Okay, here's my milicent (I know that's not right, but I'm creative!) about the gituar thread... I have NEVER had a gituar lesson in my life, yet I got a $3 gituar from a garage sale which was horribly out of tune and missing a string. Yet I got on it and made a great release song (It sounded sort of like "daddy" but it was lyrically more like You Oughta Know by Alanis Morissette and Shallow by an unknown folk singer). I recorded it onto my album, along with some of my other songs with my band (alternative/folk type stuff) like our cover of YOK, and my versions of WWSYS and WYMFM. And No, You can't have an advance signed copy... once we sell it to either Atlantic or Virgin, then you can. nick (who is dreaming when he thinks that he can sell his stuff...) ************************************************************************ * Nick J. Okay, here are 2 things that help... 1. Have someone go to the store and get EVERY SINGLE KIND OF VEGETABLE AND FRUIT they have, except for things which would disgust you drinking it. Starfruit, zuchinni, limes, everything. Then seperate them into 2 groups: fruits and vegetables. Then take the fruits and either A) Juice them all, and them put half of the pulp back into the juice or B)Put them all into the blender, then make them liquid, and strain them, put half of the pulp back in, and DRINK. I know, unless you use a TON of citruses, it's rather disgusting, but it's SUPER HEALTHY. For added measure, add a bunch of parsely. Then yiou can do the same for the vegetables. 2. Get a TON of onions and garlic, and mince them. Then, you can either mix them into potato soup, or put them onto a sandwich. Eat it. Both are super antioxidants, and they are really good for your body. nick ************************************************************************ * Nick J. Here are two pieces of info pertaining to signatures from the newsgroup news.announce.newusers--good reading for anyone new to the Internet and Usenet. **** Don't Overdo Signatures. Signatures are nice, and many people can have a signature added to their postings automatically by placing it in a file called "$HOME/.signature". Don't overdo it. Signatures can tell the world something about you, but keep them short. A signature that is longer than the message itself is considered to be in bad taste. The main purpose of a signature is to help people locate you, not to tell your life story. Every signature should include at least your return address relative to a major, known site on the network and a proper domain-format address. Your system administrator can give this to you. Some news posters attempt to enforce a 4 line limit on signature files -- an amount that should be more than sufficient to provide a return address and attribution. **NOTE: this is intended to be satirical. If you do not recognize it as such, consult a doctor or professional comedian. The recommendations in this article should recognized for what they are -- admonitions about what NOT to do. "Dear Emily Postnews" Emily Postnews, foremost authority on proper net behaviour, gives her advice on how to act on the net. ============================================================================ Q: Dear Miss Postnews: How long should my signature be? -- verbose@noisy A: Dear Verbose: Please try and make your signature as long as you can. It's much more important than your article, of course, so try to have more lines of signature than actual text. Try to include a large graphic made of ASCII characters, plus lots of cute quotes and slogans. People will never tire of reading these pearls of wisdom again and again, and you will soon become personally associated with the joy each reader feels at seeing yet another delightful repeat of your signature. Be sure as well to include a complete map of Usenet with each signature, to show how anybody can get mail to you from any site in the world. Be sure to include Internet gateways as well. Also tell people on your own site how to mail to you. Give independent addresses for Internet, UUCP, and BITNET, even if they're all the same. Aside from your reply address, include your full name, company and organization. It's just common courtesy -- after all, in some newsreaders people have to type an *entire* keystroke to go back to the top of your article to see this information in the header. By all means include your phone number and street address in every single article. People are always responding to Usenet articles with phone calls and letters. It would be silly to go to the extra trouble of including this information only in articles that need a response by conventional channels! ------ Nick J. I'm not sure I understand why the argument falls flat here. I understand that Jewel's new beau may be physically more attractive than Steve Poltz was/is, but I would hope that Jewel is interested in the guy for his brains as well as his looks. The fact that Jewel and Steve are no longer a couple doesn't necesarily mean that they don't deserve each other, or that they don't think that they deserve each other (or that they think that they don't think that they deserve each other, and so on, and so on...). It could be that they just realize that with their touring schedules, that a relationship is impractical right now. Or, they could be giving each of us guys/girls hope. Heh, heh.
