Somebody asked about the MOM album (Music for Our Mother oceans - I don't know why it's not MOMO either :). The song on here by Jewel is called "Quiet Warrior". Here's the words and info on "Quiet Warrior" : _______________________________________________________________ Quiet Warrior Standing in a circle the wolves have come But they won't bother her, no 'Cause dancing with her hands of leaves she'll sing for them And ease their hungerin' She's a quiet warrior. Standing at the ocean's stoney shores The waves all worship her She stands in trust and lets the night swallow her Because she knows that she's a piece of the sun And a quiet warrior. You ask her where from the wind blows She'll say it's how the sky sings And you ask her how does the sun rise She'll say 'cause you desire it to be seen And you ask her how does she make your heart fly And she'll tell you, you know why She's your quiet warrior. Ravens they rest on his golden crown And steal your soul He smiles and it feels like you've known him Yes it feels like coming home He's a quiet warrior. And roaring silently he's a lion And he'll hunt for you His eyes are warm because his hands they are made of light And they seduce your soul He's a quiet warrior. You ask him where from the wind blows He says that the earth breathes And you ask him how does the sun rise He'll say that she's got wings And you ask him how does he make your heart fly And he'll tell you, you know why He's your quiet warrior. __________________________________________ Jewel - "Quiet Warrior" Produced by Jewel Engineered by Paul Waroff Assistant Engineers: Jon Jenkis and Paul Lackey Recorded and Mixed at Big Fish Studios Written by Jewel Kilcher Jewel appears courtesy of Alantic Records _____________________________________________ This was all found off the MOM album, Music for Our Mother oceans. We even met Nicki (sp?) in (insert appropriate part of New York City here) for dinner. =) All I can say is that it was et another gathering that I am ecstatic for attending. =) Hell, it was actually five days for me considering I picked up Lauren from Maryland and her wonderful parents let me crash there the night before we left and the night after I brought her back. :) I am so happy to have met and gotten to know Lauren and to actually spent a decent amount of time with Selena for a change. :> Ok.. so who's in on Feb 15th at Liz's!? Just because my eyes slowly folded themselves out of their own existance , doesn't mean that all I do is ignore. Just because scarlet red tears now fall from the cuspide of your eyelids , doesn't mean that you ever trully loved me. Just because my immuterable silence was never broken , doesn't mean that the phantom of grievance was ever lodged in thoust sternest mood. For I'm sure that naked thighs profuse devils whose spirited delightement is discernible from the stealthy creature that love is. For I'm certain that the obtrusive superficiality of your sentiments is but a dry lake whose mirage has a higher probability of getting me wet than the dried up valley it turned out to be. Your frail hands need not the reminiscences of my misleading intentions... I , intending only to remedy the malady which so tremulously accused my veins of inconsistency. I , inconsistent when being called upon to lick clean the tar and wax that lay deep within your deepest cannals. Cannals whose shroud and pale insensibility delighted themselves by listening to the thread of the agony of my cry. I, crying, could never be soothed but by pain.... the sweet sensation of a tart pleasure that lay intact by product of my obsessive insecurities. I , obsessed with your chrome plated demeanor could never see the blackened heart and liver of your malfunctioning engine whose cancer stricken mechanical chime kept me oh so calm. Just because that faint shimmer in your eyes kept me awake on sleepless nights , doesn't mean that from now on I will sleep no more. It had the complete guitar tabs and vocal parts of the 14 songs on POY. The first four pages had full page full color photos of Miss Kilcher. One little mistake I noticed in the book was that on the songs she co-wrote with Steve Poltz, it says "Words and music by Jewel Kilcher and Steve Polz." Anyway, I would have got it, except a) I'm not a serious enough guitar player to actually buy it for myself (If it were piano/vocal/guitar I would have bought it--does one exist?) and b) I didn't have $19.95 plus tax on me. I know at least one of you out there will want to know how to get this, so the FIRST person who SERIOUSLY WANTS