autographs, etc. =) Gerrit Matty wrote: :> i got my tickets for suny-geneseo today, and i found out it was a general :> admission show. are any of the other shows g.a.? i can't wait. i'll :> probably get there early in the afternoon and hang out at the campus. if :> anyone else is going to this show, let me know so we can meet up. also, :> i'm more than a bit interested in finding out who to contact to get :> backstage. it would be amazing..... - -- "Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others." -- Groucho Marx ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Feb 1997 21:41:39 -0500 (EST) From: Grrly1@aol.com Subject: JACKPOT! The fans are usually our parents with bags under their eyes from not getting enough sleep with the games being so late :) I don't think any broomball team has had anybody cheer like that for so loud and so long. It was so hard to concentrate instead of laughing. The best part was when the ref fell on his butt :) Who ever was always standing up with the balloon and pounding on the glass did a great job! Oh yeah BTW whoever I borrowed a quarter from before the game thank you. I needed to make a phone call and nobody had any money. It is nice to know I can count on EDAs for anything. If I haven't said it enough already thanks!!! Well I gotta get ready to go to another broomball game tonight. (Actually got back a few hours ago) It was definitely a BLAST! I got to meet Mia and Misty before dragging them (ok, so it was easy) to Toledo to meet up with everyone else. I had been kinda worn out from the quarter of school, but as soon as I got there (we pulled up at the perfect time..right into the crowd!), I got such a warm greeting and saw so many familiar faces that I have come to love (Liz, Lauren, Igor, Tom(what 'bout Mitch!?), Selena, Rachel, Eric, Shelley, Chrunch, etc) that my spirits were immediately lifted! =) It was so great to meet so many more wonderful people!! (Duff, Larry, Mike, Sarah, Dan, etc - whoa my mind is blankin fer names *gasp* please don't shoot me.. more sleep will fix that soon!..i promise!) *weak smile* Anyway.. it was WONDERFUL! Oh yes.. and Liz's Broomball games was an absolute blast! We had so much fun cheering from the sidelines!! =) And everyone thought we were weird! (Hey! I helped to contribute to it! Along with a lot of you.. but anyway) ;) It was SOOO MUCH FUN! "Go Craig!" *rofl* Nevermind that my voice has been dead ever since. :> There is no way I'm going to sit here and explain all the wonderful things we did at Liz's. It would take too much time and I'm sure I'd leave a few things out anyway. ;P (Besides.. I know ONE person who I'm sure will *ahem* post all about it since he *ahem* wrote.. err..anyway.. ;) eheh) - - no strong hinting or anything there.. :> I'll see Lauren, Liz, Shelley, and whoever else at the Columbus, OH show on March 15th! =) I'm so looking forward to it now. :) (Yep, that means no more selling the tix even tho i should, eheh) Gerrit - -- "All you need in this life is ignorance and confindence, and then success is sure." - Mark Twain ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V2 #106 ***************************
