Also because the 28th is a Friday, I'll have to skip school, so if I have a major test or a big OA Chemistry lesson: I would have to drive you really early in the morning, or drive you to the nearest GO Train Station. This is my first (of hopefully many more) Jewel concerts. I've been to a lot of concerts in the last year (Smashing Pumpkins, The Tragically Hip, Tea Party, 54-40, and Rage Against The Machine just to name the main ones). But I have not been so excited about any of those concerts as I am about the JEWEL concert. I live towards that day, counting down the days. I am probably taking pictures, and if possible tape the show as well. I can only dream to meet Jewel. If you or any one else has any ideas on how to get back stage or meet Jewel, let me know. I know I have to many lengths to get near backstage at concerts before. The only way I did get backstage before was because one of my friends was a bouncer. I need to meet Jewel, help me out I NEED TIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks Wojtek P.S. Kerry, I'll write you a full report on the concert, the minute I get home, I know it won't me the same as being there. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Feb 1997 00:31:31 -0600 From: Ashe Mayfair Subject: Update I just spent some time updating my Jewel page. Two days ago (Thursday), this guy at school walks up to me and asks, "so, how's the Jewel album?" Of course I replied with great, fabulous, the best, incredible, wonderful, amazing, etc., etc. He told me he was looking for it to buy for a friend, and he figured he'd ask my opinion since I'm always singing it. He then told me that he was at Circuit City the night before and they didn't have that CD, but they had some other one with a few songs on it. I asked him if it was a single, and he said no, it had an import sticker on it. I got really excited and asked him how much it was. He told me $9.99. I guess he could see my excitement and he then offered to pick it up for me that night!!! I was just like "Wow, would you do that? I'll pay you back Thursday!" (We get off of school Mon.-Wed. for Mardi Gras) So the very next day (Friday, yesterday) he had it for me! I was so excited. It started my day off great, especially since I was feeling so bummed. Btw, it was the WWSYS import from Germany. Now maybe I should try and work a little charm there and get out of paying him back! Just joking! I'm paying him Thursday. It was only $9.99 plus tax. Thanks for listening. A little Tori-content... Wow. I'm listening to Boys For Pele for the first time and have to say Tori is right up there with Jewel. How ironic, all this talk about having to wait for a new Jewel album when there's "other" music out there just waiting to be heard. This album is incredible. How bout we all suggest an album that really stands out to us while we're waiting? Of course, I recommend Tori, but one of my favorite instruments is the dulcimer. I know Angela DiIulio (i wonder if i spelled that right...;) listens to dulcimer music, but does anyone else? If you do, or want to, I know of a duo that is excellent and can give you an address to order their CD's. There, that's my recommendation. Misty asked about Sarah McLachlan... Another coincidence, along with Tori I bought Sarah's "The Freedom Sessions" of which she spoke of. It's a CD-Rom thing with 8 songs. I don't have quite the enthusiasm as with Tori (and Jewel of course) but I do like her songs. Unfortunately, I don't have the memory requirements to "interact". And speaking of CD-Rom's, does anyone know how to make the screen-saver things like the one on the cranberries CD on a Mac? Please, I need help! MrBB... Thank you so much for the news! It is so refreshing reading about Jewel's future plans. Does anyone else have this "need" to hear "Fritz Creek Store" now? I'm hoping they stick with that plan. Kimberly requested... >PS. I like this idea of suggesting an album that we can recommend while we are waiting for the new Jewel album. OK, I guess I'll start: I love Peter Gabriel's album Passion. It is the soundtrack to the movie "The Last Temptation of Christ". I find the music very inspirational. The songs are so beautiful and diverse. Although this is a departure to the like of Jewel, I truly recommend it to everybody. I'm going to go out on a limb here, because I'm new here but I've noticed that a lot of you on here listen to lighter music. I'm not saying that's bad, it just seems that a lot of people on here do. Anyhow, the album that I recommend is Tool's AEnema. It's melodic yet dark and powerful. They flow back and forth between gentle and harsh in there sound and music very well, and are all accomplished songwriters. I know that it's a far cry from Jewel, but I have a wide range of tastes. Well, that's my pick for music while you wait for Jewel's new album....give it a listen at a store, if you feel like doing so. Oh yeah, and since I'm new, hi, how is everyone?