TO BUY THIS to E-mail me will get info on how to get it from them. All others will be put on a waiting list or something. The reason is that the store is a small family-run business with some nice people working there and I don't want them to get flooded with phone calls. OK? See yuz.. --Neal ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Jan 1997 21:04:19 -0500 From: Grrly1@aol.com Subject: NJC:I need a ride. First the Jewel content, sorta. Jewel was quoted in the Park Rapids Enterprise paper a few days ago. She was quoted singing Amen and Pieces of You. Unfortunately, I was the one who quoted her, so it wasn't someone else in this Jewel-deprived town. In my English class, we had to write about 10 virtues, and I used a quote from Jewel for each of mine. (I only had PoY at the time, and I'm thinking of so many more I could have used now.) Three of them ended up in the paper with other classmates. Still, I think it's really cool, and maybe, possibly, this counts as my first real Jewel content. And amazingly, someone else in this town does like Jewel. In swimming we always have music going, and I thought it was so cool that WWSYS was actually playing. I was gonna ask which radio station it was because I've never heard it played before. Then, when I stop swimming warm-up (it doesn't really work to hear while swimming) the first words I hear are "faggot, faggot." It was so cool. Someone actually has her CD here and brought it in. I found out later that it was our manager, Heather. I didn't really talk to her because she left before practice was over, but I'm gonna borrow her some tapes if she wants them. And there is one more person who likes Jewel, my English teacher, whome I converted to a Jewel fan. Unfortunately tho, when it got to Adrian, all my teammates were making fun of Heather for Jewel's music. Deprived I tell you. your lonely (irl) angel, Scott PS: I didn't get a chance to send this out yesterday. We actually made it through the whole CD today, and Heather was singing along to YWMFM. I really gotta get her some tapes. e-mail: brougdms@parkrapids.polaristel.net IRC: #rotterham on EFnet listserv: midnightclub@attitude.org Nickname: Wagner internet: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/7887/midnightclub.html "It's nothing without love, love, love." - Jewel, _Deep Water_ "Its season has passed." - Christopher Pike, _The Season of Passage_ "This is your world in which we grow, and we will grow to hate you." - Marilyn Manson *This is your world in which we grow, and I will grow to LOVE you.* ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 4 Jan 1997 12:55:50 +1000 From: leob@kuentos.guam.net (Leo and Donna Babauta) Subject: js tapes ... wow! Hi Angels! I just got copies of the JewelStock tapes (AWESOME, AWESOME!!!!), and I'm so excited I HAD to write about it. They are the COOLEST!!! And I want to thank my new friend Jimmy Yu, who is visiting Guam for the holidays and lent me his copies for dubbing. The sound quality is amazing. I've only heard a handful, a scattering, of non-POY songs, and so hearing these songs I've only read about was a revelation. My faith in our lyrical goddess, while never failing, has now doubled or quadrupled or multiplied by some incalculable power. As a bonus, I just got the JewelStock T-shirts in the mail from Phil the T-shirt guy. Now it's almost like I was there (well, not even close, but I can dream, can't I?). Quick note: to identify ourselves as everyday angels at concerts, I think in addition to dying our hair, we should wear HUGE angel wings, like the ones John Travolta had in "Michael". :) Cheers, Leo tropical angel who's in heaven p.s. Hello EDAs After 2 weeks of hiding in the shadows here in CT, I figured I should write & introduce myself. The first time I heard Jewel was on my way back from New Hampshire. YWMFM was on the radio & they never said who sang it, so when they gave the station's phone number, I called on my cellular phone and sang them the song until they told me who it was. Thank Goddess they didn't hang up on me. Anyway, I fell instantly in love. Jewel has the most increadible voice I have heard since Joni Mitchell. She's not to big here on campus, but I'm trying to get people into her. I guess that's about it, I don't want to yammer on. Perhaps you will hear more from me later. If anyone knows any groovy Jewel websites, please let me know this is my 4th day with a computer in my apartment & my netscape software should arrive sometime next week. i don't have a TV and have little clue what Jewel even looks like.
